All it takes is manners. And good grammar, too.

I can't understand why someone can't have a little decency and write a little better. It's seriously not difficult at all. Eh, whatever, I'm beginning to babble. Happy holidays :D

Troubleshooting / After Yuffie battle crash
« on: 2005-12-17 22:25:30 »
I would assume you know how to set compatibility mode, but if you don't, right-click the Final Fantasy VII executable and go to the "Details" tab (not sure what it is called, it is the second tab, though) and check the compatibility mode box. I set it for Windows 98 mode and the speed of my game at the slow parts finally caught up with the normal speed.

For instance, my game would run really slow and glitchy on the world map (and crash inconveniently oftenly) prior to setting the compatibility mode, but after I did, it runs perfect. Maybe this would solve your problem?

Isn't this kind of like that Chrono Trigger: Resurrection or whatever?

That one was probably more extreme than this, though, because as I recall, they were making Chrono Trigger three dimensional, and the little demo I had played was impressive. Of course, as I am sure you all know, they got a cease and desist.

But still. Same concept. Square-Enix, the bastards they are, would have every right to stop what goes on on these boards as it is, so it isn't a smart idea to make something like that. In fact, this might even be a more favorable target for them since this seems to take Final Fantasy VII and puts it in a relatively new world with a new story. Not a good idea, especially with all of the Advent Children and whatnot up and coming.

I'm not against the idea at all or anything, but the thing is, what exactly would you want to do in a New Game+ for this game? With Chrono Trigger, you could get the Rainbow Shell and have Melchior make the other item(s) that he didn't make the first time. Although, to do it on one go, you can have him make three Prism Helms and then you can steal three Prism Helms from the three Queen Zeals throughout the ages in the Black Omen. You can also steal three Prism Dresses, too, so it sort of negates New Game+ for Chrono Trigger in that sense.

Okay, that was horribly off-topic, so I guess the only thing you could do is get items again? Or, I guess, items you missed...hm...I guess it could be fun. I'd be willing to help out in any way that I could.

In my opinion, those stats are even still a little underpowered. I'd tack on an additional three or four million hit points to each of the final bosses. It would give players a little incentive to get up in the higher levels.

I've already did this in a scene.bin that I made for myself. I gave Jenova*SYNTHESIS about 15,000,000 hit points but little stats. The battle freaking dragged ON. I had it set up, though, so my characters had 255 of the main stats, so it wasn't the damage that mattered, it was just because the battle just dragged on. Bizarro had like 1,500,000 credited to each portion and like 2,000,000 to his core. And then Safer had, I think, 22,000,000 but I didn't bother finishing him. I had already been fighting for a good half hour, no joke.

For some reason, I also made First Class SOLDIERs extremely difficult to kill. Lots of health and strength. I like First Class SOLDIERs.

Archive / FF7: German to English. How is it possible?

There aresome files in the data foldercalled "*_gm.lgp" or "*-ge.lgp" or g*.
Try to rename them like this:
*_gm.lgp to *_us.lgp
*-ge.lgp to *-us.lgp
g*... (for example gchocobo.lgp) to (for example chocobo.lgp)
Some people say this works

Grisu

I have no idea how that would work. Wouldn't the file need like an English reference? I just don't think it's that easy.

But maybe I am wrong. I'd be greatly upstaged and astounded if someone tells me that works, though.

Yeah, I have some questions, too.

I downloaded the first download link on the previous page. I believe it was the "Non-SD version" and whatnot. However, when I applied the mod, the NPCs were really small. I don't really know what SD or non-SD means, so if someone could explain that, it would be helpful.

I've pretty much skimmed through this entire thread and I can't make head or tail of most of the computer language and abbreviations in here. I know how to apply the patches and everything; I just want to know what patch would make the NPCs look proportional in size to my Battle>Field converted main characters. And what would be the most updated patch.

Thanks.  :D

All of this is incredible. I wouldn't have even expected this much from an official game company, like Square-Enix. Wow. Keep up the good work!!

--Yeah, I'm new here, but I'll probably post in and out. I hope to get to know you guys.  :D
