Finally! A Hard mod for FF9! Nice work Landon!!

This means that there are now ways to play hard versions of FF7, FF8, FF9, and FF10! :)

Has this been tested on PSP?

did you do all of this with a hex editor? or was there some FF9 tool released that went under my radar?

I haven't tested it on the PSP.

I did it all on a hex editor.

Did you do it manually with just a hex editor, or did you use some tool - perhaps spreadsheets, or vim - to speed up your hex editing?

Kick ass!
This game was way too whimpy. Even by ff standards.
Manual hex editing isn't as bad as it sounds when you get used to it.

I'm gonna try this today.

I was thinking of making an enemy editor. But as of now I haven't the slightest clue on any offsets and values.
Do you have some sort of documentation on offsets etc?

yeah, some sort of documentation what is what would be incredibly helpful
I've been looking to overhaul all the spells for a while ( and other stuff.. ) and this could be the first step towards actual editors

I'll just post my documentation over at ID.  As I'll be updating it as needed, it will save me some time.

I'll likely start more detailed documentation of the scene files once this patch is finished.

For future reference: when you're going to post unwieldy lists that make the page scroll forever, put them in code tags. It makes everything easier for everyone.

Has this been tested on PSP?

currently playing it there, about 8 hours into it and so far, no issues, runs just like the normal version  ;D

How limited are we with editing this if you just run it on a PSX emulator? my old PS died years ago and my PS2 went to the trash during the last apartment move.
So, can we technically bloat the ISO with data or is it like the FF7 PSX iso, where the whole thing comes rumbling down as soon as the file sizes don't match up with the original anymore.

I wouldn't recommend altering the size of the image.  Thankfully there's a lot of unused space already.  I just use that.

What are the exact problems with altering the size? I mean, if you used an original PS, sure, that'd be horrific, but shouldn't an emulator handle the ISO regardless of size?

another question, how far do you plan to overhaul the game? I understand there are strict limits as to what you can do with hex editing but I'm curious nonetheless
