Game ideas for a small apartment.
« on: 2011-08-06 19:43:47 »
So last night I got boerd and made my apartment in sketch-up. I was looking at it and thought it would make a pretty cool game level for something really small. Like a bug simulator or something. The question is... What? You guys have any ideas?

First person shooter, except the characters are really tiny (can stand on one key on that music keyboard there). In fact, make the keyboard play notes when you walk/jump/stand on keys.

I would hide in the above cabinets of the Entertainment Center and blow you away when you tried :P

Why do you need 3 trash cans?

The larger "trash cans" are actually totes. I put my clothes in there as I don't own a dresser.

Some kind of Tetris. One has to rearrange the furniture so that everything still fits in and is even still usable. This seems to be an experts-only game to me given that I am still wondering how you store your clothes in totes. ;)

And you do need a profound gift for folding clothes.   ;)

I was in the Navy...
I'm home now.. Here's a comparison shot of the model vs the real thing. I would of tied to match them better the I don't know how to set the FOV in Sketchup.  Also It seems my windows are not tall enough, I'll be fixing that quickly.

First with my back against my door looking into the kitchen.

Next is my back against the fridge looking towards the door.

This is a kitchen, dressing room and garage all in one (possibly a dining room and a hall as well...;)).

By the way: What a nice picture on the wall, reminds me of Dita von Teese...  :-D

What's up with the little area between your keyboard and the bathroom?

RTS with RPG elements.

You are a mutant c*ckroach queen, escaped from a biological research lab whose goal was to produce an organism which can survive on other planets and make them habitable for human life.  Your goal is to accomplish the mission objectives (breed n workers, gather n resources, drive off humans, survive fumigation, move queen to n location (maybe to a spaceship, so you can colonize other planets), move n soldiers to x location, whatever), sometimes within a time limit.

You lay eggs, which can hatch into different kinds of roaches.  Workers gather resources, tend the brood, and care for the queen and drones.  Soldiers kill things.  Scouts carry diseases to enemies (debuffs) and and retrieve/steal things.  If you get the wings advancements, these roaches can fly.  Larvae queens, for when your current queen dies (the larvae queens will remain larvae until the current queen dies or moves away from the colony for n clockticks).  You need more queens because every roach has a limited lifespan (unless you find the immortality advancement) and gradually become less effective and require more food to keep going (they get old), unless you find the eternal youth advancement, which will allow your roaches to keep their starting (minimal) food requirements as long as they live, barring injury.  If you run out of live queens and have no larvae (or if the only queen is out of range), then the option to lay a queen will appear on several of your workers the longer they live without a queen.  This queen will have all the resistances of the worker that lays it.

Each egg laid requires a certain amount of carbohydrate, fat, protein, water, and trace minerals.  You acquire these nutrients by eating things.  Dead things (including roaches, eggs), food dropped on the floor and behind couches or whatever, food hidden in cabinets and refridgerators that you must infiltrate to acquire them, sleeping people and animals (only from roaches grown from eggs laid after you acquire the blood suck advancement), plants, wood, plastic (requires iron stomach advancement).

Each advancement requires n nutrients to acquire, and it only applies to eggs laid after you acquire the advancement.

Enemies include people, animals, other roaches, and environmental hazards.  The first time you're exposed to each poison, it will kill all but a few of your roaches (the queen has better immunities, and it will only drain her health instead of outright kill her), the survivors being the ones who have a measure of resistance.

So yeah, an RTS/RPG where roaches fight ants on the floor of your apartment and then scatter and live of scraps when you turn the light on.

For some reason this game reminds me of Joe's Apartment.

This game would entertain me.
Maybe at the end you get found out by the lab, who sends you off to space to colonize another planet anyways.

Then you can make a sequal where humans try to infest your new planet but your roaches have grown to a giant size, and exterminate the humans instead.
