I just installed the FF7 2.3.1.0 update and had to install FFNx manually to my game folder to get the game driver to work because before right after I installed it, it said "FFNx.toml is missing". Anyways the driver opens now but does not work as in it will not change the game to the settings I select It's like it's locked to the settings I had running before I updated no matter what I change and save in the game driver any help with this is  really appreciated also I cannot download the animations mod from the Qhimm community I know 60fps isn't compatible I just want the character movement animations is all and I can't find that IRO elsewhere.

Yep that 60FPS mod was doing it. Got everything running just fine now. Played for a little while with no crashes either. Thanks a ton. I'm hoping that the memory allocation problem can be fixed in 7H 2.1 and FFNx can be fully implemented into 7H down the line as well. Huge thanks to OatBran and unab0mb for helping me to understand this problem and find a work around.

Thanks a ton man. Appreciate the immediate response on this. I'm going to attempt to turn off the 60fps and see what happens with that. I actually already went through the DDS process and the sluggishness continued but I will try to switch off that 60fps option and see what happens. Thanks again for the help.

So I got everything going good and got the game to run but the combat runs very sluggishly and slow compared to before.

Okay FFNx it is. I have an already installed steam version. Will 7th heaven still work after I install FFNx?

I've been experiencing this exact issue as well. and I've done a lot of reading into others having this problem too and from what I can gather the only true "fix" for this potentially is 7H 2.1. So I guess my question is, is there anytime frame for 7H 2.1?

7
I am getting this exact issue as well.

8
So I believe I found out the issue I believe after extensive play with no crashing. When in the Setting under Game Driver, Advanced Tab I found the "clear texture cache" option but when I clicked it it said "Path to cache folder does not exist" but it explains that the path should be C:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\mods\Textures\Cache. Now for whatever reason there was not a Cache folder at the end of this path so I just went to this location and created one and everything has been fine ever since. I there are any further issues I will update.

9
One thing I read in the HELP section was that I could clear the memory cache but i'm not sure how to do that any help on that would be appreciated as well.

10
Nope it still crashes after a certain period of time it seems. The Hi-Res mods that I believe are possibly causing the issue are the HD Remako textures but I don't understand why now they crash the game where before the didn't?

11
The one setting I adjusted was "Mipmaps" It was on and it said that it may increase texture memory. So I turned that off and played for a little while with no issue. I'm not on low memory that I'm aware of. I'll keep playing and see if maybe that fixed the issue?

12
So I'm getting constant crashing since I've updated to 7H 2.0 I would run all the same mods on the previous version of 7H and this did not happen at all on my last playthrough. One error I am reading in my APP log is [00177840] ERROR: texture cache is full and nothing could be evicted! as well as
[00178048] TRACE: MiniDumpWriteDump failed with error: A device attached to the system is not functioning. Obviously I believe it is a texture cache issue but my questions now are why is this effecting me now when they didn't before and how do I fix this issue? The crashes are completely random as well. It usually happens when changing screens, like going from one area to the next. Most recently it happened mid combat. I could really use some help on this please and thank you.

I don't have a ds4 controller so I can only relay to you what I hear from everyone else. The controllers do work fine, but if you choose to use them, you have quite a bit of setup to do.
  • Install and set up DS4Windows. Looks like this allows your DS4 to be emulated like an Xbox controller. http://ds4windows.com/
  • Click your start button and type "Set up USB Game Controllers" in the search box. Click it.
  • Select your controller from the list, click "Advanced" then make sure the correct controller is set as your preferred device in the drop down box. Click OK twice.
  • Since FF7 has limited controller support, if you want full support, you need to trick the game by mapping keyboard keys to your controller using a 3rd party tool.
  • I'm told AntiMicro works well. Download and install that from here https://github.com/AntiMicro/antimicro
  • Run AntiMicro (or whatever your preferred controller mapping tool is) ***AS ADMIN***. Configure AntiMicro/your preferred tool to map the keyboard keys you want to your controller.
  • 7th Heaven 2.0 includes controller button "presets". These simply change your keys and buttons inside of FF7 as if you opened the game and went to Menu>Config>Controller. 7H is not a mapping tool.
  • If you don't want to use a preset, configure your own controls inside of the game, go to 7H>Settings>Game Launcher>Controls and click the Save (floppy disk) icon.
  • Make sure those same controls are set up in your AntiMicro.
  • Ensure your controller is fully on/plugged in/connected first. Then launch FF7.
If you're getting double-input in the game, this little piece is from the DS4Windows site:
  • I'm getting double input/ Weird input in some games, how do I fix it?
That's because the game tries to (though usually badly) support the DS4 on it's own. You can solve this by enabling Hide DS4 Controller in DS4Windows' settings, then connect the controller BEFORE you launch the game.

That's the most comprehensive post I can possibly do. Anything beyond that, call a priest, a voodoo doctor, I don't know what. Or buy an Xbox controller for crying out loud.

I figured it out. DS4 windows works but as you highlighted *As ADMIN* was the only thing I didn't try. Ran it as admin and it works no problem. Thanks a ton for all the help. Gonna run NT again while I wait for the remake!

I really appreciate the effort here. I ran and installed antimicro and then went into the game and tried to customize my controls after mapping them with antimicro and the game just does not respond to inputs from the controller. I guess If anyone knows a way to play 7th heaven 2.0 with a DS4 by any means I would be very grateful for any help.

So i'm trying to run ninostyle field models and New Threat and the nino style models are not working. I've run these 2 mods previously on 1.0 with no issues and the 7th heaven application is not telling me anything is wrong with compatibility between these mods. I have switched on "ignore compatibility" but that isn't working either. Also when I previously played this I used DS4 windows to use my dualshock 4 with FF7 but now the controller won't work in game at all. I'm wondering that the new controller settings in the 7th heaven 2.0 app are the problem? any help would be appreciated.

Never mind I figured out part 1 of this issue. some of my mod categories were "unknown" so when I auto sorted they were not sorted properly. So my only question is how do I use my dualshock 4 controller to play the game with? thanks again for any help on this and a huge thanks for all the hard work on super simplifying this process with this update.

I'm having this issue with the mike+millenia setting for battle model textures. My load order DOES have the battle model - weapons ABOVE battle model - characters. Has anyone found a fix for this issue yet? and to clarify this issue is not during the final fight with Sephiroth it is right from the jump of the game.

7th Heaven / FF7 Re-Patch after every restart
« on: 2019-03-05 20:32:57 »
Every time I restart my computer or come back after a break and the computer has gone into sleep mode I have to re-patch FF7 because it won't launch. It crashes right away. I've read on the FAQ that this is due to the sound device apparently. So I Re-patch and everything works fine but I only don't want to have to do this every single time I restart my computer because I have to remap my controls every time because of the patching as well. Any help on this would be appreciated.

This may sound stupid but again I am pretty new to this still. How and where do I access the Aali driver settings to stretch the screen?

Yes I am aware that getting it to 16:9 will cause a bit of wierdness in the way it looks. I very much appreciate the responses. I will look into the Aali setting and give that a go. Thank you so much.

7th Heaven / Full Screen Issues
« on: 2019-03-01 03:36:04 »
So after much time and effort I finally have everything working except true full screen for FF7. I have a laptop connected via HDMI to my 55" 4k TV. When I launch FF7 the game screen is entirely to large and only partially on screen. I found out how to fix this by going to Display setting for my computer and changing the scale to 100% instead of the recommended default of 300% when doing so the game is on screen fully but I've got black bars on the sides so it isn't truly "Full-screen". So I have 2 issues here. 1) How do I attain true Full-screen with modded FF7 and 2) How can I save this so that I do not have to adjust my scale/layout every time I want to play the game if possible? ANY help on these two items would be tremendously appreciated.

I'm having something of a similar issue. When I launch FF7 it is very large and partially off screen. Now I know how to fix this issue by goung to my main display settings and adjusting it to 100% instead of the default 300% recommended value my issue then becomes I can see the game fully but it isn't "full-screen" If that makes any sense. I've got my labtop connected to my 55" Sony TV and would like to get the game screen to "fill" the TV. I realize my lingo is not so great but hope someone can help with this.

Hi. So i seem to be having the same dang issue and cannot figure out how to get it working. Been at it for an hour now... So some of the things i've done. I've manually mapped the controller to the keyboard keys in DSwindows and I went to the Control Panel and set the controller as the default as said in the edited post. For whatever reason when I launch my modded version of FF7 through 7th Heaven the controller just does not work nothing happens but elsewhere like on the desktop I can use the touchpad to move my cursor and click on things there but in the game it is not working any help on this would be appreciated.
