To PitBrat and all you wonderful modders for making Bootleg Configurator possible, thank you for this amazing mod compilation. I've never modded FF7 before, so I'm a total noob when it comes to its mods, but I have to say, your bootleg config and instructions had me install every single mod, a whopping 10gb of data, effortlessly and flawlessly. While it seemed like a daunting task at first, there was so many mods to download, I had expected all sorts of issues to occur, but so far so good, brilliant work here PitBrat.

FF7 never looked or played so good. :)

Fantastic work! I'm working on DLing the files at the moment.

Found one broken DL link, just says page not found when I go to it:

yarLson Field Upscale Project v0.35.zip https://docs.google.com/leaf?id

Just noticed there are a few other files with this link, I'm guessing there's a whole chunk of stuff that should be at the end.

There's another link for a few files: https://docs.google.com/open?id

Of course I simply found the proper links via these forums but thought you might want to change that anyway.

Neither open a DL page. Hope that helps.

ran bootleg, am using grimmys FMVs however bootleg looks for the wrong file names. either grimmy has changed the file names, or something is wrong on your end b/c i downloaded the FMVs from the big list of mods

Didn't get to try this out before I slept last night. One of the music installer .exe's took 3 hours to DL even though it wasn't that big a file, was from a rapidshare download link but that isn't technically a problem as it does indeed download.

Two problems I did find however:

1. FMVRes.exe when the bootleg fired this up for me it did not load ANY of the interface, no window/buttons/etc, all I got was a animated picture of sephiroth on my desktop. Tried multiple things to try and force it to load but in the end just had to end the process in task manager, bootleg then continued as if it had installed. - I can't tell if this is a bug or just a random glitch as that would entail running the whole thing again but I ran FMVres.exe seperately and it worked ok but I shall wait until bootleg is finished before I run it all the way through (with it's own folder).

2. The mod list in BFE AND bootleg.exe could not find the files:

ff7_enhanced_movies_1.zip
ff7_enhanced_movies_2.zip

I can only assume like the poster above me said that the file path in BFE/Bootleg is wrong. If you check the download link for these files however you'll see this file is in four parts so perhaps it was modified since you added it to bootleg which might explain the problem there. It has 4 parts: 1, 2, 4 and 5 (No 3 lol) and part 1 is a .exe not a .zip http://www.mediafire.com/?5oxns4oj1mgny

..hmmm yeh.

http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=11504.msg159119#msg159119

ff7_enhanced_movies_1.zip - Trojak  - https://rapidshare.com/files/2135061499/ff7_enhanced_movies_1.zip
ff7_enhanced_movies_2.zip - Trojak - https://rapidshare.com/files/1099401798/ff7_enhanced_movies_2.zip

I wish I'd bothered to look a bit harder before starting bootleg, I only just noticed these. xD

Anyway those are the only issues I've come across during installation.

It will probably be worth restarting the whole process again with these files even if just to to see if I can duplicate the problem I noted with FMVres not working correctly... I'll let this one run through then retry, will post if I find any other issues. Hope this helped.

Tifatree,

1) FMVRes.exe runs silently.  Bootleg waits for it to finish and then continues the installation.  There's no need for any user input while installing FMVRes.exe.

2) Megaupload's demise resulted in some file shuffling.  Please check the Big List of FF7 Mods for the most current links.

VISTA users, please do NOT place mods in or install the game to a SYSTEM FOLDER such as PROGRAM FILES or DESKTOP.  Using system folders will result in missing files and broken mods.

Ah gotcha, I just got confused with the animation and box on my start bar. Will I be ok to just run bootleg again without undoing everything? Or does it require a clean install?

I should mention, I've noticed that any World Map text doesn't work quite right.  It just kinda scales vertically along the left-hand side of the screen.

Also, the Chocobo races (not to mention the bike minigame, but that's over and done) are FAAAST, but I actually like the new speed.  They used to be so tedious. ^^

Haven't yet reran bootleg for the FMV and enhanced movies part but I've had a bit of a play with what did install and MY GOSH...

1. Got a new PC and decided to dig up my old copy of FFVII.
2. Looked forward to adding a few mods.
3. Ended up using bootleg instead of a few random mods...
4. Completely fell in love with FFVII again.

Seriously, my game looks stunning, I'm so excited to play it like this! Have experienced no crashing problems whatsoever which is new to me. :)

Only problem I've seen so far is Aeris appeared completely white when I first met her and bought one of her flowers. Hoping I can fix this with a bit of tweaking when I run bootleg for the FMV's, also decided that even though Cloud w/ Masamune looks awesome, clouds own swords are more fun. :3

I Highly recommend bootleg to anyone looking to mod FFVII. It might take a while to DL all the files but A) It is so worth it. B) Definitly faster than doing a ton of mods individually. C) The provided fixes are a godsend <3 Great work! BIG BIG Thank you to everyone involved. :)

@Tifatree: I am helping you with your download problems at your topic:
                    Trojaks ff7 enhanced movies mod. Alternate Download?

@Lion: Please post the filenames of the FMVs (from Grimmy) which are
            not recognized by Bootleg0037.

Alternative:
  • Decompress the archives by yourself.

  • After the Bootleg installation, move all files (NO folders) into
    this FF7 folder:  .\movies   (overwrite? => YES)

@Iecerint:
  • Please make a screenshot, so we can see what you see.  ;)

Is there a list of known bugs or untested fixes for this anywhere? I'd be quite happy to do a bit of feedback/testing of things as I play through. :)

This is kind of a really dumb question, possibly, but I've noticed that taking screenshots while playing FFVII just leads a black box to be saved (possibly the underlay?).  So, umm.  Is there a way around that?[/list]

@Iecerint: Try this when you have problems to make a screenshot of FF7:
  • Open ff7_opengl.cfg with any text editor (Notepad, ...)

  • Change these parameters:

    • window_size_x = 640
    • window_size_y = 480
    • fullscreen         = no    <= !

  • Start FF7

  • Hit ALT+Print Scrn when you want to make a screenshot

  • Hit the Windows-key, enter mspaint  => mspaint.exe
    Start this program

  • Hit CTRL+V  => you should see your FF7 screen now
    Hit CTRL+S  => save your screenshot

Hi guys. In first place I'd like to give the congratulations about the mods. They are just perfect!
Now the question: I have installed all game modes(Harder itens (easy,normal,hard), lost wing, remastered and hardcore). I'd like to know what are the major diferences between them. I'm playing the remastered mode but I didn't see something new by now(I only have 1:30h of game, I'm in the beggining :P).
That's all I want to know.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks for your attention ;) cheers.

This is normal. You have to level up the materia to use it multiple times.

You should be leveling up your All materia anyway. When you master it, you get another one, and a mastered All sells for a TON.

Wow, that youtube video is impressive.  It looks very professional.  I'm blown away.

Using the Bootleg default install, I haven't noticed any major FMV changes other than retranslation (which I noticed in the Niblheim flashback).  Is this normal, or should the FMVs be noticeably improved?  I just chose all the default options.

Turning off fullscreen alone fixed the screenshot issue.  It looks like the fullscreen underlay causes the problem.

Iecerint,
This is a known issue with Menu Overhaul 004d.  World text and timers are broken.  You can correct this problem with the current version of Touphscript by extracting and replacing the text.
The upcoming version of Bootleg does this automatically.  I'm also including support for non English versions of FF7.

@Iecerint:

Can you upload your version of the Laptop Keyboard Patch ?
Every version i found via Google is the same as used with the Bootleg installation.

I found mine via google search.  Someone had posted a modified config file.

I need the following data for further analysis:

  • Used options (BFE.exe -> Presets:SAVE)

  • Bootleg.log

  •    FF7 \ APP.log
    ( FF7 \ FF7Music \ APP.log )

  • FF7 \ FF7Music \ FF7Music.log

  • ff7_opengl.cfg

  • Run dxdiag.exe -> SAVE:DxDiag.txt

Upload the compressed (.zip/.rar/.7z)  files (please make one archive) onto MediaFire.

@ PitBrat -- Thanks for the clarification.  After I finish my Hardcore playthrough, I'll re-install everything with the new tools and do a Retranslated playthrough. :)

@ UG -- IIRC, the file I replaced manually after installation was this ff7input.cfg:

http://www.finalfantasy7pc.com/Files/ff7input.cfg

Which I found from this site

http://www.finalfantasy7pc.com/mods/aalis-custom-graphics-driver/

My use of the word "config" in that quote is a little misleading.

The laptop keyboard patch did work for me originally, but for some reason it "undid" itself when I opened the game for the 3rd or 4th time.  Then I replaced my ff7input.cfg file with that one, and it fixed the problem.  I have no idea what un-fixed the keyboard settings, but the game was 100% unresponsive to keyboard inputs that time.

I can still repost the version of the file I used if you want.

EDIT: I've shared the Bootleg information here:

http://www.mediafire.com/?ddprteye4t5t2a8

I should say that I noticed that I changed the Opening background from the picture of Cloud/Sephiroth to the original background, so I guess one change from default did take place.
