Anyone know of any free software for linux that resembles mario paint composer?  Childish is fine; preferred, even.

Proprietary software vendors release Linux binaries all the time, especially in the server sector. Adobe used to release some of its products as Linux builds, too.

any basic midi software does what mario composer does, just find yourself some good soundfonts to go with it and you'll be good to go. Fruity loops would do what you want, but it's probably serious overkill at this point if your just getting into midi composing.
