I'd like to do everyone, but I can't spend too much time on separate project like this if I want to build a career...  :P It takes time to hone skills and master a craft, and it helps when you're getting paid to do it in the mean-by  ;D

Well guys, I haven't forgotten about you! Things didn't go the way I wanted... But here we are, and I'm now finally gainfully employed doing this kind of stuff for a living Huzzah!

I hope to soon resume this project. Empty promises I know  :-\ I've said it all before and life forged ahead anyways. But now I have a career in the industry, and allot more talent. I hope to match that Sephiroth I saw posted here a while ago. My model will be awesome, and readily available for you all.

I can't promise when I can begin, but I do know that it won't take long once I start. Honestly I don't even know how many folks will care  :P There's no way he'll be as popular as APZ Cloud (Which, I might add, I haven't gotten any e-mails about in a long time... re-releasing him seemed to have been a smart move!) But it'll be cool, and there will be genuine folks who like it. All that I know for a fact. How many there are isn't a concern. As long as one person enjoys it... Then I did my job  :)

 ;D My advice is this: LEARN FROM IT

I looked at the ripped Kingdom Hearts models and learned more from studying that... than many students at my school learned in almost 2 years! Of course mostly what I learned was better uv laying (which is still pretty wasteful in APZ Cloud ;) ) and texture painting. But it gave me a foundation for seeing in polygons and NOW... I was one of the few at the top of my graduating class. I understand edge-looping and retopology like nobody's business. (Which still puts me at entry level in my industry... But it's a solid foundation to build from)

Soon I'll move into animation and away from video game stuffs... But I learned allot and enjoyed it. Once I finally get my career underway I'll let you guys see the results!

Remember... I'm not amazing, I'm not some super genius, I'm not a master... I merely enjoy what I do... And I like to share the results  :) No matter what you do in life.... If you can find a way to enjoy it... You'll have the upper hand!  :evil:

As much as I appreciate everyone who loves this model...

I must ask the forum posters to please stop making iterations and different versions of my mod.

I never dreamed I'd say something like this... and I cannot and will not stop you. I just ask that if you are interested in this kind of thing... that you use your time building the skills necessary to make your own creations. And not using mine as a base for minor alterations.

Love it, hate it, I've heard it all. This has been a fantastic microcosm of what it's like to make content for mass distribution and fan interaction. I'd rather inspire new talent. Realize, I'm not demonizing any of you. It all comes from an honest place, and I understand that fact. It's flattering  ;) In no way am I trying to be negative about this. I'm merely asking kindly to focus your time and effort into more productive things.

Yall have every right to do these kinds of things, but I'd prefer not to see various continuations of my model  :-\

I'll calmly ask folks to try making their own. But I will do nothing to stop what you're doing.

edit: If you want to make a field model I'll approve, I encourage you to export the model pieces into a modeling programs and manipulate the verticies yourself into something that looks like this:



I do not like the prp style of mods, it could be great, but in the end it just ends up making the game look awkward in a different way than it's original awkwardness. No better, no worse. But if someone were to practice modeling, and grow their skills in a way that can be used out in the real world... Those are the things that I would encourage.

I'm not above learning and growing, it's what makes art fun. APZ Cloud was the first character model I ever made, and I based it on Kingdom Heart's style of painted on shadows. I studied how they look and made a facsimile in my own style, APZ Cloud is the result. And I had constructive help here on this board to get the details right. It's okay to ask for help, but I'm not  the guy to ask  :) because I have too much responsibility to pay attention to this place too often. I'm not trying to be mean, just honest bro.

Enjoying a well earned break. I'm going to finish a few characters I have, release my Doom 3 mod (it's done, just not packed for the internet yet) THEN! I'll start on New Canon Cloud again :)

If the diffuse has no baked in lighting then it would appear very flat with the limited lighting capabilities of FFVII pc. And although apparently Aali added normal map support... I wouldn't suggest trying it. Baked lighting on a simple mesh will just look better. The battle mode has NO lighting what-so-ever, and with that in mind, must be taken into consideration. And the 512x512 texture map limit. Really neatly packed uv's are needed

I found this elsewhere on the net, and actually downloaded your pictures. Unbeknownst to me you had came here and asked how to get this in the game. It's refreshing to find a like-minded individual who studied the nuances of the different portrayals as closely as I had. And talented to boot!

I made the infamous APZ Cloud, but that's a strange thing to proudly announce considering how far I've come since then. Not embarrassing, just not to the standard of quality I'm capable of today.

I could help you out. There's not weight painting or skinning involved, and I could give you a rundown of what would work best and how to accomplish it. I'll send you a pm and we can talk.

Just checked the stats.

900~ish downloads of APZ Cloud (I didn't write the exact count down before I updated it for the last time, but it was about 200~ish)

I graduate soon, and we'll see what happens after that. I may just tackle Cloud and maybe someone else once I go through my character creation run through of practice. Then it's on to my 2D animation talents while I work in the field.

Underneath the banner image (the image it's self is a link) Mirror 1 and mirror 2.

The DLC is alternate textures to for the download. You want "apzcloud_FINAL.rar"

Was it the "apzcloud_FINAL.rar"

That's the file that you should have downloaded. I just check them and it's the correct one. Check to make sure you have the ability to use .rar files.

I wrote simple instructions in the readme included with the download. I would have included a "for dummies" version if asked, but believe it or not, since 2008 when I first released it.... No one has yet asked for a step by step instructions. (All told it makes for over 10 thousand downloads)

It's in the read me, and requires downloading a program in order to put the files into the battle.lpg. Because it's not legal for me to provide the battle.lpg as a download. Just the modified files.

Sorry man. It don't exist anymore. That was 5 computers ago and about 4 years. And I'm not focusing on APZ Cloud anymore, once I get around to making New Canon Cloud I'll make a chibi for that.

Like I said. Provide a clear explanation for anyone who wants to combine my model with other mods (Pictures will help) I encourage making your own tutorial thread for those who want to do this.

I personally don't do that, and I'm pretty sure 80 percent of my downloaders aren't part of the community and wouldn't need to change that. Since it makes an annoying error message without the other mods present. I can't provide a product that produces errors when it's the only one installed. I'm sorry, but I can't do that.

The legs and arms are APZ Cloud. Please don't use my model that way. Learn from it, I encourage learning. But please don't use pieces of it and it's texture.

I would think Square's color explanation can be addressed in the fmvs of Crisis Core. The fact that Zacks first rank uniform was dark grey or black in the game was purely for a stylish gameplay asthetic reason. He's not wearing "black" in the fmvs. But dark blue, Cloud's always shown wearing dark blue.

I made the "Dark Cloud" for fun because Cloud and Link share a common spot in my head for some reason (Dark Link, get it)

Alright fine. I've been asked enough. I'll set up a DLC package with a Dark Cloud and the black uniform since it's so heavily requested. (But I'm not calling it "First Class Uniform" because it's not... It's just black)

Does anyone have the old APZ cloud?
I personally like the older face better cause its "rougher" and less babyface cloud. (I know im bad at explaining things, so theres no need to point that out ^^)

I don't know if you mean the ripped one or version 1 that was out for like 2 weeks I think before I gave him a new head with the ripped texture. The first first release was 100% original.

In all honesty just look at it. Version 1.0 had even MORE of a baby-face  :P THEN I released the one everybody came to know with the new head that had the plagarized face texture.

AND IF you mean the plagarized texture before the re-release... Just take a close look:



And I addressed all the issues folks were complaining about, even the percieved "baby-faced-ness" with the shape of the shadow on his cheeks and what-not while making it different enough and slightly more crappy to match up with the sloppiness of the rest of the texture. The ONLY thing changed here was the face texture. So I don't see any reason to discount it  ;)


EITHER WAY the answer is probably no... I don't have the files of the first version, and I think this last final re-release of APZ Cloud was the definitive version. Also this time the quality of the texture map is equal to the psd master file, instead of the slightly degraded version out before.

Official APZ support has run out on APZ Cloud if you will  ;) I have no more interest in ever opening these files ever again. Have fun with it, use it, whatever you want. But the previous versions aren't available, and I honestly don't think the difference is really all that worth it to hunt and find  :P
