Actualy I never instaled this patch, but Avatars are only "pictures".
So if you see old avatars in game - nothing patched. This is sure not setting, directX, TNT related.

Is in FF7WhereItIsInstaled\Data\Menu file menu_us.lgp?
Is this file accessible(not only for reading, not system,...)
What is this file timestamp?

Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Simply deleting the contents of the .avi files in Notepad and saving doesn't work; it causes a nice "ff7.exe has encountered a problem" message.

Yeah, becouse its trying play movie, but he didnt find movie, so it crash. You must create empty video, not empty file.

Dziugo's run patch has been around a long time & is still around. Whats the difference between this one & his?

I test it only little, so there can be some BIG bug...

Actualy I tested only two reported scenes not working with dziugo Always run correctly, behave like CANCEL pressed. With my patch working.
Access direction table in Gold Saurcer.
Wall market gym minigame - squats.

And it worked...
But of course, without test I cant do anything.

Hi,
here is default run patch.

What it does:
Your character default run instead of walking. If you want walk you must press and hold CANCEL.

Errors:
When Cloud runnig away from Aeris, if he run, aeris dont catch him, if he walk, Aeris catch him.
This can be at more places. Game think that you are walking, but you are running.

Not tested much so USE ON YOUR OWN RISK
If you test it, please report bug/no errors...

(patch only works on version 1.02, size 5882880bytes )

Patch for some unknow reason dont work, if is not in any directory.
(You must have patch in any directory, if patch dont work and give Runtime error 76)

The question is, if changing run-walk make characters run in cutscenes.

I was able switch speed and animation.
So ...
One cutscene, whitch I tested(first reac blow up), has right speed/animation.
But need a lot of test...

Actualy It can be same as dziugo always run patch.

Game behave only like run is always on. I didnt see list of error so I cant say I am wrong.

I am trying little hacking, actualy I only get switch - Run walk animation. Is little funny look at Squall walking with run speed and runnig with walk speed.

Actualy, someone said that "some problems" are better then whole game keep CANCEL pressed.
Actualy, if you encounter problem, you can use old FF7.exe
Actualy, I am using it only for testing purpose and I will try use it whole game later.

when it came time for Cloud to draw his sword against Aeris. He sat there shaking his head as if Cancel was being pressed. When I DID press Cancel, he stopped and I was able to continue.

???(I dont understad, maybe missing content) having cancel down will fark up battles and not let you select anything

FF8 use Binkvideos for movies, and files with movies are packed movies to one bigger files.
I had similar problem, but I only switched to lower res, and no problem.
You can try update binkw32.dll. (its try, but maybe useless)
You can try use some CD tools to get files from scrath CDs(isobuster) then recreate CD(if videos will be working in FF8fmv).
Or you can try insert dummy(any) bink video to FF8fmv files, if you are skilled enought.

I tried editing the enemy id's but it either crashes or nobody loads. Any ideas why?
I have idea.
I dont know Battle scenes well, but Enemy ID can be something like unique number. Every enemy has own ID to identify yourself.
So game(game script) call Enemy ID, but if not found, no one appearrs or game crashes.

If I am not wrong you can recompress video to oter codec, but it can be long.
The video can be corupted in memory if FF7 load them?

Hi,
Anyone know how translate tutorial files .tut ? Or format of .tut files.
Curretly it looks like 18Bytes header, with pointer 2Bytes to tutorial text, so max 9 tutorials.
If pointer dont point to tutorial FFh is there.
Section looks similar to this (hex)  maybe script opcodes?(FF terminate symbol of text)

FF07070711 on end, or something else between text, ...

Looks like no length indicator? Or is somewhere else?
So is posible change strings length with?

FE is Color, yeah extenden character maybe, becouse after FE is Color.
F8 is squere(button on PSX gamepad), Akari says windows color for battle module.
EA-EE are name of characters(dialogs,...) ((Akari talk about battle module,...)
F1 Cait Sith, ....

I need know meaning, becouse I need know I I can delete it or not.

maybe you can try find some tools for finding errors in video, and try if there is some error.
Or you can try recompress videos.

Virtualdub - Video - Scan video stream for errors.(I dont know no other)

I think that hes describing other part than I am searchig for. He wrote about char, whitch are in encoding table already explained, but wrote something diferent.

Curretly I dont know what mean char E3 ,E4 ,E9. But I didnt test in in game yet. So I maybe find it soon only by testing game. Curretly E3 I delete, E4 look like some kind of char(mark,..)

I dont know more, but only those I finded in level until now.

Why is question for SquareSoft and Microsoft.

If you play videos in windows, there can be something else. Example: videos have erorrs, but some windows players, dont care and continue playing. But FF7 see error and quit/crash/stop.

YAMP has patch fo skiping videos, you can try this too.
