This is for the FAQ section!

First off, download the Final Fantasy VII 1.02 patch with the TNT and Riva fixes (available from Eidos's web site, File Planet, off the Platinum version CD, and various other places).  I believe one address to this would be:
http://ftp.eidos.com/pub/patches/final_fantasy7/riva_TNT.exe
...but I didn't download it to make sure it's the right patch.

Second, find the topic "Chocobo Races working in Windows XP!" in the FAQ forum and scroll to the end to get the most recent Chocobo Races patch.  This will fix the XP/Chocobo Race crash problem.

The only other thing I can think of is to mess with soundfonts, some of which are listed in the "Useful Links" topic in this forum.

Good luck!

I'm playing FF7 on my laptop for a while and I have this one problem where sometimes after a battle and after I get my experience the screen often freezes at a black scene. It often happens when my characters ,material levels up. I download the chocobo patch and the FF7 xp patch but it still have this problem. I'm currently in Cosmo Canyon and until I figure out this problem I won't be able to move on. Please someone tell me what's wrong A.S.A.P.  :weep:

I have discovered a way to get most anyone (by most anyone, I mean everyone but me)'s system to work through one of three options.
Contact Eidos for better and more accurate info, if none of these work for you like they don't for me, I will post here once I discover a remedy.

First -- Switch to software rendering mode, perhaps the lowest resolution. (I have no idea how this could help, but try it first)

Second -- Alter your hardware (video) acceleration to a lower setting.  Eidos recommends 1/2 or 0, but I say just stick it at 0. (No hurt in trying)  This is accomplished via display and settings\(advanced or troubleshooting, you'll figure it out).

Third -- Copy the movies on the CD to your HD.  They will copy and paste, its not too difficult.  Then modify your path settings for your movie access to your new HD location.  (Open regedit -- movies -- modify -- set a different path)

None of these worked for me, which is the primary reason why I'm at this site, hopefully Qhimm will be able to help if no one else can.

Well... That deals more with the uber-simple bugs. I have a more complex problem, that has yet to be fixed on either my side, or the program's side.

I'm another one of those who hasn't been able to make it work with those three options.  Or, for that matter, any combination of those three items.  I'm working on trying to fix a few of the problems as well.

EDIT: My problem is the classic Cosmo Canyon bug.  Such a pain.  Even tried waiting for 10 minutes watching Aeris blink and listening to the music.

....it's a window's codec problem....easiest thing to do is play through in 640x480 Quarter Screen mode.

This link will probably be deleted with time......

It'd be nice to have the rest of your computer specs
(CPU speed, vid card, RAM, etc)

Also, have you tried running the game with Software Rendering selected?

Ironically you just went and revived a 5 month old topic; I just read another one of your posts which is also reviving a dead topic. Welcome to the boards, but stick to the rules.

Shuddap, boy, its not like you've never revived a dead post.  I've seen you revive several times, and thats why you are going to get a warning (and maybe a ban) for this.

I still can't get that glitch to be fixed, so if possible, can someone add me to msn at [email protected]   so they can play through that video for me. It would be very appreciated!
