Hi. Can anyone walk me through, step by step, on how to rename Spell names (and maybe Monster names)?

I want to rename some things from the Reunion's New Translation, namely Poison Null (Poisona) and Status Null (Esuna). If I can rename them, I'd be happy.

When I open the .exe, I'm not sure what else to do other than type 'd' and press Enter, in which case it doesn't do anything.
I think spell names are stored in the kernel.  You'll need the kernel editor to do that.

Hmm... I wonder if I'll end up with buying something?(I doubt so, but...)

Haven't touched the game for years, but looks like 'tb' was playing at certain scene.(I think it's... 'what really happened in the Nibelheim reactor' when Cloud and Tifa in the lifestream)

(Long time no see, though I'm sure I'll go away after a while)
I tried to let the game play MIDI BGM via VSTi and virtual MIDI cable, and it worked.  I think it's like playing BGM through hardware MIDI module, though I never have any.

1. Get VSTHost or SAVIHost: (SAVIHost maybe easier to use, though you have to install the right one for your VSTi)
2. Get any virtual MIDI cable.  I used loopMIDI:
3. And Yamaha S-YXG50 VSTi.

4. Install virtual MIDI device and make a new MIDI port.
5. Extract SAVIHost executable into where you installed S-YXG50 VSTi.  Rename savihost.exe to (VSTi DLL name).exe.  Run the renamed file.
5-1. For VSTHost, click 'File'->'New Plugin...' to load the plugin.
6. Set the input devices at 'Devices'->'MIDI...'. 
7. In FF7Config.exe, set MIDI driver to the same virtual MIDI cable port you set in VSTHost(or SAVIHost).  Set MIDI data to Yamaha XG MIDI.
8. Click 'Test' button and check if you can hear the music.
9. If you're using Aali's custom OpenGL driver, you should apply ff7_opengl.reg again.

The downside is, you have to run virtual MIDI device and VSTHost everytime you play the game.  8)

If you want to download a file from without having premium account, you have to install their download manager(you don't need to install additional craps along with, though).  It's one-time installation and not so slow, but I hate it...(I'm uninstalling it after downloading files)

**By the way, does anyone test it on TiMidity++ bw Edition?  I haven't installed the game for several years, so I cannot test it right now.

OMG, Ackinator picked the right character again!(I tried it twice or 3 times before, and it got the right answer at least 2 times)

Also interesting is the fact that Windows 7 is likely to overtake XP in Japan within the next month or so.
It reminds me something off-topic: 2009 Windows 7 Demonstration at Japan.  I don't know why(7!).

Does IE's crappiness appeal to their sense of bad web design and hatred of people with epilepsy? At least Japan isn't as bad as Korea, where the government basically enforced IE until recently because of (wait for this; you'll laugh)

Yay for this.  Thanks for that, we are forced to install various unwanted 'security modules' that never help us(rather such ActiveX components can cause various problems on your computer).  :P

I finally finished Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 on Master Ninja difficulty, only to have it freeze at the end of the game.

So f*cking pissed.

I've seen similar...
Years ago, I bought used copy of Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, and played it until the end.  However, the game froze during the ending scene, or was it end credit?  Anyway, later when I tried to record its 'hidden' video clip, the game froze again.  I finally found out a scratch I ignored before causing that, fix it with... more 'scratches'.

Doesn't look like Japanese, but Kanji(Hanzi or Chinese character).  The photo is too blurry to find out, but.......

I thought you can grab demo version somewhere, but I just remember the 'demo' is VSTi, not stand-alone softsynth driver.  Anyway, even if you can get it, I don't think you can use it with Vista and 7.

Ys series, especially 1~3(and they are arranged and remixed to death).

The world map is actually a replacement for the 'board' style gameplay from Dissidia, apparently. You can explore it all 'n' everything. Also, the map itself is actually a modified version of FFI's world map, which is interesting.

Well, Sir Awesome, you have certainly lived up to your name.   Thanks for this.   

IIRC there are two world map themes.. TA and TB.   TB plays once meteor is summoned, or maybe even earlier.

I think TB is for certain event scene, like 'in the Lifestream'.  Actually, TB is later part of TA.  And, I'm sure 'Bombing Mission' part is used for some scenes, though I can't recall where(haven't played it for years...).

how do you open the .cfg file, I can't open it.

You can use any text editor, even notepad to open it.

Read the description.  Some test/debug battles are different between original Japanese version and later versions(look at the awesome battle background).  Also there's once rumored Test 0, which can be encountered at certain place without using cheat codes(I mean, cheat devices) in original version.

The long-time rumored Test 0.  Hehe......

What is this Ergheiz game?

It's a 3D fighting game made by NAMCO (IIRC) for the psx that featured characters from FFVII such as Cloud, Zach, Sephiroth, Vincent, Tifa, and Yuffie. The characters had some pretty cool attacks like Meteorain, cross slash, omnislash, and alternate costumes too, like Shinra outfit Cloud and Final Battle Sephiroth. Vincent could also shoot his gun. You should look it up on Youtube.

Er.... NAMCO didn't make it IIRC, although the arcade version uses NAMCO's system.

**Ripping the models are not allowed to be discussed, but if anyone makes similar models from scratch, that would be OK.
