Releases / Re: [FF7PC] [7H] Enhanced Stock UI (2.0)
« on: 2021-01-03 19:06:08 »

Hi, can you please check if you have the latest version of the controller addon, as that was a previous bug which got fixed in the latest version, if you are unsure of the version please post a screenshot of your 7th heaven window showing your mod list, thanks.

Thanks for replying, the version I'm using is the one available at the 7th Heaven catalog

Also the option for semi transparent field dialog boxes I tied into the field dialog style (ESUI option), I can add an option separately if you prefer solid color field boxes.

Originally it was a driver option, but since it was removed as a driver setting, to try and avoid over bloating the options, I just tied it to the field dialog changes as no one had ever requested it to be off before.

Tbh, I'm kinda fond of solid dialog boxes, they're easier to read and i prefer the more ''classic'' look, just on a higher resolution. If you could add an option to have the solid boxes again, and if it's not too much trouble, it would be really awesome :)

Ok on the first problem can you tell me what options you have enabled in the qhimm gameplay catalog please?

I will look into an option for the solid dialog boxes, it might just be a file you copy to the ffnx hext folder (will override esui), but if I do it that way I will give you step by step instructions.

Hi, thank you for the hard work! Although i have a doubt, I'm using ESUI controller addon from the 7th heaven catalog, but when using it it enables by default semi transparent/translucid field chat boxes with no way to turn it off, is there any way to make chat boxes opaques again without turning the mod off?

Also, just noticed there's a bug where this happens:

Once this dialogue box is open the game basically softlocks since you can't move the cursor around the chat options and there's no way to close the dialogue box.

there is no original 'work' in this mod
I'm aware he did no create or got involved in the creation of any of the mods and tools related to the compilation he just made and posted here, I'm giving him credit tho for the time he took to port those functions in to 7th heaven on an easy to install and manage iro file making it compatible with (almost) the rest of the mods.

And although i agree he could have contacted the creators and asked them permission to do this first I'm willing to assume since this is the second thread he now did so after he got warned about the rules he broke previously, and specially after being aware that the creators from Because and Reunion requested to be removed from catalogues and redistributes.

This part is what makes me believe so:

This re-release does not contain Beacause/Reunion in order to comply with its license

I don't think he ever intended to get credit from the work of others since he put the names and links to the original creators, what i think is that he wanted to offer some help to the people like me, who doesn't know (or learning to do so would take some time, so he's still a time saver) how to make The Reunion functions available to 7th heaven but failed to do so in a proper way, but that doesn't exactly mean his intentions were bad. Although if i were one of the creators who specifically requested to not have his work to be spread around (due to the amount of time it took me) as you mentioned in another post, having a guy that without asking permission suddenly makes a compilation post which leads people to go to a single thread where I'm not even mentioned it kinda denies some possible support/recognition and that would certainly piss me off. But i don't think that's the case here.

And honestly, after reading his other posts i fail to perceive him as either a disrespectful or negative person, he just didn't know a few things (which is honestly more than understandable since this website as a whole can sometimes be a bit confusing regarding to rules and other users actions).

Last thing i want to say is that i understand your outrage with this user, but to me he seems really genuine, just try to tell him how to do things if you think he did something wrong.

With that said, english is not my primary language so I'm not explaining/telling things the best way i could and there's probably some poor use of grammar so i apologize for that.

Anyway, cheers!

Hi, thank you for the hard work, many people will appreciate to have an easy and fast way to get 60 fps battles again, so this is kind of a blessing until the Qhimm Community Animations gets fixed.

Although i'm having this issue even with the ''ignore mod compatibility restrictions'' option enabled:

Can this be fixed? It's not a big issue but still a bit of an annoyance.

Hi, thanks for the great work Mcindus, this is simply amazing, although i was having some slight stutters when loading these textures, even when using a SSD with both cards and board (the stutter happened twice, first when loading the board and then again when revealing opponent cards), so i thought about compressing the textures to see if it worked, and when using reduced size pictures the sutter is completely gone, if you don't mind i'll just share them just in case someone has the same problem as me.

Edit:

Hey, I seem to get a memory leak when I play Triple Triad using this mod for too long on the REMASTER version.

If I play for too long, I get the following error message:

A program error has occured.
error: 3004232570:461
could not load file textures\cards\back_0.png

That file exists and is in the directory structure though. Do you know what I might be able to do in order to fix this issue?

This is true, happened to me too before i switched to compressed textures, if you grind cards for too long no matter what you're gonna get this error eventually.

With the compressed ones it should be less likely tho since they're 1/4 original size.

This only applies to the Demaster version.

Thanks a lot for the amazing work, really looks amazing, although for me it takes a few seconds to load the battle backgrounds and slowsdown grinding a lot, if i wanted to uninstall it safely i'll just have to remove the folder, right?

7
Honestly, after doing all of this i can safely state that it improves the playing time without any crashes by a lot, with the wrong setup in 30 min the game can crash, with the current one i can play for hours without noticing anything, although it still crashes eventually.

I just wish i could help in to solving this problem. Cheers for all the people working on this even if it's only one.

FF7 Tools / Re: Simple speedhack/slowdown for FF7 (v2)

Ok, I just figured out, it's Windows Defender real time protection after a recent uptade as i though, and since i restart my PC once per week or so haven't noticed till now, it's a false positive, to fix it you just have to manually add 7th Heaven folder as an exclusion and that's it.

Sadly it doesn't work anymore: if I start FF7 with speedhack enabled it crashes.

Spoiler: show

I've also started getting the same error and i'm not using any antivirus, this has to be some recent Windows 10 update, has anyone managed to allow this hack to run?

Hi, thank you a lot for your work, also, i was wondering, is there any way to replace the keybinds? I have F12 set to take a Steam screenshot, and since i have 7th Heaven embeded it's kinda annoying to have to either replace the Steam Keybind or just turn screenshots off.

11
So, according to what i've read here and there, the safest things to do to further avoid possible crashes are:

-Using upscales instead of retextures or anything that uses high-res textures.
-Avoid the use of Mipmaps, Post-processing, Linear filtering and Pixel buffer.
-Enable texture cache.

Maybe i'm missing something, but, am i right so far?

I don't know why my post was deleted, but like I said in the ending FMV all dialogue is in french. I did some experimentation and found out the reason is the "Media - Qhimm Catalog" mod. The only way to fix it is by deactivating the mod completely but that means you don't get the chibi replacement for the cutscenes, the updated soundtrack or anything else you might want from it.

It was probably moved to a new thread due to this topic being related to 7th Heaven itself and not it's mods. If you search a bit on this forum you will find a few threads adressing this mod issues.

No, the VRAM has nothing to do with it.  Unab0mb's getting very annoyed with people who keep asking, and I can't blame him.  The graphics driver is limited by the game engine to a 32-bit address space, which *theoretically* means 4GB max, but comes to about 3GB in practice.  Throwing new hardware at it isn't going to make a lick of difference.  The Team Avalanche and Project Edge folks know about this and are trying to come up with band-aids while the driver's memory management is improved, but for now this is the best advice we can give you:
1.  Enable texture compression, and clear your cache any time there's an update to a graphics mod you're using.
2.  Don't go manually editing the config files and twisting knobs you don't understand.  We spent a lot of time trying to find the safest defaults (that's why things like PBO are default disabled)
3.  Save early, save often.

Ok, now i understand.

Also i have to apologize, i'm aware that among the faq this problem is probably refered as "My Game Driver/FF7 keeps crashing. Why?" but i was uncertain if it was actually related or not, so, sorry about that, i was trying to understand why was this happening and if there was something that i could do about it (that could also probably help others).

That's exactly what is expected.

So... there's no way to fix it other than just getting a video card with more VRAM? Mine's a GTX 1060 3GB and although while lowering the texture quality and spells kinda helps it only delays the unavoidable crash when alll VRAM is consumed.

Literally, the same happens to me, after a screen transition sometimes and randomly the game runs in to the same error, i was trying to fix it myself before posting anything.

Also, yeah, this is something related to this new version of 7th heaven, in the previous one when i had to manually modify the game i never had such error.

So i'm using the Nino style chibi models as you pointed out. The background fields are SYW v4 Satsuki. And here is a list of the shaders I use in Reshade: ambientlight, curves, HDR, Tint (sepia), Vibrance, SMAA and high pass sharpen. You can also use advanced CRT if you want the old school CRT look.

Thank you a lot! Although in my monitor this group of shaders doesn't look as good as they do in the screenshots you shared, i'm still testing a few combinations, i may aswell share the result once i find it good enought.

Cheers!

Edit: https://photos.app.goo.gl/oPs4m4EvmqPq4x6r6  not entirely happy about the end result of me messing up with the shaders but i think i'm getting there.

Edit: I took a couple more screens with some recreated backgrounds. The Nino chibi models are just the best thing ever. I can't wait for that mod to be completed! https://photos.app.goo.gl/JRnGovP5GLkDtorT8

Totally agree, i'm kinda waiting for him to finish every npc to try it out too.

If you want good and stable shader injection, use ReShade. Tons of effects and super stable. Here are some screens of what mine looks like (still tweaking) https://photos.app.goo.gl/JRnGovP5GLkDtorT8

Wow this is kinda amazing, i have several questions if you don't mind, which shaders did you activate? And which mods? For the character models i believe you may be using the chibi version from this guy: https://www.nexusmods.com/finalfantasy7/mods/4?tab=description  but for the pre-rendered backgrounds i have no clue, this looks way better than the Remako.

Looks like i'm having an issue which i'm uncertain how to resolve or if it's even directly related to 7th Heaven, after trying to soft-reset the game with assist+start+pageup+pagedown+target+camera (in the old PSX was Select+Start+L1+L2+R1+R2) i've noticed that the game speeds up and i'm unable to turn it off, after trying multiple button combinations it ends up being the button positions for Assist+End (or Select+RT on a Xbox controller), the thing is, i'm using an Xbox One controller and since it didn't recognize the LT RT and D-pad buttons i had to use Steam to change it for directional arrows and Home+End to match the button positions, so right now that combination (Select+End) triggers an in-game speed up but i haven't figured out the combination to turn it off, does anyone know how to do it?

Xathyr, that is exactly what this thread is about. Everything on the first page of this thread is progress on his FF8 Remaster mods. (That's what the "R" in the title means.) As of the last update he is still testing on Disk 2 for fields and battle backgrounds.

I'm sure he will release a complete-remaster-all-in-one-easy-install pack when he is done.
I'm so dumb, i just read on the first page "released" on a few mods and i thought it was already done and available alongside the Lunatic Pandora, that's why when it didn't work i just assumed it was meant for the 2013 steam version.

Sorry about that, i should expend a little more time reading topics  :-[.

21
I just purchased the Lunatic Pandora Mod Pack to sadly find out that it does not work with the Remastered version of the game, so, i was wondering, is there any future plans to make it work with the Remaster? Even if it's on a new version of LPMP i'm more than willing to pay again for it, i really appreciate the effort to make things faster and easier :)

Never expected such an upgrade to makes things even easier for us, i assume this was intended to coincide with the release of the FF7 remake demo, which is a nice touch.

You not only have my gratitude but also my money since i intend to support this project even if it's just with a small part, i still recall benefiting from your work back in Tifa's Bootleg's days and i kinda feel in debt.

I just have one small question, is there any way to replace the menu button icons for the ones from Xbox One? I recall using a mod that has not been updated and another that is not compatible (R06).
