This is a good time to bring up beat.

Some users here crossover with the SNES rom hacking scene and will be familiar with the tool.
It's known for rom patching, but it can be used on any binary file to make patches.

I'd really like to make beat patches for some of the other modifications, which would be much more reliable to apply than what many of the installers are doing and it would even work in linux.

satsuki: Can you confirm that your change is in this patch (~38 bytes)?

Just about all the mods on this site are for the English version only. You could try renaming all the files for your language to the English file names, but I doubt that's going to actually work.

For some reason I can't download any of the updates. Every time I try with any of them it just times out or says the Web page is unavailable. Tried with multiple browsers at different times. Same thing happen with 0.8.1, 0.8.0, etc.

Alright, here's the thing. I've done 4 complete re-installs and only on the 2nd to last did my window size actually increase, without changing settings, but the coloring and textures were messed up. Suffice to say, I reinstalled again and now it the normal minuscule window in the middle of a black background which is perpetually fullscreen. It seems as though the game is completely ignoring both the config and the driver settings for resolution. It's becoming excruciatingly frustrating. I just want the game to be bigger, that's all... any ideas?

First I used Tom's Installer for installing FF7 in Windows 10.
And I got Aali's Graphic driver work in Windows 10 64bit, but needed old ff7config.exe from v0.7.11b to make Aali's driver effective.

Is there any way to get this working the the JP international version?

I recently purchased the download version and can't seem to get this to work by itself. I can use bootloader that comes with bootleg, and it will run an English version (JP versions comes with a number of different languages), so I'm guessing it's not a technical limitation. However, I'd really like to get this running with the JP version.

Any help would be appreciated.

This a bit old but I've had experience with this as well so thought I'd offer some input. Basically the International version works the same way as the Steam version. I honestly have no idea how the JP files work though. I've tried everything I could think of to get them to work with the converted English game, but none of the text works correctly, and the conversion tools need to be updated to actually support the JP files. Instead what I did was just mod the .lgp's to update all the models, and replace the audio files with the Anxious Heart files. In the end the only thing you cant really install are background and effect png textures that go in the Mod folder, or anything that relies on 7H to work. The game will be noticeably different with more jagged backgrounds, but it's a minor trade off to play the game in Japanese.

On a site note, do not alter the JP Kernel or Flevel. I have no idea why, but they seem to be formatted differently or something, and although Wallmarket and Makou Reactor or supposed to be able to support Japanese it wont work correctly. The original JP files wont work at all anymore, even with the most minor change. You also cant replace the text with either tool, once you save the files the perfect Japanese (that will paste in correctly) will no longer display properly in a jumbled mess of jibberish.

Hey guys I need some help.  I've just installed Aali's driver for FFVIII along with all of the HD mods and GeDoSaTo and Microsoft Visual C++.  When I try to run the game after installing Aali's driver, I am met with the following error:

Runtime error
FF8_EN.exe
r6030

Does anyone have any idea?  Or maybe a place to look? 

I've tried to re-install both the game and Visual C++ with no luck : (

You need the steam version to use the HD mods. Tonberry is a DirectX hack this driver use OpenGL.

Then you don't need this driver.
