Hello gjoerulv,

Did you plan on adding the Treasure Chests and other pickable items?

I know I asked you about it, years ago, and started working on finding them but I never went through with it (pages 2&3 of this very thread). Well, I didn't know back then, but the list was already made by Terence a long time ago:

So I used this editor for the first time, and I'm just trying to blow this game. So I up my characters and GF's levels to 100. But does doing this also affect the monsters levels? In the world map the monster by Balamb are lvl 50 to 100. But the monsters in the fire cave when level 4 or 5. why is this?

Normal enemy level calculation :
- 50% chance of it being "active party's average level"*0.8
- 50% chance of it being "active party's average level"*1.2

Non-optional Bosses have a level cap (which varies from one to another).

Some places use a different formula for enemy level calculation :

- Fire Cavern : enemies are always level 5 (except Ifrit who is 6)
- Lunatic Pandora (disc 3/4) : enemies are always level 1
- Deep Sea Research Center : normal formula + 15 level
- Island Closest to Hell/Heaven : enemies are always level 100
- Ultimecia Castle : random level
- Omega Weapon (PS1) : always level 100

Thank you so much ! I'll upload it ASAP !

Unique card : 10 pts
Unique arrow set : 5 pts
Attack type X : 1 pts. Attack type A : 1 more pts for a total of 2 pts.
Total per card : 17 pts max

17*100 = 1,700 pts - max collector rank.

As for the Attack, Physical Defence, Magical Defence they provide no pts for the collector rank. However each card's stats can be improved and each card has its own limits (or maximum stats).

Rebirth Flame provided a list with 2 small errors (decimal values are given in the parentheses right after the displayed value by the game) :

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/197338-final-fantasy-ix/56828459#10

First error was Sahagin's max stats that are corrected on post #13 and goes like this : Attack 25, PDefence 18, MDefence 4.

Second error was Ozma's original (basic) type attack which is not M as Rebirth listed it but rather P as corrected by espritduo who provided us with a full corrected list (values are listed in decimal) :

http://www.espritduo.com/random/ff9_card_data.txt

5
ATTN gjoerulv :

If you're interested into adding an option for Tetra Master that will max cards and their stats, I made a 600 lines GS code.

US version : http://aladore3viii4.free.fr/files/FF9/FF9%20-%20Tetra%20Master%20AR%20-%202%20-%20US.txt

FR version : http://aladore3viii4.free.fr/files/FF9/FF9%20-%20Tetra%20Master%20AR%20-%202.txt

This gives the legit. maximum stats cards. Arrow distribution is aiming for 1700 pts so they're all different, the cards with the more combined stats having the more arrows.

Thanks to you, I had the curiosity to check "The Collector" rank's localization in French, which is "LE Grand Maître"... kinda disappointing. Anyway this gave me closure about this issue.

http://aladore3viii4.free.fr/files/FF9/Tetra%20Master%20ranking%20-%20French.htm

I used monkey-moore-0.5-2009-11-29-win32 for a Relative Search in order to check that.

I was wondering, your "The Collector fix" ppf file worked perfectly for my NTSC US copy : how did you make it ? If it's too much trouble don't bother to answer, but I was thinking of making the same file for other regions. So if you could provide me with the names of softwares that can do the job I'd be grateful.

Well, just for the sake of discussion, I also wondered about the cap of two things :

- Frogs caught : 32,767. This cap seems forced as it is 7FFF in hex. Do you think another cap was intended ?

- Jump rope : there seem to be no cap at all. After 8,388,607 (7F FFFF) the counter displays 0 and after 16,777,215 (FF FFFF) the counter overflows. I tested 9,999 among other values to see if there is a cap but I don't seem to find one.

Also, about the Thunder Slash glitch, it's settled. We (Vir and I) both agreed on the fact that it should be changed to Physical Attack. The only nitpicking lies in the Power where Vir went with 19 and I went with 17.

Hi Tirlititi,

First thanks for this tool. It's amazing. I am now considering fixing those minor glitches still present in the game.

The infamous Thunder Slash Glitch is my target for now and we're having a lengthy discussion with Vir about HOW it should be fixed : http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/197338-final-fantasy-ix/69536029#8

But that's not why I am replying here. I was wondering if you would make the tool so that we can change stuff in Tetra Master. I'd like to fix the 1,700 pts glitch.

Self-quoting from : http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/197338-final-fantasy-ix/69143572?page=5#54

Quote
I was wondering about the intended rank for 1,700 pts in Tetra Master. It currently reads "Would you like to discard this card?" as we all know. The 2nd best rank is "Master".

Now, if you read the "Strategy Guide" key item, it is signed by "Grand Master I", and I think this is the title that would have been earned by the player if there wasn't the glitch. Simply "Grand Master" would be my guess as I don't think they would have specified the count, or maybe "Grand Master IX", who knows !

Some non-interesting data :

Alleyway Jack's Tetra Master tutorial works the same way as Mogster's tutorial. The value decreases as you read an entry.

There you go :

Hmm I tried to change the Models, but it didn't apply in-game. :(

Any way to get the SeeD uniforms and stuff to work?

As said before, this has nothing to do with Hyne or any savegame editor.

Well I didn't mean to sound like a tosser, but I see your point. As soon as I posted that I went and found some other tools and stuff that lurky had done, alas I had no idea.

I don't mean to insist, but it's not about luksy being famous. IMO what you did is a very anti-open source behaviour. If Aali didn't want his project and his code to be used freely (as in used by the commoners like me, but also modified and/or improved) he wouldn't give all the technical information (the source code). This has been later proved by Aali himself stating "This is exactly the kind of re-use I intended for my code.".

Your reaction would have been legimitate if luksy took all the credits for himself, but he didn't. Far from that, his very first words explicitly give (some/major, your call) credits to Aali. Indeed, the first two words of the original post are : "I rewrote" as in it's based on someone else's work and the third ("aalis") gives you the original author's name.

I didn't have a chance to get to know Aali or luksy, but they seem both highly respectable gentlemen to my eyes : the former for creating an awesome tool plus giving the code, the latter for improving the code plus giving the credit where it is due and both of them for doing all of this for free on their free time (am I overusing the word "free" ?). This is exactly what the open source philosophy is to me.

As for the virus scan, it just isn't your job. Generally speaking, on boards it isn't the duty of the users to do so but of the administrators/moderators. But I won't blame you for being cautious and trying to be helpful.

It seems like you were well-intended and you just overdid things. I hope my post doesn't sound like pure lecturing, I just wanted to give my opinion on that (which can be a valid definition of lecturing, but you know what I mean).

By the way, could you please tell me where the savemap starts and ends please ? If you know it in one of the format I use, it would be great.

I'm taking a break on the treasure chests. I looked into the FotH data, and here is what I've found :

ArtMoney : 30181EA9 / GameShark : 3007B029 :
01 : Zidane wins
02 : Vivi wins
04 : Freya wins
=> And apparently any other number will make Freya the winner.

ArtMoney : 80181EAA / GameShark : 8007B02A is Zidane's best score (I'm using Gameshark format, so starting with 8 is 2 bytes and starting with 3 is 1 byte) (theoretical max is 303).

ArtMoney : 80181EAC / GameShark : 8007B02C is the winner's score. This is the one who has to be at least 100 (dec, 64 hex) for Moodon's letter to be available.

I'll quickly check the last chests in Lindblum Disc 1 and edit my above post. Then, I'll try to find some Chocobo related data.

EDIT 7 : Ok, I added the last chests for Lindblum Disc 1.

EDIT 8 : I didn't see that ArtMoney was using a different format than GS. So I added both.

Hi there.

I had some issues to run this with my FRENCH version of ff8. Anyway, I'll try again later.

http://aladore3viii4.free.fr/temp/aalicrash.zip

I was just wondering if you could fix another issue I had with non-customed FF8... it seems my graphic driver (NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS) isn't able to read these two animations :

- Eden's summoning animation
- Rinoa's Wishing Star

I hadn't this issue on my other computer (older graphic driver), and I never managed to fix it.

Hello,

Is there any mod to modify Limit Breaks ? I wish I could make Selphie use only The End, or only Percent, etc...

I know we can hack these Magics in the Magic Slot, thanks to Griever, but that's not exactly what I'm looking for.

Sincerely yours.
