OOOK, now i get it!

"Shouldn't be a lot of work involved.

I used winRAR to unpack everything and it does it more or less automatically.

The first time I tried to do it, I ended up stuck with folders within folders thinking I needed to manually unpack them... So i started over. I don't remember the order of operations off the top of my head, and I deleted the big file after I was finished.

Basically, you unpack the big rar file you downloaded, then you get a big folder full of more rars. So: select all > right click > extract to a folder of your choice, and I think that's pretty much it, except it took my computer about 5 minutes to unpack them all.

For me, my modpath = DK (the menu overhaul's default)
so the files are in my C:\Program Files\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\mods\DK\field directory.

They are organized in folders to tell the game where to look for each scene. Like this one: C:\Program Files\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII\mods\DK\field\ancnt1\ancnt1_00_00.png

Hope that helps! That's just how it worked for me."

Thanks Template! I forget to unrar the folders on field directory.

What Anti virus are you using?  Some Anti virus programs check the FF7.exe or whatever as a trojan and delete it automatically.  You need to go into the programs area of the anti virus' settings and exclude/allow the file needed to be passed.  It worked for me and I have Norton.

I have Mcafee and i disabled protection and exclude that files, the problem is i cant find any file named ffvii.exe my game folder it only have those: FF7_Launcher.exe, ff7_fr.exe, ff7_es.exe, ff7_en.exe, ff7_de.exe and the game runs fine when i execute it

Bootleg will convert the 2012 SE Store version to the 1998 version when ran. Where is your game installed? Not just the Program Files are system folders. Also where are the mods and Bootleg?

Verification accepted, pirate avatar removed. For future reference, owning the game legally isn't enough, you need to use a legal copy because the integrity of the data in pirated versions cannot be verified.

For this problem, you'll need to set up another Steam library in a folder other than "Archivos de Programa (x86)" and reinstall FF7 there. Bootleg won't install to a Steam copy in the default Steam location. Someone else can provide details on how to do this, I can't remember offhand.

Copy the FF7 folder to a non-system folder and use it on there. The Program Files, My Documents or the Desktop are not valid install locations.

i read how to install the game into another folder instead steam ones, but i have a question, if i download all the 17gb from the torrent and use the EQ2Alyza profile, do i need download something more?  or the instalation will be kinda äutomatic, because on  my last try i had a lot of glichs but i think it was because the game was on a  steam route

Guys, i did it! my game finally works with mods but i didnt like it with the gjoerulv's "Hardcore" mod (v1.0.6s) on it, so i uninstalled and installed again the game and this time i didnt install that mod, but the dificulty is not "high"is kinda imposible to beat, i cannot win a single battle, enemies are inmortals, sometimes i have to hit 8 or 9 times to beat an enemy other times just 2 or 3 (the same enemy family), and i was fighting with the mako reactor boss for around 25 minutes, i casted like 12 thunders on it, used a few limits and hit it, and he never died. thanks for your time.

Did the counter say 30 minutes? There's a chance you're using Nightmare.

Quick question. ive been reading page after page of qhimm for days. i have tifas bootleg running flawlessly. but i keep hearing mention of a way to add models that dont come with "the package" theres even a folder "Bootlegcustommodels" using tifas bootleg i have the game 90% to the way i want it. i just wanna swap a few models here or there without having to unpack and repack and using gui and what not. is there a simpler way just to swap a couple in or out or load them to the presets that come with BFE? a redirect or a simple explanation would be much appreciated as im trying to do this while working 40+ hours six days a week.

otsugua_aryam - Post the contents of bootleg.log and LastUsed.bp, both found in your Bootleg folder.

decency_breakin3 - You cannot use Bootleg to alter game files after it has run. You'll need to uninstall and re-install anew. If you plan to constantly swap between models and game modes, I recommend 7th Heaven.

Im quite aware that all mods are hard written over game files using bootleg. im asking weather or not prior to using it how can i input custom models that it dosent offer in its menus. the read me txt file says.....

"Q:What is the BootlegCustomModels folder?
A:Place your custom models in the appropriate folders before running Bootleg.  Enable the custom models option and Bootleg will install these models."

how do you enable the custom models option? do you just put each bunch of files into corrisponding folder? a step by step explanation or a link referral from a moderator to where this is all posted in the tutorial would be greatly appreciated.

ostugua_aryam - It doesn't seem like you installed any of the gameplay mods, which makes me wonder why this happens. Did you run the Game Converter prior to installing? It seems like a previous install was not successfully removed, or that it had trouble going through the Steam folder (that happens if the Game Converter wasn't installed, but can happen if it was).

decency_breakin3 - To be quite honest, the Bootleg Custom Models folder is not that good of an idea. It's there, but using it is hit or miss. The models in there are installed after Bootleg is done, before finishing. It won't resolve any conflict, and that can result in weird models. It overwrites anything present in there (under folders named Field, Battle, Magic, High, Chocobo and World). I personally don't recommend it as this can lead to weird bugs, but if you know what you're doing, then go ahead. I can't help troubleshoot problems arising from the use of this folder, though.

so pretty much your stuck with the outdated, unmatched character models that the BFE offers you. there is no easy work around for installing models easily that dont come pre packaged with it your saying. i mean at one time there was the unified model program but thats now sense debunkt. hard to believe theres not an easier way to get it just the way you want it. 7th heaven does it in run time. too laggy.

Not right now, no. You can wait up until the next release, but that won't be before a year at least.

i followed this to unistall the game and try again:
1) Unistall the game via control panel
2) Unistall the ffvii music like the game
3) Erase the game folder on steam because the unistall didnt
4) Run the FF7-REMOVE-Keys
5) Downloaded again the game and start from the begining

did i miss a step?

This seems fine. What about your installation order?
