Hi, all.

Does anyone know how to install this mod on a Steam Deck ?

yes, I recommend installing FF8 on your PC and on your Steam Deck, installing the mod over your PC installation, and then copying and replacing the PC installation over your Steam Deck installation

I'm not actually too sure, haven't yet tested it with Moguri. If all Moguri is doing is replacing graphical elements, my initial thought is that it should be fine, but I'm not 100% clear as to how Moguri functions and what files need to be replaced when it gets installed. It's something I need to read more about and experiment with.

My suspicion is that it's more complicated than that, because it uses Memoria to do whatever magic it's doing, but I have no idea

This mod looks pretty interesting and I'm glad it's been updated to work with the new Steam release. Does it by any chance work with Moguri? I saw half a year ago someone had problems that he thought might be related to it, but I don't know if that was made certain

Does anyone have the previous Moguri version (v7.0.1.0) on hand anywhere? I'd like to play Alternate Fantasy with Moguri, but it isn't compatible with v8 yet

If you've done the mod installation before, and would like to update because of the latest bugfixes now, it is fine to just do the file replacement again and continue with your previous save game file.

Does this update mean you need to start from the beginning or should it more or less be fine to just patch and continue a save file?

Hello and thanks Setafd.
That's a known problem of the widescreen mode. Unfortunatly, there is not a proper fix yet (I think).
You can either disable the widescreen mode (Alt + Spacebar) or try to use a hacky fix that should make things better (but then it will bug in the other way in the non-widescreen mode). This hacky fix is described there.

Hey, I've been enjoying Alternate Fantasy with Moguri/Memoria and having a blast playing what looks and feels like a new game, but I'm having a little graphical issue and I was hoping you all could help me find out where it's coming from. For some reason, the graphics for attacks in battle (ie, the animation for a spell, or a weapon attack's slash animation that happens on a target) are centered to the left of the target, respective of the camera's perspective.

Does it seem apparent what's causing this?

@setafd: Hi. No, you shouldn't do that.
This old patch should still work if it's used as a stand-alone or even with the Moguri mod. However, AF already changes that treasure there (it effectively removes the timer condition but also give another item than Excalibur II (because that sword can be given either by Gilgamesh or by Hades in the mod, never found next to Lich)).
If you simply want to have Excalibur II after defeating Lich and without getting it by collecting all the treasures of the game, you should rather use gjoerulv's save editor to add the sword in your inventory.

hey, I found an old patch you recommended to someone some years ago for removing the timer condition for the Excalibur II that you apply with Hades Workshop, is it still fine to use? wanted to make sure it wouldn't mess anything up with AF + Moguri

@setafd: There's no need to start a new game because of the new version. The changed base stats for the characters will update automatically after putting the new files in lang-en, and there shouldn't be any conflicts with GF Abilities at this point of the game. If Heal appears in Siren's Ability list (instead of Absorb), then all is good.

I don't know that I feel the same way about physical attacks, I've got Cid Deathblow+Added Cutting his way through dudes. Smart weapon elementals makes him fantastic, because he tends to crit so often anyway.

My party as I near the endgame is Cloud, Vincent, and Cid, with Vincent being loaded down for bear magically, Cid being my physical attacker and tank, and Cloud inflicting status with his physicals and buffing the team. It's a good setup!

Hey, Sega Chief, I just had a crash against Jenova-DECAY when I had Cid use Hyper Jump against it. That was just my first try, I'll keep doing the fight and edit this post if more happens

Were the rank ups changed back to how they were in 1.4?

I'm seeing the old sets instead of the difference rank choice names (red mage, techno-freak, etc.).

Also all my characters have maxed out SP after updating, but I did also just beat all the materia cave bosses, so maybe they just gave me a ton of SP. I dunno, just wanted to see if this was a bug before I save over my main save file.

Either way, thanks for the update!

I just ranked up for the first time in 1.5 Arrange and I definitely saw "techno-freak"

e: Has anyone found an Ark Dragon in the Mythril Mines? I'm trying to get Antipode and I've yet to find an enemy formation that includes this monster

Just wanted to check because it seems odd: in the Rufus fight at Shinra HQ, should Rufus' pet be impervious to damage and Rufus himself absorb poison damage?
