On hold because seems Tonberry won't work with RaW at moment [it stops other DLLs from being loaded]- but testing shows RaW loads DLLs fine when that mod isn't in root - so Tonberry is messing something up. It's not RaW to blame.  I am going to try and get a workaround for it - but it may need Tonberry editing instead.

In case it is of any help: There don't seem to be any conflicts between Tonberry and the RaW lite version you posted few days ago. The music plays with the old oggs being moved to the intended new location and renaming them to have 3 digits instead of 2 - with Tonberry being active at the same time.

But it won't load hard.dll or publish.dll when new raw is used with Tonberry - and i'm of the opinion it's because those dlls are badly coded.

Looks to me like they aren't coded like normal dlls...  they are also dependent on visual runtime and that's where the failure is occurring.  It's not an issue on my side.

Ah, so the issue is these two specifically. Haven't used these before, so no wonder there were no problems here.

Well, keep looking forward to the full release then. So nice to have the concert music playing in Shumi Village now (wasn't able to figure out how to fix this in field.fs), along with all the other improvements. Great work.

The issue is that d3d9.dll from tonberry uses msvcr100.dll - and so does hard.dll and publish.dll.  Some sort of conflict.  By making hard and publish load the same file with a  different name, the CRT error goes away.  That's a very crap work around though.

Setting hard.dll and publish.dll to use executable mode and NOT dll mode in the header seems to actually work.

nope.  It's up to the author to fix this incompatibility.  It's time to release RaW.

Put this file in RaW/GLOBAL/Hext or RaW/CUSTOM/Test1/Hext. This saves you Step 3-9 from the Setup Instructions. Already tested this myself and it works. Just make sure that RaW is in the same folder where the exe file resides.

For this, you either have to wait for RaW W07 full release or move the old W06 oggs from the data folder to RaW/GLOBAL/Music, and rename them to have 3 digits instead of 2 (05 -> 005, 17 -> 017 etc). Of course, you can also just go with W06 and follow all 9 steps from the Setup Instructions (see mod page).

Keep in mind that RaW W07 lite is rather meant for testing purposes than end-usage. There is no PS1 music included.

Moving and renaming files won't work universally... so best not to do it at all.  The installer may be out tonight if I'm happy with it.  It's literally the odd tweak away.

Also, Lite is meant for end usage - but for modders to ship.  Or users who don't want the music mod.

This is a temporary download and installer. It *should* be every bit as the one I'll release tomorrow.  But you never know if any bugs have crept in.  So get testing :)

I'm redownloading FF8 on Steam so i could test it :)

The changelog says it plays the Shumi Village music correctly, but does that mean it can even play "wrong" combinations of the FH concert music now?

Sorry if i ask this, but i only chose a wrong music once, and it was 19 years ago... on PSX... and couldn't even get to the end of the quest :P

@C  It won't play incorrect combos.  It will play nothing if you didn't get Irish Jig or EoM.

@Y  There is no fault condition there [my logging system is intricate - believe me].  It's changed everything.  So unless the change required a delay (unlikely), there should be no issue.

Unless PS1 buttons used HextEdit... in which case, mem addresses need to be used.

ps: in the Help file you wrote this:

"2. Music can play where it originally didn't (so far I have only noticed this at the Fisherman's Horizon concert, where the victory fanfare will play after an instrument is selected."

The victory fanfare plays after selecting the last instrument, at least on PSX, as seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rucng8dMmJw (45:14)
