In my opinion, it's all for the good as Final Fantasy VII is for me the best episode in the FF series, light years ahead its direct sequel.

Hello dziugo!

First, let me thank you for your work! Congratulations!

Now, forgive me if I sound dumb or any thing but I'd like to ask you if your patches are compatible with Reunion's, the Saint's and the NPC reconstruction project ? If so, it'd be perhaps good to point it out!

Thanks!

Bord and Ice-cold513,

do not give up!! There are many people like me that don't post much but follow closely and with extreme interest your progress!!

And we all think you are doing a great, marvellous job! If you guys would not mind, I personally would simply love to see the NPC models number updated regularly so that the number of the models done would be increasing as this Topic develops. It's a way to live with you each step ahead towards the right direction!

Let me thank you again and keep it up!

Well...The warning of The Skillster worries me...Can anybody confirm what he's saying ?  :-?

Thanks for your suggestion, dziugo and compliments for your latest Multimod release. I do appreciate it.

Surely even if I had the capability, I'd not want to set the stealing to be always successful. I kinda of hate cheating.

But to make the stealing rate more reasonable, yes...I think it's fair so I will follow your advice and try editing the scene.bin

Is it something that anyone can do ?

As I mentioned, I have no modding experience nor any special feeling with the PC...

Thanks!

I am curious to know how many of you, like me, find that the most frustrating part of the game is to prolong - and sometimes it becomes unbearable - fights in order to steal something from en enemy...

Well...I believe that it's possible, through an editor, to change the stealing rate for monsters and I wonder if anybody who would know how to do it, would not mind making a mod like this.

If nobody is interested, can perhaps somebody tell me if I could do it myself despite my absolute ignorance about computers ?

Great job, pal! Thanks go to you and your dog!

just a perhaps stupid question: why don't you directly make your modified char.lpg and those other needed files downloadable after your modifications so that they just need to be copy pasted in the proper directories ?

In this way, lots of users that can't (for some reason), make the conversion, won't have any more problems  :) I personally had no issuess with the process itself but, for instance, Ficedula's tool often locked up my system and other people might have similar problems with this program.

But perhaps size does matter and the file'd be too big to upload...Thanks a lot for your wonderful project!

I - and I am sure many, many others - would believe that tweaking the stealing rate would reduce drastically one of the main point of frustrations of the game. As it is by default, stealing is just a big pain in the ass which people won't accept to go through (and they're right).

Tweaking it to increase the success rate to a reasonable level instead will make fighting much more enjoyable and people will actaully try and steal things off the enemies.

I do hope you will accept to implement a minor tweaking (raising some the percentage of success) to the stealing rate so that it will be enough for me to just use your Mod to have its benefits! Thanks a lot!

That's just great,M4v3R! I'd love to see a patch that sets the stealing rate to a reasonable level mostly because with the Hardcore patch, surviving battles for a longer time in order to steal becomes even more difficult and frustrating...Perhaps Elantor might include some tweaking to the stealing rate in his own patch ? I think most people agree with me that the this could stop much of the frustration in battles...Cheers!

The Saint,

I have tried your patch on a Geforce 6800 with AA 8X and Anisotropic 16X...It works flawlessly...Thanks and keep it up,man!

Forgive my intrusion and perhaps the silly question: can one edit how succesfull the stealing rate is ? I have always found this extremely frustrating and, if possible, I'd make the chances higher by default. Sorry if this request is stupid or simply posted in the wrong topic. Thanks for all you guys are doing for FF7 fans like me!

Forgive my perhaps silly question but being a newbie I think I'd like your opinions about this.

Are the Hands Patch, the Battle->Field Patch, the FFVII High Resolution patch all compatible one with the others ?

Also: does it matter the order such patches are installed ?

Thanks for your replies!

Hello and thanks for sharing your project with us all.

I think your original idea of rebalancing the game is *EXTREMELY* interesting and I had hoped someone could come up with it.

I do appreaciate your job but please consider something that for me is mandatory: the general difficulty level of the game might be well enhanced by your modifications BUT...but I do believe that there is a Boss in the game that is *totally* overpowered, spoiling the game. At least it partly spoiled the game ( for me still the best of the series) for me.

I am speaking about Emerald Weapon. To kill this boss it's almost needed to not only have a certain summoning materia but also to mime it continuously being also protected by "Life3". Not to mention that the whole fighting becomes very very frustrating and repetitive. The player finds himself being killed after spending 20 minutes in the fight just to start it over again for the 35th time. Yes, there is no need to defeat such a boss in order to finish the game but still why make it so frustrating ?

This challenge makes all the rest in the game pale at comparison. Square made this error, according to me, of making this "bonus boss" unbalanced. Should you want to defeat her, must you go with an extremely strong party. And if you go with an extremely strong party, then all the rest of the game will be too easy.

I assume that people try and fight Emerald when they have the opportunity and not just before the final challenge against Sephiroth. Also, people would like to be rewarded for defeating these "bonus bosses" in the middle of the game and not by the end.

So please consider the possibility of making Emerald *less* strong than she is by dafault. I'd think the whole gameplay would benefit of this.

A second issue which is also very frustrating (and it's a classic in the FF series) is the STEAL option. It's way way way too frustrating to keep on trying stealing from bosses for 100 times before you can actually make it! I do believe that the success rate of stealing should be pretty much raised in order to make it enjoyable. I had found myself (not only in FF7) spending one or two hour with a boss untill I could finally get an item out of him...This is crazy...I don't know if that is something that can be modified but it's somethig I would definitely do...

will you bet I am gonna guess which group crimsondante up here belongs to ?  :D
