Title: Final Fantasy VII Installation could not be found
Post by: SquallStrife on 2017-03-16 05:13:21
Just as the title says, FF7_GameConverter_7H.exe will not find my Final Fantasy VII.

A Few Tidbits

I have the Steam Version

I am on a laptop

It's not in Program files

This was a Clean install

Any help with this? I want to try The New Threat mod, but I can't even get the converter to work

If you enter the file path in manually it should locate it and patch it correctly.

Did I enter it incorrectly, cause as you can see in the 2nd picture I put

"C:\Games\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII"

which is where my game is located of course

Hmmm, that's odd. Did you try running it with admin privileges?

P.S. If that doesn't work, maybe this thread might help?? http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=17171.0 (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=17171.0)

I tried again on my desktop and failed, so I made a new folder in games, not on the desktop and it finally patched, so I'm going to try it again on the laptop later and see if it works

Did you put the quotations marks at the start and the end of the file path.

Why yes, I did, but I don't have my laptop with me to try it again, as I said I found success on my desktop, just the laptop is being funky

How come you have a steamapps ect folder inside the games folder? Seems a little pointless lol.
I'm sure that makes no difference but still

Because all of my Steam games go in there since I moved it out of Program Files...but yeah a bit pointless

I bet you're having registry problems after moving the Steam folder. The GC is reading the game registry keys as being installed in Program Files, but it can't actually find the game files when it's directed there.

I get my laptop back on Saturday, I'll try again then, as for now I am enjoying it on the desktop

Hi SquallStrife,

i am analyzing the GameConverter at the moment and have found some errors.
A newer version will be available soon.

Your problem is well known to me:  You are running "Windows xxx" on a 64 Bit Operating System (AMD64)
                                                    Real Management 32Bit WOW64

This causes very weird Registry entries, and the GameConverter does not work properly !

Are you using a 32bit-File-Manager ?  (e.g. Total Commander, Idoswin Pro, ...)

Workaround for the moment:
Use Windows-Explorer to start the GameConverter and don't forget to Run as Administrator (right click).

The output should now look like this:  Real Management 64Bit NATIV

Hint: Please download always the GameConverter from here
