Here are some of the towns I've finished so far. I've been using FMV and Flevel images to create the new textures. Lots of these use the same textures and apply them differently in each spot, so in short there will always be some misalignment.

I've also finished Chocobo Sage's house, Weapon Seller's, and Rocket Town.

Very little tech support will be offered. I will say that the towns folder goes in the WMRP folder.

finally decieded to share with the rest of the class ;)
They're looking great! A few crits though, the light colored tent for N Corel should just be matched to the other one. The dark on looks great and the white on the other tent looks wierd. The roofs on Mideel have a wierd checkerboard effect on them, not sure if it can be removed or if you have to make a new texture.
Bone village looks amazing! Can't wait to see these released.

i was thinking of remodeling the buildings, and i might at some point, but by in large these look great!

Damn those look good. I guess i should get off my ass and start preparing another release as it looks like most aspects of the map will be completed soon.

I really like gongaga and bone ville too! I can't wait to see Midgar and all the rest of towns. Grimmy whats happend with chocobo farm? if I change the front texture of the farm the house change too :? anyway, excelent work! :-)

Chocobo Farm uses two textures, but it uses the same texture for the front of the house and the barn.

well, i could do a nearly complete release today if you wanted to. If you plan on releaseing more updates in the future, i don't see any harm in releasing another beta installer. The world map would only be missing a few textures, and it may help to have users take shots and help me indentify what exatcly is still missing. I am awaiting the rivers from alberto, the oceans are finished, so it would be a very nice upgrade from the last release.

i will include grimmys towns and albertos oceans, if he sends me the river we can include those as well. Also gjoerulv has given us permission to add his hardcore mod as well. I believe it is near final, so if you want to hold off for the final release we could. It only alters the battle.lgp so it should not affect anything in the TAOH project.

if you don't know how to manually apply them, wait for the auto-installer. It will do all the hard work for you, and if sl is up to it we might have a new version out sometimethis week.

Grimmy is just doing some finishing touches on it. So yes it will be included.

im not asking for most technical help, just making sure im doing this correctly.... sinse i suck :P
so i create a "towns" folder, in the texture folder, in the WMRP folder, then put the .png 's in the towns folder
and i put all the .tex in world_us.lgp with lgp tools
do i have that correct?

Since the Sister Ray is a model from CC that I already put into my game it will be hard to convince me to do a retexture of the original model. If I do decide that it needs to be done for the sake of others then it'll be done when I finish Midgar and the Gold Saucer. The Rocket also falls into this category.

I know the textures won't be able to be un-offset by a few degrees but towns like Kalm lose a lot of detail in the plain brick look.
It isn't much but I personally prefer just a regular house look to the shed look. Maybe a few doors or windows? :D

Kalm Town, Rocket Town, Corel Prison, Weapon Seller's House, Nibelheim, And Chocobo Sage's House all use the same 2 textures for their walls. The only problem with adding doors and windows to the textures is that the textures are applied differently in every location. So you get floating doors, windows cut in half, windows the size of the whole wall, and a bunch of other alignment issues. The reason I went with a simple texture is that the other texture with doors and windows made the game look stupid, unfinished, and trashy.

Hey Grimmy I was thinking on redoing the actual models of the towns using blender or whatever. Just wondering if that would be possible and if you knew the location of these models?

Yes it would be great if the towns were models that could be edited in blender, because then you could adjust the uv map to fit on the above towns. As it stands now these are the only models that appear on the world map.
