Wow, this is cool Mcindus, thanks for your work.

We'll soon have a fully upscaled FF8 so... better to improve Tonberry ASAP xD

Wow, this is cool Mcindus, thanks for your work.

We'll soon have a fully upscaled FF8 so... better to improve Tonberry ASAP xD

My agenda:
SeeD Reborn v3.2 Italian (75% complete)
Tripod v1.1 German (75% complete)
Tripod v1.1 French (50% complete)
Tripod v1.1 Italian (50% complete)
Hellfire Pack (80% complete) - but until animations work, I probably won't release a pack.
Battlefields v1.0 (80% hashed, 10% complete)

And this does not include SeeD Reborn v3.3, Tripod v1.2, and HorizonPack v2.2 updates!
These last few are long-running and will most likely be out sometime before 2016.

As you can see above, I'm also working on doing the battlefield backgrounds.
Only a few of them will be completely overhauled (just like HorizonPack) but I really do feel the upscale is quite an improvement.  The world battlefields are easy to hash -- it's the instanced battle fields that are hard to mine through the game for.

I know I know bro, animations and collisions are our biggest obstacle now. The good new is that Tonberry is now a two man project. Mavirick has joined and he is working hard on a bunch of hashing improvements, while I'm working on a better texture caching method. Just sit and wait ;)

I love these. I can't wait to try them out!

I'm still trying to remain patient and will play once everything gets overhauled more or less, but seeing this makes me want to cheat a bit ;)

Man, it looks like I'm going to have to hand Valve my $5 one of these days. Too many good graphical mods are coming out and I only have the original release :(

Well this is my first post but never the less I just wanted to report the issue I had!
(Sidenote: I am planning to start working on mods and join in on the fun of remaking pieces of FFVIII!)

@Mcindus, Everything you have done for this game thus far has made me super excited, I have already put in about 15 hours in the past two day!

Anyhow I have run into a graphical error, I will edit and post a photo asap.
The error is with Carbuncle, instead of green he/she becomes red and has texture tearing. <<This only happened after installing Lunar Cry.

Do you have collisions.csv and hash2map.csv in the tonberry folder?  Find them on the tonberry 2.0 post under the main post (in my post) or in the original Tonberry 1.5 download

I am having this exact same problem.  I have collisions.csv and hash2map.csv in the tonberry folder.  I was using the files that came in the Tonberry 2.04 download.  I tried using the files in your post (the one right after the main post) as well, and the files from the 1.5 release but neither fixed the problem.

I also just tried reinstalling tonberry and lunar cry, but the problem is still there.

Also I just tried enabling debug mode and then summoning Carbuncle but no files showed up in any of the debug subfolders.

Make sure you're using an updated version of Rebirth Flame, if you're using it.  If you're using the old rebirth flame objmap codes, this will most likely happen due to minor collisions.  Let me know if that helped!

I'm using version 1.1 of Rebirth Flame, which is the newest version listed there.  I tried reinstalling it and the problem persists.

Have you tried using Project Hellfire? Using the hashmap from that and the upscaled GF textures might fix your problems.

Edit: Actually, if you do use it it will probably work. Just disabled mine for a test, had the problem happen. With it in use, it goes away.

Hey, no I haven't, where can I download that mod?  I only see the hashmap on the Tonberry Enhanced post.

EDIT: So I put the Project Hellfire hashmap file into Tonberry and the problem is fixed.  I thought there would also need to be texture files, but maybe I am wrong?  At any rate, Carbuncle once again has skin!  Thank you guys so much for the help, I really appreciate it!

EDIT EDIT: Dug through some posts and found that the Project Hellfire textures appear to be work in progress.  The textures I could find were here http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=15668.msg223269#msg223269 (make sure you get the replacement texture from the 2nd post down unless you want shiva to be nude)

Hopefully if there is a next guy this will help him.

Oh? I wasn't sure whether having the textures mattered or not... But that's good to know. I'm glad it fixed your problem!

It's good for people to know, yes.

I had the same issue with Carbuncle! Thank you, just using the hashmap file from project hellfire fixed it for me.

stumbled across a youtube video from mcindus earlier today while having a nostalgic look at some ff8 videos. it was the video that explained how to install the mods. just wanted to register to say thanks, was very simple to follow and all is up and running and I must say it looks AMAZING.

I now have no choice but to play through the game again. thanks for all your hard work, the difference really is incredible. how fantastic that a game can be kept alive and improved by its fans like this. keep it up!

cheers

Wow. Now that's great praise! :)  Just giving the community everything I wanted to have when I played.  From one fan, to as many others as I can reach.  Thank you! Awesome name.  Posts like these make all the time and effort feel completely worth it.

I really have too much on my plate right now, but I think I've finished Ifrit, Brothers, and Shiva and will be moving on to Quetzacotl, Siren, and Leviathan next.

Hey there...
Noticed that when you are fighting a bomb and some other enemy (like the big snake I don't remember the name when you are approaching the blue light to get bahamut), the textures from the bomb appear on the other enemies.
I'll try to take a screenshot next time.

Wee bit late to the party but I've noticed the same glitch in the Deep Sea Research Center. When the Anacoundaur and Bomb spawn in the same pack the Bomb is merged for lack of another word with the Anacoundaur texture. However the snake only keeps a few of the Bomb textures but loses all of his. Sorry about the status effects in the Bomb close up pic, forgot to remove the junctions before I took the screen shot.

Aside from that, I'm really digging all the great graphics mods for FF8, keep up the great work!  :D

E: I'm taking another look at the Bomb in game and I think maybe its not the snake its being merged with but the Buel (tri-winged thinger) textures or both. It''s weird all the same lol.

Due to how Tonberry is sometimes, it can cause certain textures to overlap. As you can see, each enemy has either lost a texture or gained one from the other enemy. I've fix a majority of the battles, this one included. Of course, I'm not sure how many enemy combinations there are in this game, so I'm sure there are still a few out there I missed. I've sent the fixes to Mcindus, so it'll probably be fixed in the next update. :)

I may have found a similar "wrong enemy texture" bug. This time, it's during Laguna dream sequence in disc 3 (when you have a Ruby Dragon boss fight).

One of the regular encounters there consists of 1 Mesmerize and 2 Bite Bugs.

This is what it looks like. I'm not sure which enemy texture the Mesmerize is using (it may be Bite Bug?).

This will be fixed in the next update!

This next update will merely include 'fixes' for the issues where textures are appearing on the wrong enemies.

Hey everyone!!  With Fated Courage's help, I've updated the mod to v1.5!!!  This should fix most, if not all the missing textures issues!  I've also done a small color treatment to the mod.

Thanks!  Check the main post (http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=15977.0)!

I plan on finally starting a FF8 game with all the juicy mods, in a couple of weeks. I was thinking: do you guys have more lovely stuff coming up in the near future (and i should be patient and wait for that), or i can just dive into the adventure asap? :P

Hey MCINDUS, I found another bug...  D=
It's in the rock parts of the Fastitocalon(enemy_fastitcln_14.png) texture, it just doesn't load when you fight this enemy.
It's not something that bothers me(since I don't run much in the beach areas), but only to notify you about it.

I loved this mod and the others you did too(Tripod, etc..). Keep up the good work!   =3
