we trying to state that doesn't seem to matter what someone believes in, They are still Human.

Opinion is divided on the matter, both in the athiest & religious communities.

Alot of people think too highly of themselves or that they are somehow better than others and are unwilling to accept others for who they are, thats what starts this shite off ... its not a belief dependant trait.

at the same time believe that religion is some sort of justification.

Someone with an agenda has to convince them of it first, as far as i know its against every religion there is, you know "Love thy neihbor as you would love yourself" and all those sayings you here every now and then. Either that or they are just fools that have chosen to ignor alot of thier own religion, or have been taught wrong.

I really hate this metaphor that im going to use, and your going to hate it as well... but lattely ive been watching those so called reality shows (the dance one to be a little more specific), and there are those people that try out for the show, thinking that they can dance well because they have been taking lessons for the last five years and so on... but then they do their little one minute thing and they completely suck because they have in fact been taught by a bad instructor whos really either just interested in getting paid, or was also been taught by a bad instructor. Thats how alot of people are, im sure you've all heard the saying before... "the blind lead the blind" its got nothing to do with the religion but them passing on their own twisted perspective of the religion.
Then the more you hasle the people with that religion just because of a few bad apples, the more of them start to accept that same twisted perspective. You cannot fight fire with fire.
(oh crap, how many  more of these stupid sayings can i fit in this post)

In the story of adam and eve, the serpent (aka the devil) was said to have twisted the words of god to convince them to sin.

On the other hand, i dont know anything about the islamic religion so it could be completely trucked up for all i know, but i assume that if it was there would be a whole lot less people following it.

So if someone were to make an awesome model on the same quality scale as something in a newer game (Half-Life 2, Oblivion, etc) would it work in FF7PC, or would there be too many polygons to handle or something of that sort?

Oh I think it's possible, very possible:-D

Use Reunion's PCreator program to make a model into the .p model format.  I have not heard of a polygon limit yet.

Official Site

Impressive, but the high quality model looks kinda odd on the low quality backgrounds and i like the less realistic looking approach in fantasy games where they are all stumpy.

"Insanity in individuals is something rare - but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule" ~ Friedrich Nietzsche

I think that applies to the whole getting shot while waiting for a ps3 scenario quite well

Okay so i guess the DS is the way to go, ill guess i will put my duel screen phobia behind me and go get one...

also FF3 has just come out on it, thats been a huge deciding factor for me.

so back topic, i was seriously considering a psp because i decided that portability was important & well the price of the ps3 is just too much & i have zero interest in the wii or xbox.

I like the hardware & look of the psp, and the size of the screen (not too keen on the duel screens on the ds). But the problem is there is no decent games available for it... is this ever going to change?

Considerably larger than the difference between a modern PC and modern console. Back then consoles were truly dedicated gaming machines, while computers were... well, computers.

Or like Wikipedia says:

Quote
A video game console is an interactive entertainment computer. The term is used to distinguish a machine designed for consumers to buy and use solely for playing video games from a personal computer, which has many other functions, or arcade games, which are designed for businesses to buy and then charge others to play.

I can't even believe that I have to explain something so fundamental.

Pity that (world's only?) webserver running on C64 seems to be down.

Its hardly fundamental, how people categorise things is completely up to them alone. I doubt the ISO has determined what decides the difference between a console and microcomputer & i doubt they ever will as there is not much point. And its not like we all have to obey the organisation even if they did/have.

To stereotype something as a microcomputer just because of the way it was designed without any consideration as to what it was & will be used for is rather stupid.
Just like it stupid of me to stereotype the c64 as a console just because i used & treated it like one.
The only truely acceptable stereotype for a object / item really is the name it has been given or none at all.

So as to refrase and widen the scope my question so it is at a agreeable level for everyone on this forum and to prevent further arguement (hopefully),
What electrical devices that plug into a television set do any of you own and like to use to play video games on?
or handheld portable electrical devices that you also use?

and as a bonus question, was the psp any good? what are some good games for one? or is the ds better?

Amiga 600
Commodore 64

Uhh... to yourself. Since when have these two been consoles of any kind?

The commodore was a awesome console with its tape deck plug-in, lol. I had space invaders, tron, digger(dig-dug) & others on it.

This whole ordeal is ridiculous. Campers where I live spent 48+ hours waiting in line for best buy, and when the moment of truth came, only 4 consoles were available... As for me and my brothers, I think "Wii" are going to get a... well you know  :-P

What makes your browser better
all of the above

What do you love the most about your browser

What would make your browser better
If it came with free microwave oven and a fridge.

Opera
I tried it first before firefox, was kinda impressed till i tried firefox. which to me is much better & without the quirks of opera. I cannot remember what it was but there was one particular thing about opera that used to give me the shits every time i used it.

On a sort-of/but-not-really money related humerous side note, i have some how managed to make 40000 gold by selling alcoholic apple pie's & pet dog ribs since i installed it the other day. LoL.

This is, what i understand of it from marketing course at uni.

Stock are tangable objects, such as iron ore & coal. If you buy stock what you are really buying is loads of some item sitting in storage someware. So playing the stock market is EXTREMELY risky & complicated... after you've bought stock you do not sit around waiting for them to increase in value, you sell it as SOON as possible. Selling your stock to someone willing to pay a little extra than what you purchase it for is not good enough... you need to take into consideration their location, how much is it going to take to ship it their, trade policies, embargo's & stuff like that and of coarse the location of your stock.

Think of the stockmarket as a B2B version of ebay, a much more complicated version of ebay... & in fact there are other on-line auctions that are restricted to businesses alone, for trading stuff like hardware, office supplies and so on...

Shares on the other hand are when you buy part ownership of a business, only a very small part, as whoever has 51% gains control over the company and can basically direct it as they see fit. when you buy shares the company will offer a negotiable percentage & price to a limited number of people... the company can charge whatever they like for the percentage but as long as the buyer is willing to risk that amount. After you've bought shares you just sit around and wait, as the company increases in size & profit so does the return of your shares e.g. if you invested $100 and the company increased by 10% your now $10 richer if you pull your shares out of the company.

however there is a huge risk with shares, when you buy shares the company is free to do what it likes with that money... if they spend it, then the business goes broke & files for bankruptcy the chances of you getting that money back is zilch, also another thing to watch out for is people selling shares to companies that they don't own or don't actually have the shares to sell you and various other schemes to basically screw you over.

why a stock market?
why a fish market? ... pretty self explainatory. one sells fish while one sells stock. The most obvious example of stock is cattle. The current droughts in aus have made their stock worthless, you can pretty much buy a few hundred cows for $50 possibly cheaper... the problem is having somewhere to put them & how many of them may need to be put down.

To me stocks & shares are something that only the rich have the money to risk on.

Not to mention, if you'd breach the outer wall, then what? The prisoners are still in their cells, there are armed guards around... more suicide bombers (Lemmings-style)? :P

Id pay to see that, lol.

The said groups don't really have means or resources to stage a rescue from some place on the other side of the globe.

I don't think it would take much for one to get a passport, strap on a bomb and blow themselves up outside the prison.

However, like i said i agree that he should be kept alive in prison. The announcement of his death sentence has allready angered quite a large group of people.

Arx is pretty immersive, yes. :-)
Heh, i reinstalled it after that post... played for about 8 hours allready.

It had the potential to be a really great game, but has loads of control issues & naggles that just remind you your still playing a game with bugs... on my pc if i switch off v-sync the charater will run super fast in some areas.

There was said to be some time ago a official remake comming out under a different title, it was announced on thier website.

heh, i just realised its Dark Messiah: Might & Magic. Its through UBI as the publisher instead of JoWood, but the development team is still the same (Arkane Studios). Well not quite a remake in the general sense.

SS2 is yet another game i havent finished... hmmm, i havent finished much games have i.

EDIT:
Holy hell i cannot stop playing arx fatalis, its so much better than my initial opinion was last time i played it like a year ago. The games got more secrets in it than FF. And as a word of advice, dont ever try stealing from a ice dragon no matter how big your sword is (mines a huge two hander). I guess im going to be getting dark messiah after all, but not before i finish this.

... I'm willing to bet money on that Saddam becomes a greater man (in influence) in death than he ever was in life. Any takers?

I agree, but there is also the possiblility that some groups might fight to free him.

So your dammed if you do and dammed if you dont.

72
Not exactly one of my favourite games, i havent even finished it... but Arx Fatalis is pretty immersive. Spell casting is pretty cool in it two, you have to do little hand gestures to cast or prep the spell. I would highly recommend it for fans of Deus Ex... i never finished Deus Ex either, but from what ive seen fans of Deus Ex are usually fans of Arx Fatalis as well

Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II was cool, but i never got to try that manual light sabre control mod for it.

Homeworld series, the only strategy game that has a story more awsome than most other genres. Another game i would recommend...

As for up and comming games i would keep a look out for Bioshock if i was you.

How can I decide between the rare chance at my dream and the life of my boss’s company?

From my experience with bosses its screw or be screwed. They act all friendly and loyal untill right up till the moment they fire you.

Pack up and chase your dreams i say, from the sounds of it the company is very unstable... its not worth the risk when their is a better job prospect available.

74
Yeah my mistake,
it used to be ATI video cards (not GeForce) that allowed you to use shaders but for some reason the ability to use them has been removed from most of the latest drivers. Im running modified drivers + ATI tray tools which gives you the options but they still dont work. The only way i can think of getting them to work again is to downgrade them, which i dont want to do.

*edit

Well i downgraded to Catalist 5.1 drivers to see if they would work. And they do, but there is no effects worth downgrading for... basically you have the choice of black & white or classic (gold looking black & white). And the good effects such as Stylise, sharpen & emboss are only available for opengl apps, so they dont work for D3D apps like final fantasy.

I also noticed that trueform is another feature also no longer supported, not that it matters ive never seen it work on a single game.

General Discussion / Re: FF:Origins or FF:DoS

DoS is also playable on large screens, provided you have a Game Boy Player.
you can get it looking pretty good with one too, but the spell animations are terrible.
