First time modding, several issues at hand.

I'll try to go in chronological order, and for context I did manage to run the game in the end and most of the mods I set up actually worked! But I did get some issues along the way and would like to iron them out before I set off on my adventure~

The first issue would be that the 7th heaven launcher doesn't seem to want to update?
It gives me this error when I try:

Well actually the first issue I noticed was the lack of sound while testing my configuration, but I ignored it... until I launched the game lol, and when I launched the game I got this;


in config it says "could not open midi device" ? maybe the sound has something to do with that

edit idk why the images seem broken, if you right click and view image it should show them though.

I believe that's where the error is located, the rest is just me playing afterwards

Rerun the converter, choose 'overwrite' when asked.  This time through, pay extra attention to the step where it automatically runs FF7_Config, and tells you to select and test both your sound and MIDI configurations. Once that's done, in the 7H configuration, disable post-processing.  It works for some people, but breaks horribly for others.

Edit:  Also, if for some reason you have to run FF7_Config again, always do so through the conversion tool.  It sets a handful of registry entries to make sure everything links up properly.

I overwrote it last night as I was re-reading the FAQ and managed to get the sound to work, I did as you said and now the post-processing error stopped! so I appreciate that. The only issue left is the 7h launcher won't auto updated, and the new problem at hand; battle textures won't load! even when I place em directly under enemy models.

There is no newer version right now. That update is the error, not the lack of update.

Reading through your mods and load order again, I noticed that you have what appear to be multiple mods affecting the same target (e.g. two variations of dynamic Cloud weapons), while others would be in the wrong load order (e.g. Cid dynamic weapons should probably be #2). Try going through the list and rearranging them, using the tutorial as a guide to where particular "types" of mods should be loaded... that is, all variants of dynamic weapons first, followed by battle models, battle textures, field models, field textures, gameplay, movies/music/menus, and finally world stuff.  If multiple mods affect the same target, first one loaded wins.
