Scripting and Reverse Engineering / Re: [FF9]2016 release
« on: 2016-05-15 19:52:58 »
Wow! Big progress I see here!
Is there possible to add a language option on the language menu as for now?
Or it's just easier to change one of them to the language I want?

Awesome!! Your program has everything to be the best ff8 dialogs editor out there, and also the only one which can edit scripts AFAIK
C++ right? Will it be open source? Not that I want to modify it, but cuz you're doing stuff I planned to do, but my programming skills still level 10 xD , that's why I were unable to do lots of things I wanted. Would be nice to take a look at your source to see what I was doing wrong.

This project is currently discontinued as descripted in 1st post, but for multiple requests reasons, link fixed and version updated to the last one I have.
Sorry for the delay  ::)

Is source not available anymore? =/

Thanks, that will help for sure. Still I need the opcodes descriptions. As the gears is pretty outdated.

Hey, I'm needing a opcodes list and description just like the wiki version, but I need a version I can use offline. .doc or .pdf will do, if someone happens to have it to share I'll be really grateful.
btw it seems this link its unavailable. If someone have a new link to the gears pdf... idk if it is updated but it might help with some tasks im doing.

i would love to help reversing if i knew how to do it... =/

I think it's a compatibility issue with my laptop's graphic card (HP Compaq 510) and Aali's custom driver. On my desktop computer with Nvidia GF 9400 i didn't had any issues at all.

Hmm, Hi.. it seems my ff7 is having a problem with the fonts.

Did you tried to reinstall the game? Do the sound test and music test in ff7config works?
Are you using "run as admin" when executing ff7.exe ?

- and yes sound effects in fmvs dont work ( like character voices)
- sound effects in fmvs dont work ( like character voices)
- fmvs dont work ( like character voices)
- like character voices
- character voices

Sorry if this is necro-posting already, but this one really bugs me!
First of all, people post questions and thinks we have clairvoyance abilities to guess which game they are referring.
Also, even so my guess would be ff7, ff8 or ff9, in any case, where the "character voices" in fmv's take place?

On a side note, I must try to control myself and stop reacting to these kind of personalities. Everytime I see a geostigma post, I go nuts!

how can i use palmer?....
download and experiment.  You keep asking all these question and making threads, use the search function and find it.  Every question you have asked has already been answered, and simply asking "how can i use palmer?"is not gonna get you anywhere.  Read the the previous pages in this thread to see how to use palmer.

whats the lifestream project?..

Well, even so English is not my native language, it annoys me to read through these type of posts. And I always think to myself, if annoys me, that I'm not a native english speaker, how must native english speakers feel when reading through these?

Also... on a side note:

  • Get to know things called 'grammar', 'punctuation' and 'capitalization'.

They are very helpful when it comes to writing text that even other people understand. Yes, I can hear your little keys clicking, typing "but they understand just fine if i type like this all the time lol what is wrong with you lol". No doubt they do, because they most likely are way smarter than you. You, however, are not in position to expect that others do your work for you.

Typing with care is not only about producing text that can be understood without taking time to guess if the "author" meant that you are a hairy assed monkey or you have hairy assed monkey (you're vs your), it's also about showing certain degree of respect towards the people who read your texts.

I can perfectly run ff7 and ff8 on my W7.

I had to reinstall my windows 7 a while back and now I can't seem to make ff8 works.
Crash after Eidos FMV.
Using ff8.exe 1.2 Nvidia patch
Debug shows Unhandled exception at 0x0051beef in FF8.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x646c6569.
Any ideias?

FF8 Tools / Re: Cactuar - another FF8 Dialogs Editor

I've made an update, implemented export/import to txt functions. For people who don't like to edit each dialog at time, you can edit now the entire level file in the txt exported then import back to it.
Still have some values to identify, but that may not cause problems if you don't touch the unindentified bytes.
As I'm not in home now, not in my pc. I just wanted to share this info. But I'll be posting the update as soon as I get back to home, maybe Monday morning.
Also, started to implement multi-language support.

Update on the first post.

Weirdly enought, I also can't seem to run it without your driver, the game starts, play the Eidos FMV, then crashes.
I'll try to get another ff8.exe to see if it solves the problem, but I'm not at my pc now, may try that later.
Thank you.

What does everyone mean? I am confus

every person; everybody

USAGE: Everyone and everybody are interchangeable, as are no one and nobody, and someone and somebody. Care should be taken to distinguish between everyone and someone as single words and every one and some one as two words, the latter form correctly being used to refer to each individual person or thing in a particular group: every one of them is wrong.

I'm willing to help, even so, my programming knowledge is little.

Even many of the contributors to the Tech forums write Engrish that would warrant a comment.

It's a tricky question about whether there's any point in trying to fix it anymore - except for the most blatant cases where the person stops making any sense at all.

Also, there is s lot of people cases here, where English is not it's native language. I'm one for that case. I R Brazilian.
I has very very bad engrish. lol j/k -  But I try my best..
