Title: Final Fantasy VII Play as the Shinra Project.

I have started a project that aims at making the characters of the Shinra the main characters. If anyone has a complete Rufus version with all his files i would very much want that model. It's hard to get his extra .P-files on his character.

I have already made one unique character playable. He/she may not be new in the field but is new in battle!

Yes, i converted a field model into a battle model! And it wasn't the blocky field models but the better ones.

I would really appreciate it if i could get some Shinra characters that looks exactly like the enemies you face. Without lost files. I managed to make one with all his or hers files.

I am very happy to tell you all that the battle model is just perfect without bad animation and it's beautifully implemented into the game! It looks way better when in battle than in the field!

I am now making changes to my field model because there were some problems with it in the game. And i also had a problem with modifying younger versions of characters, as their young counterparts weren't changed.

I just need to finish all models of the character and then create a new Avatar for him/her. After that i will release the character here :).

I am also going to replace the enemies with old heroes so there won't be two versions of the same character running around.

I have some pictures to show you of my "soon to be released" character. The field model is 100% done as for replacing Aeriths normal model, and her dress model at Don Corneo's Mansion is also 100% complete. Aerith five and ten years old are left to replace after i am done with my battle model - which i had done but wanted to remake a little because i created a new better ass for the field model that i wanted to give the battle model also.

I have replaced Aerith with: SCARLET of the Shinra - KYAHAHA!

I thought at first that i would replace Tifa with Scarlet and vice versa so that she could beat Tifa in the buttercupslap-fight in Junon.. But she seemed more fit to replace Aerith as a character and i think Rufus will be sad when she dies if i manage to replace Cloud with him later!

Aerith Gainsborough original Battle model. I wanted to change Aerith into Scarlet of the Shinra, and this is what Scarlet's original field model looked like that i wanted to recreate for Aerith:

Scarlet original Model for her unplayable character in the GAME, i wanted to make Aerith look like this. Unfortunately Aerith didnt have the same bone-structure so it was impossible to get it exactly like this using Kimera. I had to do the best i could without as many bones to the skeleton (green lines).

Aerith converted into Scarlet of the Shinra third version (made 2015 the bygone week, had the wrong placements of bodyparts and didn't work as intended because of the bodyparts not FOLLOWING the skeleton, the green lines, i had to rework it. Also, the ass had strings attached to it in the wrong way and that made the model look ugly when in it's correct stance.. I had to remake that bodypart!).

In the third version of the model she was also too high up from the ground and it did cause graphical errors..

Messed up fourth version:

Fourth version: I did try to lower the third model to the ground before realizing i had to start all over to get it just right.. This version was never tried in GAME.

FINAL VERSION:

The fifth and final version f Scarlet in the field. I did remake her ass-part to make it look alot better. And this time i did make the model FOLLOW the skeleton (green lines). It is complete now, but i am still to finish her other models. Almost done with the battle model, and i am done with dress-Scarlet. After the battle model is finished i need to replace five year old Aerith and ten year old Aerith with Scarlet. And then ultimately create the Scarlet Avatar!

What's done:

1. Aerith Normal Field model coverted into Scarlet normal Field model.

2. Aerith Dress at Don Corneo's Mansion converted into Scarlet in Dress at Don Corneo's mansion.

What's almost done:

1. Aerith battle model replaced with Scarlet as a Battle model, i was done but decided i wanted the new ass for the battle-model as well.

What's left to do after that:

1. Converting Aerith five and ten years old into Scarlet five and ten years old.

2. Coverting Aerith with flowers into Scarlet with Flowers.

3. MAKING an avatar for Scarlet, as you don't want her to have Aerith's picture.

Because i loaded save games and Aeris/Aerith is the default name. You have to change the name when you meet her. If you load a save game for testing purpose then it will be Aeris/Aerith.

It can be now. Any tips on an upload site?

The battle model is not finished because i want to replace a part of it and correct some stuff. But the first version is fully working and i can upload it.

All the field models and avatars are also finished and ready for upload.

I don't know how to make an installer. You have to use unlgp.

Is there anyone who knows if it is possible to change the names of npc-characters?

Otherwise Aerith-Scarlet will still be named Scarlet.

Iv'e gotten into some trouble with the textures following the adding of Aerith as replacement for Scarlet. It seems the textures for Aerith as Scarlet overwrote the textures for Scarlet as Aerith.

I don't think you can replace a character with the same character. The textures get messed up?

Here's the problem:

Textures:

Scarlet 5 years old (new):
azce.tex
azda.tex

Scarlet 10 years old new:
azce.TEX
azda.TEX

They share textures.

Scarlet dress:
amde.tex
amdf.tex

Scarlet Normal:
amdd.tex
amde.tex
amdf.tex

They too share some textures.

The thing is that when i replace Scarlet with Aerith i need to rename the textures into amc-tex etc. And that results in the textures for Scarlet getting messed up.

I tried to change the texture-names into auha etc (Aeriths textures) but it didn't work.

The weird thing is that it did work to get Scarlets textures for Scarlet with flowers by using the names of Aerith with flowers.

Scarlet with flowers have textures:
CAID.tex
CAIE.tex
CAIF.tex.

And that was Aeriths original names.

But it didn't work the same with Scarlet's normal field model when i tried using the names auha, auhb and auhc.tex.

Anyone knows what the problem is?

I think iv'e got it. I need to change the texture-names of Scarlet dress and Scarlet normal into rvac, rvad and rvae.tex.

Its very weird.. I found an Aerith model for the field with textures rvac, rvad and rvae.tex. They are for the AUFF.hcr, the same hcr Scarlet normal uses.

But when loading Scarlet in Kimera it says "can't find amcd" etc.. Anyone know how to make it read rva-textures instead?

I have decided there will be two Scarlets because i can't get her textures to work otherwise.

Aerith is going to replace Scarlet as a villain, but her textures will be wrongly placed if i don't get any help on the matter.

I don't know how to make her textures work without overwriting Scarlets.

I think i did mess up somewhere.

Aerith has been replaced by Scarlet for all her models. But i did not replace the original Scarlet with the original Aerith. Rather, i replaced Scarlet with Aerith with flowers.

I don't know, maybe i should of had replaced her with the original Aerith model instead?

As i already have the texture files for Aerith w Flowers used by Scarlet w flowers.

I don't know, it's not important for my goal anyway to replace the original Scarlet. It's weird though that i can't use Aeriths texture-files for Scarlet when she has replaced Aeriths model.

If someone can fix the texture-problem i would very much want to know what was wrong. As it is now NPC Aerith shares textures with dress-Scarlet and Field-scarlet - and you can't have them all at the same time without the other side losing their faces..

I forgot to add this in the readme, but i modified the PRB-versions of the characters after installing the Tifa's Bootleg-mod.

I don't know if it works without it. It would look weird anyway if you have the blocky characters and this version of Scarlet! So i suggest that you install Tifa's Bootleg first.

Feel free to include my characters in Tifa's 7th Heaven mod if you want to.

I just want to say this if you have Tifa's Bootleg installed: Don't use the LGP-method for installing Scarlet's Avatar. Just drop the .png-file in your FF7/Mods/Bootleg/Menu folder and make sure to rename it with the same name as Aeriths picture - and click "ok" on overwriting the old file.

I only put the .tex-files in my rar-folder. Search for "Scarlet Avatars" on google to find the same Avatar that i used, and make it a .png-file by saving it as such. I used GIMP to make it HD-quality. And it's a good thing to keep the original Bootleg avatars and just paste the new avatar over the old one in GIMP. The picture must be placed like those pictures are for it to fit the selection screen in the best way possible. I recommend that you open up one of the old avatars in gimp and then overwrite the picture of Aerith with Scarlet's picture in GIMP.

I will release a .png avatar when my next battle model is released.

Alternatively you can use the program "Omega" to change my .tex Aerith files into bmp-files. And after that save them as .png.

Place this in your FF7/Mods/Bootleg/menu folder and save it as a .PNG-file if it isn't one by default. Name it earith_00. This is the easiest way to get a new avatar.

Edit 2018-07/24 - Scarlet Avatar Picture updated, background is now transparant.

Hello all, i just wanted to update this tread with some news:

Due to virus i had to reinstall windows for my "work"-pc and therefore i needed to reinstall FF7 with the whole Bootleg-mod. The game didn't start even tough the installation seemed to proceed as it should, and due to this fact i lost interest in the project for a while. But i am going to release the completed battle-model somtime in the near future.

Hello all! Unfortunately i think my base-game has been stolen by some people visiting me. I am really sad about it because i have had my copy of FF7 since 1997 and it was a gift. I shall search the whole apartment for it soon and leave no stone untouched so to say. This has delayed work on my mod..

New battle model of Scarlet of the Shinra, replacing Aeriths battle model in the game Final Fantasy VII for PC. I have modified the PRB-versions of the characters using Tifa's Bootleg Mod. Install Tifas Bootleg mod first.

Installation Instuctions:

You need a program called unlgp to be able to unrar lgp-archives (FF7- gamefiles), or to be able to repack them again.

Download UNLGP.

Learn how to use it through it's readme-file and then do the following to install my addons.

1. Back up your "char.lgp" found in your FF7/data/field folder. Then unpack it using UNLGP and rename that folder "char". You can unrar an lgp-archive by doubleclicking on the lgp-file after you have installed the program unlgp. Put all the field-model files in your new "char"-folder. These includes Scarlet 5 years old, Scarlet 10 years old, Scarlet with flowers, Scarlet finished field model, Scarlet in dress files and Evil Aerith who replaces Scarlet as an npc.
UPDATE: All versions of Scarlet are now compatible with Aeriths textures. You can play with Evil Aerith now without getting the textures messed up.  Just copy and paste all the files including the texture-files into your char-folder.
When you have decided who you want to add you should create a new lgp-file. You can do this easy by clicking on "swift" at the same time while you are right-clicking on the folder. Click on "create lgp" as it will be such an option. The file will then be created and you should wait until it finishes. Make sure the file is named char.lgp. Now, if you start your game you will have the field models.

2. The AVATAR. Go to your FF7 base folder in FF7/data/Menu and then doubleclick on your menu_us-lgp file. Back up your original lgp-file. Then add the new Avatar picture file, .png file-format. Do the same process as before and create your new menu_us.lgp-file. Wolla, now you have Scarlet as an avatar.

3. The battle model. Go to your FF7/data/battle folder. Repeat the same process as before by adding the battle model-files to the newly created battle-folder, repack the folder into an lgp-file and make sure it is named battle.lgp, make a backup of the original file as before before doing this. Start the game and Aerith has been replaced by Scarlet of the Shinra in battle.

If you do all these steps you will have a fully working Scarlet-mod. But i have still to make the battle-model better.

I have begun work on a new character. But it won't be finished soon as i am changing some of the animations for the model and it's some massive modding required to replace all the frames of just one of the model part animations. There are like 15 parts of a character model, and each body part has like between five and 44 frames, depending on what animation you are replacing. But i really had no choice because the character looks ugly otherwise.

I am replacing Barret Wallace next.

Update: I have just finished resizing the field models of Scarlet in dress, Scarlet with flowers & the normal field version. I have very recently learnt how to use the Kimera program better, and therefore managed to get the right proportions. Scarlet no longer looks fat compared to her NPC-model counterpart.

I am also halfway through the process of giving Scarlet her own victory pose animation.

New victory animation for Scarlet finished and working perfectly in the game! It was an animation at 44 frames.

Now i just need to replace Scarlets walking and running. 19 frames for running and 29 i think for walking. Then i release the final version of her.

Hi there Eq2Alyza, yes you can do that if you want even though this one ain't finished yet. But it has some releases already as you can see. You are also allowed to add it to your Seventh Heaven mod if you want. But i am soon to release the best version of Scarlet to date so it's better to wait with adding her to the catalog.

Btw, i have played both your mods. Tifas bootleg and Tifas seventh heaven. I really like the concept of the seventh heaven mod. Unfortunately when modding i am prefering the bootleg-mod, as the changes are permanent in that one. The catalog also get's problems of getting into contact with the site providing for updates. At least when i used it some year ago. But it's great that you can change models so freely and don't need to do the unlgp-work.

The walking animation is now finished and ready to be tested in the game. I was supposed to be all done now but i focused on other stuff earlier today.. The running animation still remains, and it's on 16 frames.

"Aerith Gainsborough to Scarlet of the Shinra overhaul mod, replacing 7 models in the game and changing 1, adding new running and walking animations and a new victory animation- the animations were changed manually! This is a mod that replaces one team member with another character- and it's more than just the models being changed here. This is the third version. In the future i hope to add more overhauls for other characters. Install Tifas Bootleg first for best immersion.

First of all, you need to have Final Fantasy VII installed as a full installation.

Create a new folder named "games" like this C:\Games and install FF7 in this folder with the result being C:\Games\ff7, as proplems can occur if it's installed in program files.

It doesn't matter what version you use - but i didn't use the steam version. And i would prefer to use the Ebay-version for installation, and then the ordinary 1998 version when playing the game if you own the discs.

After you have the full installation of Final Fantasy VII for PC installed, you then need to backup the data-folder to a secure location. When you have made the backup you are ready to download Tifa's Bootleg MOD.

It isn't necessary for my mod to work, but you wouldn't want chibi models interacting with my Scarlet-model now, would you? Also, Tifa's Bootleg offers alot of great changes like better music, better models for all the other characters in the game, new HD-quality backgrounds and much much more.

With Tifa's Bootleg up and running you are now ready to install my Scarlet-mod:

You need a program called unlgp to be able to unrar lgp-archives (FF7- gamefiles), or to be able to repack them again.

Download UNLGP.

Learn how to use it through it's readme-file and then do the following to install my addons.

1. Back up your "char.lgp" found in your FF7/data/field folder. Then unpack it using UNLGP and rename that folder "char". You can unrar an lgp-archive by doubleclicking on the lgp-file after you have installed the program unlgp. Put all the field-model files in your new "char"-folder. These includes Scarlet 5 years old, Scarlet 10 years old, Scarlet with flowers, Scarlet finished field model, Scarlet in dress files and Evil Aerith who replaces Scarlet as an npc. Just copy and paste all the files including the texture-files into your char-folder.
You should create a new lgp-file. You can do this easy by clicking on "swift" at the same time while you are right-clicking on the folder. Click on "create lgp" as it will be such an option. The file will then be created and you should wait until it finishes. Make sure the file is named char.lgp. Now, if you start your game you will have the field models.

2. The AVATAR. Go to your FF7 base folder in FF7/data/Menu and then doubleclick on your menu_us-lgp file. Back up your original lgp-file. Then add the new Avatar picture file, .png file-format. Do the same process as before and create your new menu_us.lgp-file. Wolla, now you have Scarlet as an avatar.

Alternative option: I just want to say this if you have Tifa's Bootleg installed, don't use the LGP-method for installing Scarlet's Avatar. Just drop the .png-file in your FF7/Mods/Bootleg/Menu folder- and click "ok" on overwriting the old file.

3. The battle model. Go to your FF7/data/battle folder. Repeat the same process as before by adding the battle model-files to the newly created battle-folder, repack the folder into an lgp-file and make sure it is named battle.lgp, make a backup of the original file as before before doing this. Start the game and Aerith has been replaced by Scarlet of the Shinra in battle.

4. For the animation files, remember to not add folders and only the files!

If you do all these steps you will have a fully working Scarlet-mod- This is the finished version V3.0 of my Scarlet MOD!

Use UNLGP to unrar your FF7 lgp-files, add the new content into the new folder (make sure to not add folders and only the files) and create your new lgp-file and name it char for field models, battle for battle models and menu for avatars.

Feel FREE to make the models better and do whatever you want with them. I would be happy though if you tried to have the original look if going to change it, and don't forget crediting me :P.

Version 3.0 changes:

1. New ass and new size of body for the Scarlet flower model, Scarlet in Dress model and the ordinary Scarlet field model. The models are now using the same ass-part as the battle-model- also, they do have the proper size of Scarlets body.

2. New walking and running animations for the Scarlet field model and the Scarlet in dress model.

3. New victory animation for Scarlet in battle!

Even though the animations doesn't seem like much, they took alot of time and effort to finish- as i used Kimera 97 and had to create each frame manually. The victory animation had like 44 frames which had to be multiplied for each bodypart (28 i think), and i had to add each frame manually for each of the 28 bodyparts. Also the running and walking animations had like 18 and 29 frames each.
Alot of work for a rather short victory animation alone.

This is a complete overhaul of the character of Aerith Gainsborough- as it replaces all of her models with Scarlet of the Shinra. It also changes the haircolor of Aerit's mom Ifalna to blonde- to better represent her being Scarlet's biological mom in the story now.

Hello all - if any of you in here wants me to finish this mod then i suggest helping me to un-rar IRO-archives as i am still using Bootleg to mod FF7 - i want the raw-material so that i can implement it and modify it to suit this mod.

There is an awesome mini-mod by Grimmy that let's people play as many of the characters i wanted for this mod (unfortunately he replaced Dyne with Tseng) - and if i could extract the actual files i could finish my sub-mod using the files of his mod which already have the animations in place.

So, any help in extracting IRO-archives would be helpful to be able to finish this as fast as possible.

If ya wanna extract an iro. Open 7th heaven. Click workshop and pack.unpack iros. From there its obvious.

Hm, the problem is i have not installed 7th Heaven - and the last time i tried doing that it would CTD immediately after Cloud jumps off the train.

I have Bootleg installed on one computer though.

Edit - Thanks, it would seem only Dark Nation was included as a field model. But that's no problem - i could make my own field model versions of all the characters.

The battle animations were the main problem - would have taken forever to do it my way.

With these battle-models i could possibly add these characters without needing to do all that manual work of adding animations frame by frame - like i did with my Scarlet model.

In any case, unfortunate that Grimmy switched out Dyne.. As i had planned to use Dyne instead of Barret - but his animations were troublesome to add.

I'd guess with Grimmy's method it would be easy but i have no clue how he did it. He used the files of the PSX-shinra mod. But i don't know how to work with the PSX-files :P.

Tseng will have to do even though i always thought Dyne were a major bad-ass.

Remade the Rufus in dress-model a little - added left hand that were missing in the Turks mod, the mod from which i got the material that i modified.

The hip needs to be turned 180• at y axis. You may also want make the hip-chest bone a bit smaller.

Why don't you try adding in Elena or maybe even Cisne to replace Tifa.

I'd try to keep cloud uain a sword and have Rufus use his gun still. Its just a case of renaming the animations so they are loaded in a swapped way.

The first release is ready of the Rufus Shinra update (i may try to improve on it later as the MC-model and possibly a few others may need work - as well as possibly swaping animations for weapons used by NPC:s as the guy above suggested.

But won't that screw up the commands?

I would very much want instructions on how Grimmy made the animations of the Shinra battle models work with the player commands. I already know of the PSX-mod and that he used command lines from there - but the details i have no clue about.

I would want that Jemnezmy villain as a teammember but the problem is those animations are not ready for the buttons. Which means when i click attack the character may do something else - that kind of problem i avoided by using the models from the minimod Grimmy made. The first one is now ready and it's Rufus of the Shinra.

Would also be cool if one could add enemy animations to let's say Tifa or something - like Jemnezmy attacks for Tifa.

Cisne? Elena is planned, but i don't know what is best? Use Grimmy's battleemodel with her own animations and victory pose - but the minus is the limit breaks get glitched.. Or i could do my own thing and the limit breaks will work - but she will move like Tifa. That would be like in the "Turks"-mod but better.

I would like the limits on one hand, but on the other it's cool with her own moves in other areas.

I will try to switch out animations etc but i have my suspicions it will cause the commands to go crazy.

My download contains all the files with Rufus Shinra or his "mother" - who is basically Clouds mother with new color on her hair.

I did include all the battle-models including the one of Rufus in battle from Grimmys minimod. I guess one would have to modify the ab-file somehow - and the commands were already in order in the psx-mod. But what program do one use to get the files from the PSX-version? Are those files named in the same manner? I have no clue as to how the PSX-stuff works.

I see - i never played Crisis Core or Dissidia/Dicidia duo 12 to the end. But i usually avoid all that extra stuff from Dirge of Cerberus (sucks), Crisis Core (a good game, but the story is not very exciting) and Advent Children (never liked the style change, as i kinda like the anime-style of the original).

I agree with Kaldarasha that Ifalna would be the better choice. However i think i have enough characters even though i may take different ones if i could understand how to edit and apply command-changes to the AB-file. As far as i understand the Shinra battlemodels Grimmy made out of the PSX-mod has different AB-files compared to how they were originally - as the guy who made the psx-mod had changed the order of how the ai will handle the animations for NPC-characters.

Basically this means one could use any NPC if one was able to open up the AB-file and add these changes to it - but it needs to be done to all the characters one wants to use i imagine. The problem is Notepad++ doesn't work as the file is too big. Any ideas as to how one could open and edit it would be great - then i will most likely replace Barret with Dyne.

I believe it's more complex as this is basically what i did to the char and battle-models. It's just Grimmy did something to the animation file of Rufus and the others - without that they would not use the right animation for various commands..

I think what you are suggesting me to do would just give me Rufus with Clouds battle-animations.

Fortunately Grimmy had made Rufus - but i would like to be able to add real animations myself for anyone.

Edit: Basically i just want to know how to open up the AB-file in order to edit it. The rest i have already done many times - but i want enemies with the enemy-animations. And it doesn't work to just swap them.. The order of animations is not correct and the animation-file needs to be edited.

But i don't know how Grimmy edited that file.

Yes, what Grimmy did was modify the **AB-file to make the game load the right enemy animations in the right order. If that file isn't modified they will be out of order.  The guy who created the PSX-mod had already done the groundwork - so one would just need to open up the file and add the same changes to it as made on the other characters. At least that is what i have understood.

I have no knowledge about hex-editing though but would it be easy to copy/paste the stuff already included in one ''AB-file to another?

All the enemy animations are the same i would guess. If i could like open up the Rufus **ab-file and copy/paste the coding from there to let's say Dyne's **AB-file? That may or may not give Dyne the proper commands when using his model with his animations also - or anyone else.

To correct the limit animations you need to make a kernel.bin like the one jeet had in his psx mod. Then all the limit animations will work properly. I couldn't include the kernel in my party swap mod because the kernel loads into memory only once when the game starts and then it cannot be swapped. Yes you have to hex edit the ab files(just copying and pasting won't work every ab file is unique), but that isn't how a new animation would be created. That is how you assign already existing animations to an action. So Jeet had to assign animations to actions that didn't always match because no animation existed.

After thinking about it if you will tell me which shinra characters you want to replace which hero characters I will make you a set in that order with a matching kernel.bin. I'll pretty much only have to rewrite elena's AB file and make the new kernel to fix the limit animations.

Aerith - Scarlet (Done - but i saw you managed to also use the NPC field model with all it's animations and bones intact? How did you manage that?)

Tifa - Elena

The rest of the characters you are using used by those you replaced them with - Palmer, Hojo, Reno and Rude.

Red XII - Dark Nation (Done).

Not sure about Tseng, i could possibly use both Dyne and Tseng in a submod and let people chose which ones to use.

Finally i wanted those Jemnezmy animations (sexy female villain) in order - possibly one could use that model for Jenova? In the PSX-mod it's already done in that way.

But how did you manage to make field models use all their bones etc? Is it a similar process? Thanks for your help as it will help me to finish a Shinra Mod. I may add Tseng and the Jemnezmy/Jenova as alternatives.

Tifa - Jemnezmy/Jenova.

By the way, would it be possible to also give Rufus-Cloud etc their animations? So that enemy NPC Cloud is using the sword and not a gun?

Sure. Just write here or PM me when it's done and i'll be sure to check in regularly. Gonna finish this mod whenever the battle-models are ready =). It will make the experience that much better with the real animations of the characters in battle.

Yes - but i think Jeet turned Aerith into Jemnezmy. I would prefer Tifa as otherwise Scarlet would be cut.

It seems very complex and time consuming making the field model compatible in that way in all the games fields. So yes you are right - i'll be doing the field models the same way i did with my Scarlet-character. Not sure about adding animations for all of them though as that is very time consuming adding them in frame by frame.

Hello, sorry for not being active for a day or so - i gladly switch out Rude for Hojo though. Palmer would probably work better as replacement for Cait Sith (fat and all that).

That i think would fit better as Hojo is a scientist and maybe a "rocket scientist". :P

I gladly have the animation files for the others though - especially that Jemnezmy unit.

But otherwise i think those will do =).

You are quite right if it was only about the Shinra/Turks - but i make some exceptions for bad-ass enemies like Sephiroth and Dyne.

Sephiroth shouldn't be a Shinra-character neither -  at least not in this timeline. Plus their stories are swaped with Clouds and team. I am not gonna create a new story and change all the text in the game. Therefore Dyne is basically Barret and Barret will be Dyne who hates the Shinra. The Shinra will basically be Avalance.

Truth be told i mostly want Dyne because i always wanted to play as Dyne. I think the Corel Prison part of the game is one of the best - and the music there always was good to my ears. Dyne's character was always sad but in a understandable way. Victim turned terrorist against the evil Shinra.

Yes, he won't fit in the company of the others based on his original story - but as Barret will be Dyne in the story i think it's fine. The mod is not about the story of these characters - it's about playing as them instead of Cloud etc.

The 1 thing that i know of that cannot be changed are limits. So in that case if Hojo is going to be in the party then make him vincent. His limit to transform suits Hojo perfectly

That is incorrect all the limits can be reassigned and changed. It is all controlled by the ab files and kernel(and the exe on pc). You could have up to 6 party members that each have a transform(7 if you eliminate the vincent character slot). In my Shinra mod Hojo does transform into heletic, and if you watch Jeets vids you will see Seph transform into safer and bizarro.

Yep, did awhile ago - great job!  ;D

Gonna add everything soon and test them out in game.

Then of course i will need to do the field-models etc for each character after that.

Also, i will upload each character as a separate overhaul package first - but in the end i plan on releasing a Shinra Mod at moddb.

Is it hard to create an installer when i have the mod ready on my end? I am using the Bootleg-configuration and it's too big for uploading. So i am just wondering how that would be done. Like an installer installing everything so people won't have to download individual files. It would be a complete mod just like that Turks-mod but better.

The best way is to make it as a 7thHeaven iro. They are easy to share and don't require any installation of any files other than the iro. Then players can easily use the mod or not by a simple click without needing to reinstall older files or mods.

I completely understand, thank you for getting back to me! I did want to ask you something, though.

I'm trying to learn more about modding this game, and I've been trying to replace Cloud with Rufus just like you did (your mod is great, I just want to get some practice with model-swapping).

I think I've done most things right, but whenever I get into a battle, Rufus' model starts glitching all over the place as if the game doesn't know where to put him. Do you know what I've done wrong, or how to fix it at all?

The battle-model of Rufus was already made compatible with the NPC-animations by Grimmy. So it's the NPC battlemodel but in use as a playable character - Grimmy knows more about how he did manage that, and it has more to do with coding than the actual model i believe.

With Scarlet i had to create a battle-model of Scarlet using her fieldmodel-parts - and doing this i also had to swap the Aerith model with these Scarlet field-model parts. What i can say is that if you are taking a field model and turning it into a battlemodel then it's a lot of small work required in order to get it right. If you on the other hand are using the Rufus battle-model and turning Clouds battle model into Rufus by swaping the parts of the model then i think it's just a matter of copy-pasting the model parts.

Of course by swaping it will still use the Cloud animations and any limit breaks might cause the model to split up into many different parts, because it isn't compatible with those limit break animations.

- The battle-model in my Rufus-mod is the AI NPC model so it already is compatible with NPC Rufus and it's animations - but Grimmy altered some text-files in order to make the model respond to certain commands. Otherwise there would be issues like Rufus doing the wrong move at the wrong command.

Edit: It is also possible to manually change animations of field and battlemodels using Kimera94. But, this is done manually and took me a few days just to manage the victory pose, walking and running animations of Scarlet - i did this frame by frame for many many hours. I believe a six sec animation is many hours of work. So unless you want to do this i believe Grimmy's way of using the NPC battlemodels is the best way to get the correct animations.

And i did update the Elena character overhaul mod today, as the battle model for Elena were glitched and would cause a game-lock whenever using Tifa's Limit Breaks - i re-added Grimmy's Elena from his Shinra mod, which is glitched when doing the limit breaks - but now it doesn't lock itself up.

The Elena he sent me with good looking moveset for limits would cause the game-lock after the move had been done. So the Elena mod is now updated to 1.1 - replacing the Elena he sent me last year with the Elena from his mod that doesn't lock the game during limit breaks.

"I've just finished my new FF7 character Dyne, replacing Barret Wallace in the field and in the battle - all models are swaped, nine in total.

Credits to Grimmy for making the NPC battle model compatible with the playable character commands last summer of 2017, and to Kaldarasha for the wonderful Barret model used for NPC Dyne in both the field and the battle - he created the base-model.

I've re-riged the Barret-model created by Kaldarasha for Young-Dyne, Boss-Dyne and Field-Dyne.

Then i've riged the Dyne original FF7 model for Young-Barret, Sailor-Barret, Field-Barret, Parachute-Barret andone of the two included battle models of Barret (one is based on the Barret model and i did rig it). Grimmy hex-edited the original NPC-model which is teh other one.

Then i've finished the Dyne-Avatar and added the limit-breaks and Kernels by Grimmy that he did also finish last summer."

Dyne is Barret's childhood bestfriend, who turned mad after he lost his wife and daughter due thanks to the evil Shinra organisation, not knowing that his daughter Marlene actually survived and were adopted by Barret as his daughter - in the original game he just wants to "destroy everything, including himself" - and he can do this due to his arm which carries a gun just like Barret's.

I always loved his story even before i got into strawberries myself, and always wanted to play as Dyne - i've replayed the Corel Prison many times both for the story and for the wonderful music playing. In any case, Dyne isn't really a Shinra character - as he hates "The Shinra" - but he is a boss-character with a great story and as such i thought he fit in the mod. Also, he is a better fit storywise than Hojo as he does have a gun-arm just like Barret.

I started with Dyne's battle model (the one based on Barret and not the NPC model) in march of 2016 - but i decided to finish the character during last saturday. I finished three models that evening, but then on sunday instead of finishing the character i were busy on other real-life matters such as being on a dinner with the AfS (Alternative for Sweden, election time in Sweden - i needed to get my own opinion on the party as i dislike a lot of things in my country) leadership. And as such, i got almost nothing done that day - instead i continued work on the character during the tuesday night and finished the character tuesday morning.

Also, i've released a new article over at MODDB.com about all my work regarding this project, as i did in-fact release an official demo of the Shinra Overhaul Mod (Play as the Shinra project) where you get to play as Scarlet, Rufus, Dark nation, Elena and Dyne while the NPC's are now Aerith, Cloud, Tifa and Barret.

- I did try to turn Dark Nation in battle into RED XIII but the proportions were off. I gave up the attempt.

It's 0.5 due to still lacking Yuffie/Reno, Cid/Palmer, Vincent/Sephiroth/Tseng and Caith Sith/Rude - with them it will be a 0.9.

1.0 will be when Avalanche and the Shinra has also been swaped, making Heidegger etc Avalanche, and Jessie, Biggs and Wedge main Shinra characters. I would probably use Wedge as President Shinra, Biggs as Reeve and for Jessie maybe Lucretia.
