Yet another FF7 music project
« on: 2011-08-15 07:17:18 »
I wasn't happy with the ocremix style "put more reverb on it" so I started wasting part of my life working on a soundfont for game music with FF7 in mind.

While this is only part of what I've completed, it'll need a final spit and shine before I put them all for download so I'm dumping some here for feedback.

Naturally being a perfectionist on a budget, I can't say my work is of good quality, but hoping it can be improved enough.

edit: canceling until better instrument library

It seems like some of these sounds don't have a sharp enough attack, which can cause notes to almost fade into each other in an undesired way at times. Also, a few of them seemed to have noise in them, like they were recorded in poor conditions.

There were a few songs that I really liked though, particularly hen.ogg (Who am I), but most of what I heard seems like it ought to be crisper, and could stand a little wider stereo spread.

Would it be possible to get the actual samples used in FF7 for a soundfont? It seemed like this guy was able to find the FF7 instruments, so maybe someone could contact him about them:
