Ultima weapon
« on: 2010-03-04 17:33:36 »

Could anyone explain to me how the recoloring of the ultima weapon works? as how cloud's health goes lower, the blade becomes blue.
I imagine the vertex colors are based on % of clouds hp, but I was wondering if this could somehow be applied to textures in some way? I doubt it, but i figure its worth asking.

It should more be like a blue shadow applied on the weapon, according to me, like the black shadows applied on 3D items. I don't remember reading someone found animated textures, only shaders can look like that, even in recent games.

Slap me if I'm wrong :p

Ask slayersnext.  He remade the Ultima Weapon and it changes color depending on Cloud's health

Well it looks like it's just a color variable on the model and the game produces a value for what it should be depending on x, y, and z.  So if you modeled an ultima weapon which looked just like the original in 3ds (except of higher quality of course) and had the same features, I assume it would also change colors accordingly.

Also, could someone link slayersnext ultima if he released it?
