Team Avalanche / Re: Resolution
« on: 2010-01-08 12:02:02 »
i play on my monitor @ 1680*1050 it is a 16:10 aspect.

aali, sounds good, if you don't mind i would like a copy of that code. however the Wine version might be a bit more workable on my machine :), i'll see what i can do. but i can't make any promise that it will work in the end , also i prolly would need some one to cross complie for me since i don't have a windows machine...

Aali has previously said that he could do something about ff7music, not exactly sure if it was a seperate program or tied into his driver somehow. But he is a busy person, I am sure he will get around to it when he feels like it.
i understand that he is very busy, i was wondering if i could get some further info so i could attempt to create a solution. for this issue.

as some of you may know i run this game w/ wine on a linux machine. lately ff7music is once again on the fritz. other wise ff7 works perfectly (thanks again aali for this awesome video driver). i get sound effects. but no backround music. this whole outdated ff7music thing has got to go.. i was thinking since this driver works perfectly w/ wine and there for should allow ff7 to be played on just about any platform w/ wine support. why not create a ff7music plug in for the video driver. now i know there is one that uses ff7music but its not exactly what i am proposing. this plug in would bascily do the work off ff7music thus elimiating it and enabling users to easily set there own custom songs. in the plugin's config

first off is this possilbe w/ your video driver, or does this reside more in the area of the exe. if its not possible does any one know if ff7 supports its own native music driver in a similar way that it supports the gfx driver?
if it is possible, what sort of external calls does the driver make in terms of the soundtrack. and how would i go about creating a plugin for it ?

I ask the people that know me or had saw me working on this project to please express it, because i have been left behind due the number of my posts, and i think that the effort and hours that i dedicate it to this project are more valuable than a bunch of statistics numbers in my profile.

Cordially, Vegeta_Ss4

yea vegeta is good, if it was not for him i would only have half of battle.lgp done :), i would also like access.

will this project still be availble with out a windows based installer? as in i can still hand patch the needed files, i am afraid that depending on how you create this installer wine wont run it.

been away a little while (new job/very busy). i am back although only slowly working on the remaining pictures for battle.lgp now.. (check the sheet), might be a few more weeks before i clear enuff of the what i have to get done to get back to serious work on this project. that being said,

if someone would like to do some of the pics(look at all the red links), please pm me so they we don't dup work (pics should be saved as .png named according to file there of), i will still host the pictures just pm me when done and i will get them from you. this help would be a HUGE help towards finishing battle.lgp, just about all that remains in that part of the sheet.

@NFITC1, the sheet is still up and link on first page works just  fine.
@Halkun, i second sticky.
@all contrubutiors, thank you all for your work on the sheet, no one person could do this alone, it would take forever.

thats great.. thanks for the link

magic.lgp does have files as well as the battle folder (with more stuff in it...)

i have made a text file of the file in it can be viewed @

got all the dups and empty lines out of battle.lgp and set up all my links for the pics ,almost all texture files(files ending in ac-al up to p***) are on the server, links need to be checked and working ones need to be turned blue, but i gives me something to do @ work :)

any one know of a quicker way to get model to a png?  currently i use biturn and take snapshots of the model, with a program that allows for a section of the screen to be saved as a picture, it works good but not fast, textures are way faster cause i can just convert them to .png w/ biturn.

that chocobo is looking NICE! ,

thanks for the link to beta 7 (might want to add that to the first post guys ezer to find)

i can't wait to install it when i get home :), that is if i don't spend the rest of my night working on the file reconstruction project :)
btw the beta6 had a .bat installer (i can't run it w/ wine ) so i had to manually add the items to there respective locations , is that still possible with beta7?

@Eslava i once again have a default install,to work from.

also i will be hosting pics of each model, tex, etc.(to be linked to sheets)  if any one has these pics, or would like to help gather them  (png prefered). Please pm me as this will take a while to make the files.

I have created this thread to have a place to discuss the use of FF7 and different customizing tools with wine,
this can not only apply to linux, freebsd and solaris but mac os using darwine, and newer versions of windows (i.e vista) using wine for compatibility mode. Topic would be to include: Programs related to FF7 and it's moding and customizing On wine , what works, what needs to be installed to make it.

if you don't have wine and would like to use it you can get it from
Wine On Linux ,Freebsd or Solaris
Wine On Mac Os X
Wine On Windows

note: results are from mixed wine version some as old as wine 1.1 . if you notice a program needing updating please report it to me .

Final Fantasy 7 And Wine

does everything but make an lgp file, Use aali's lgp/unlgp instead
             Error:To many files

aali's lgp /unlgp:OK!
works very good if you compile it (i created an installer for this with both a win32 and linux versions. see here)

Can not get it to run after getting runtime needed (vb6run w/ winetricks)
Runtime Error '-2147417848 (80010108)': Automation Error
wine spits out errors fixme errors.
Causes a crash reporting errors in gdiplus and gdi32 (with gdiplus from winetricks)

Runs Major Gui Issues (.net 3.5 needed)
Biturn: OK!
Not sure if its needs anything special but it just ran when i got to testing it

Not Sure if it needs anything special but it just ran when i got to testing it.

can't run a .bat file... perhaps i am just unaware of how to do so w/ wine (try to run it from the wine CMD program might work )

Save Editors

Jenovia: OK!
works fine w/ wine might needs vc run time 6 installed first.

FF7charedit: OK!
Worked when i got to testing it

FF7saveedit "german save editor": OK, w/gfx glitches!
Worked when i got to testig it, had to minimize and restore window to fix some display issues.

Black Chocobo:OK!
Works just fine nothing special needed in wine (native versions for linux/mac also)

7th Heaven  - MOSTLY BROKEN
This program is by Iros and is fairly new (v 1.021 tested), its a simple mod manager that can download and manage mods in ff7 in a similar way that aali's driver does. using 7thHeaven to mod the game does not edit the orringal files but instead uses an injection method to intercept calls from FF7 to the lgp files and provide new resources. This is a really cool idea and may become the defacto install method for future mods in FF7 PC. it saddens me that its mostly broken atm (hopefully this will improve as the program becomes more stable and wine improves )

Requires: VC++ 2010 Runtimes and MSVCR100D.DLL and MSVCP100D.DLL to run.
        what works:
       the gui comes up
Settings are detected correctly (other then assuming the modpath of bootleg)
subscriptions can be updated but takes unNaturally long time to proform the update (around 5 min) download box does not autoclose (could be normal behavor for the earily version tested)

        what does not:
Unable to Download mods , attempting gets instant Download failed in notification section. Gui Is a bit mangled box titles are shifted up to high and other little things like that. The download box does not show any progress while updating subscriptions.

Did not test local mods or launching because i was unable to download them via the program and it will not launch ff7 without mods enabled (i suspect it will launch just fine if you did get mods installed)

Well this is all i have Tested for now, i will update when i get more info

Edit:Whoops seems like I've messed up some names because of my spanish version, files like schocobo sflevel and such the original english is without the S right? sorry now the file is not in alphabetical order... I will try to fix that, thanks for the one who pointed that out in the sheet.

no problem :), i  have also started a rough fill in of battle.lgp. i plan to get a good chunk of it filled in roughly hopefully by the end of the weekend. also noticed some extra .  here and there along w/ blank lines (fixing them as a parse through battle.lgp)
