It used to work? Hmm. Have you installed any other mods recently? Sometimes things conflict with each other, it's the only reason I can think of why it would suddenly stop working.

Nope, or at least I don't think so. The only mods that I've installed are the World Map Reconstruction(Phoenix) one, Aali graphics overhaul, and some character mods.

Hmm... It's having trouble playing audio at all. It's very weird that it would have this problem with OGGs but not PSFs.

What output plugin are you using? I suggest giving out_ds.dll a try if you're not already, it tends to be more reliable if you've got other software (such as ff7) using sound also. You'll also wanna make sure ff7config is set to the right audio device.

I was using out_wave.dll. Like you said, I switched it to out_ds.dll. For ff7config, I only have one audio device and have been using that ever since I started playing FF7PC, however the OST Remastered music used to work for me, but it doesn't now for some reason.

That's weird, I've never seen that before. Could you paste your ff7music log after attempting to play with OGGs?

Did you use my installer? If so, only the download marked "Full installer" comes with the remastered songs. It should be a few hundred megabytes, as opposed to the "minimal installer" which is only ~3MB and only includes the PSFs.

Yes, I did use your installer. The problem isn't that I don't have the music. I do. It's just that the music isn't playing when I select it in FF7Music. Like when I change the profile to OSTRemastered.

Hi,

I downloaded the OST Remastered music and I can select it in FF7Music. However, the music doesn't seem to be playing. The only version that I can get it working is the PSF files. The OST Remastered music is in the file format of .ogg. Does this make a difference?, and how do I set it so that the music plays the OST Remastered versions. Each song has already been designated to a song from the OST Remastered music.

launchff7 opens ff7music minimized and then opens ff7. It's only to make things easier if it's all set up correctly.

What output plugin are you using? If it's set to out_wave.dll, try out_ds instead, and vice versa. Some systems have problems with one or the other.

I don't have out_ds.

My installer automatically sets XP SP2 mode, if you're using Vista/7. I can't recall why, it was a long time ago when I set it to do that, but I think it's related to plugin compatibility. I was mainly checking on the offchance it'd become unset.

To be honest, I have no clue what's going on, I've never seen this before. Does FF7Music have a valid sound device set?

Yes,FF7Music has a valid sound device. In the Input Plugin section of the configuration, it says that it's set to in_vgmstream.dll, but then right under it it says "<no plugin>"

EDIT: So I saw there was two files, one called launchFF7.exe and FF7Music.exe. I tried both applications, launchFF7.exe brings up FF7Music and just crashes, whereas FF7Music.exe brings up FF7Music but doesn't work at all.

Troubleshooting / FF7Music Crashing

Hi everyone,

I recently tried to play FF7 PC and FF7 Music keeps crashing.I've got FF7 PC to work for a while, and then stopped playing it for a couple of months. Last time I updated FF7 Music was in December of 2011. Also, I somehow got FF7 Music to stop crashing, and in the log it says "ERROR: Cannot create device" and "Not connected 1" "Not connected 2". I check the setup tab in the configuration, and it says "no plugin". I try to select in_mad.dll and it gives me an error saying "Access violation at address 0047D65B in module "FF7Music.exe". Read of address 00000028." Gahhhhhhh so many problems @_@. This is the second time that something was wrong with FF7Music. Last time was I just had to update it to a more current version.

"Cannot create device" has nothing to do with where it's located. As PitBrat said, set up your audio devices in ff7config.exe. Also make sure the right output device is selected in FF7Music (if you used my installer, open ff7music from the start menu) and go to the settings for your output plugin to make sure it's configured right.

The audio device has been set up correctly in FF7config.exe, and now a new problem arises. When i try to run FF7music with the shortcut that had been put onto my desktop with the installer, FF7music.exe crashes. Odd...

-edit-

Nevermind, it works fine now. Thanks for the help guys!  :)

It's looking for the music folder in the C: drive? Because that's where I put it. Unless it's looking for something else?

Hi, I wanted to get back to FF7 after a long time of wait, so I had already installed FF7PC and all the mods before. So it worked perfectly fine. But when i got back to it just recently, I wasn't able to run FF7. Ficedula is giving me a weird message.
This is what i got.

I don't understand what's wrong, so could someone please help me? I have all the correct settings, like compatibility mode set to windows 98. 10 save files for Aali's driver and such. Once again, FF7PC worked fine for me, and after i left it for a while, it stopped working. =/  Thanks.
