How do I extract battle.fs to get the c0mXXX.dat files in the PSX version? provide the links/URL please.

Sure, well no these bosses are added none are replaced, i found a way to add bosses on the field using hack7. All I do is use monsters that aren't on that disc so i can alter them as i see fit. I do this byfinding the field file i want and literally inseting the battle anywhere you want. Before a save point for example if you wish or after certain trigger like your exampling obtaining materia. You need the Battle digits for this so you know what monsters what so here ya go mate.

#1 Interesting.. how do you activate a random battle just by talking to a save point? What file (.DAT) can I obtain to get an example of how to "insert the battle anywhere"?

#2 And what do i do with the battle digits? Can you give me an example of how to use the battle digits ff7rules?

#3 I just finished downloading the Hack'7 program. I know how to open .DAT files, but that is as far as i can go of understanding. I hope you (ff7rules) or someone can help me.

No, I'm not explaining it well at all. Bottom line is, you can't do what you're trying to do. The only way for that file to be smaller is to have the original file to be smaller or have more repetition in it.

If that's the case, then my dreams are now crushed. there is no future for a black cape sephiroth lzs less in KB .. Thank you NFITC1 4 the information.

I mod the FFVII psx version
--

#1 Yes, I can make enemy cloud does his casting animation & attacking animation.
- He does not have his weapon (though I see his buster sword @ a random spot when I cast KOTR).
- Cloud does freeze when I attack him. So what I do is, I put another monster next to him and I attack that monster. and when that monster hp gets to zero, the battle ends (imagine the turks battle. you kill 1/3 turk members, the battle ends).
- Now I can't just leave enemy Cloud alone during a battle, what if I accidently attack enemy Cloud? the game would freeze & the battle would just not be fun right? Answer: Yes, which is why I have a solution to that problem. I make Cloud invisible, which means you could still see enemy Cloud's graphic, but cannot be touched by anything.. Magic/Summons/Items/Odin 1KO etc.. This is what I have to do since I can't find a solution to the freezing problem. If you got a better idea of how to make an interesting enemy Cloud fight please voice your ideas :)

#2 I'd like to try your demo Cloud, maybe I can discover something new for everyone. thanks

Okay thanks Kudistos Megistos. I now have the program in my possession

Yeah, im working on the psx version. I love FF7 so much I play during my sleep hour. I play FF7 wherever i go, because I have a psp, and FF7 on the go is win. I wonder what's your reason for modding the psx version ff7rules?

Anyway, I've been lurking for about a month before i came out of the shadow (only because I was confused as hell when i got deep into modding). My goal is to replace the default monsters on the world map for better much more bad ass looking monsters (like: Ultimate, Diamond, Emerald, Ruby Weapon, Black Cape Sephiroth, Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Cid, etc.).

Now the reason why I wanted the LZS Compress/DECompressor was because I want to compress the hero LZS files (Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Vincent etc..), so that I can replace default LZS monster with let say a Cloud LZS file.

I can fight enemy Cloud, I can make enemy Cloud attack and cast magic. I can do all of that. IF i can just compress Cloud's LZS file. At this very moment, I can't make the size KB any lesser then the default.. http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=8810.0
Help me vets.  :(

FFVII psx version modder

#1 Hey guys. I want to make my sephiroth (black cape, not shirtless) lzs file less in KB. Small as possible, but not so small that it might mess up the sephiroth graphic in battle. All im trying to say is.. how can i make it small enough so that I can hopefully bypass the size issue that has been going on with the psx version?

My attempt:

#2 Okay.. I really don't know what's going on there. why did the compress file size just got bigger??

#3 And finally.. Thank you Kudistos Megistos & NFITC1 for pointing out on where to download the LZS Compress/DECompress. Thank you NFITC1 for the LZS compress/DECompress.

LZS Update:
I am very close. My compressed file is 625 bytes (0.94%) larger than the one you gave me (I'm using a two-pass comparison and making some things smaller). That's a compression ratio of 31.56% instead of 32.2%. This is probably small enough for this particular file (they'll each take 33 2K blocks), but for files that are on the edge of their blocks that's insufficient. I'm still working on it so don't fret.

Now I believe I have finished this. I emailed it to ff7rules (at least I think I have) about 15 hours ago, but he hasn't gotten back to me about it. Granted, that's hardly enough time for him to reliably check his email and test it. If anyone else would like a go at an LZS compressor/decompressor, send me a PM or email me.

nfitc1! check your e-mail ([email protected]). I really want to try your LZS compressor/decompressor. Im working on the psx version too! & I now fall in the same problem as ff7rules.

#1 okay guys. psx version: I manage to make the enemy sephiroth cast magic by changing the ai script here & there. and it finally works. I finally done it. I also tried use barret, tifa, cloud using the same ai script (worked as well).

#2 now the only problem is that every time i even lay a damage on enemy sephiroth or barret or cloud or tifa, the character just freezes -- the background rain drop still drops, the music still plays.

#3 is anyone familiar with this problem? please help me. im so close..

The original enemy has an AI script. all i did was swap Enemy Model.

so the original enemy model was swapped for the new barret model. Still, barret does not move (I also swapped original enemy model for Sephiroth model too. same end result).

#1 I want to make Barret as my enemy for the psx version. I replaced the enemy model like ARMS described. and according to ARMS, the only thing left to do is make an ai script. which i have no idea on where to begin. I have hxd hex editor & proud clod & wall market.

#2 Like the black cape Sephiroth enemy encounter. I too swap enemy model and I encountered the black cape Sephiroth just like in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyTaerNzGqw&hl=fr      .. the only problem is that my enemy Sephiroth does not move--Sephiroth cannot cast magic like he does in that video. I would really like to have a template of Sephiroth ai script. Just so I can learn from it. Trial & error is the best i can do..

#3 As for Caith Sith, dont let the name fool you, it's really Caith Sith.. with just the akward name.

If anyone would like to help me with the 2 problems. I'd be really thankful. I've learned a lot from reading what you guys cooked up.

if you wanna add sephiroth all you need to do is replace an enimy model with sephiroths model.   I dont like that its kinda buggy and the sword placement is all messed up but its the psx version what can you do.

Although i barely work on FF7 for the time being,  I still come around to see whats up.   I don't post because I don't really have anything important or helpful to say since i don't even know programing.  I would like to learn in my own time how but I can't find a good site.

Also what programs do you guys use to help hack your games?

Sucky part is that he just stands there.

im perty sure that you can edit the worldmap enemys with meteor if not i think the program you need is reeve or a hex editor

to change the model as far as i can tell it may be possible to add new enemys never actually tried it but you can change the size of the enemy using Proud Clod or kimera

anywho best bet would be to hit up  Gjoerulv with a PM as far as i know he is the only person i know who has done both

How did you change the size enemy? I use Proud Clod, but i never seen a feature that lets me edit enemy size. will you show me several steps on how you change enemy size?

Is this for script for PC version? i'm hoping for a psx enemy script

I too want to know how to make my own enemy encounters. Can someone make a video tutorial. It's better because im a visual person.

Apart from the descriptions, it's been done. If you used this I DO hope that credit is given where it's due. ;) ....Even if you don't, oh well.

Remember that there are five categories of animations: Player Magics, E.Skills, Enemy Attacks, Limits, and Summons. Absolute animation values range from 0 (not just 1) to somewhere around 330.

Mediafire seems to be most compatible with people.

#1 @NFITC1, It's really nice that someone has made it before me. If I had known there was a work been done, I wouldn't have start mine from scratch.. What should I do?

#2 From my experience: I've spent two days working on this, testing each animation from hex 01 - FF.

#3 @NFITC1, now this is the first time i lay eyes on the work "been done" by someone else. now I'm confused. how is it that the hex number can go above the 000digit. Now I've used Proud Clod to input Animation ID, and it lets me type only in the 00 digit.

edit: Here is a screen shot of emerald weapon using cosmos memory (Red's limit break)

I'm currently modding my FF7 psx version.
==

#1 @Kudistos Megistos, so after you edit whatever it is do, what do you do after that? how can you take your edited work and merge back to scene.bin?

#2 @Kudisto Megistos & ff7rules, i want to know how you guys can replace the first scorpion boss for another boss of your pick? I've tried using the proud clod program, to edit the enemy formation. Am I doing this right? Because for some reason, the game screen gets glitchy, errored, and frozed.

http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/6576/71287934.jpg

#3 I really want to mod my own enemy "encounter" but it seems like it's not as easy as changing a few hex numbers.

btw, i'm reading the link you recommended (Kudistos Megistos).

This is where you should be changing things:

If you do this, beating the first formation (against Guard Scorion) will take you to formation 01 6c (Air Buster).

Hi im new here. I'm currently modding my FF7 psx version. And I don't know how you guys can decipher the hex code. How do you guys know what & where to change?

My first post in this forum. Hi guys.

First of all, NFITC1 is a genius.

Second, I've downloaded the Proud Clod 1.2 program (I had the previous version). And I don't know what the dumping feature does. I've clicked on the name dump option, and it asked me to save (to my desktop). Okay so what do I do with that?

Thanks guys. PSX version on the go ftw.
