Please use FF7_SYW_Unified installer unless you want to add other mods; if you want to add more mods then use 7th Heaven 2.4+ 7z archives (no support from me).
The versions number might be different between FF7_SYW_Unified installer and iros files, but the textures are the same, just use the latest version for both.

What's SYW?
The SYW mod represents the most accurate modern take on the PC version of Final Fantasy VII helped by deep learning techniques (such as ESRGAN). The package includes cleaner, more detailed and higher resolution background arts, battlefields, worldmap, magic effects, animations, minigames, menus and videos. All upscaled with AI or done in HD from scratch.


The main goal of the SYW mod is to get as much as details as possible without having an oversharp and overclean effect; also to keep the rendering as natural as possible and constant in quality across the whole game.​




Requirements
You'll need an original copy of FF7 (it will be asked while installing FF7_SYW_Unified), steam version, 1998 cd, or psx cd (maybe windows game store version too but i don't own one so i can't test)



Features of FF7_SYW_Unified

This Unified version has the following improvement compared to version 5.xx:



Install FF7_SYW_Unified on PC


Install FF7_SYW_Unified on Steam Deck
It is not enough to simply add the installer to non-Steam games. This is because the installer requires the .NET Framework to function correctly.

Here's how to proceed to get the pack to work:
(Note: The procedure described is done with the latest version of SteamOS.)

Install FF7 on Steam.
Since the installer can't view the .local directory, create a symbolic link to the folder containing the FF7 executable in one of the folders in your Home directory:

Install Lutris (available in the Discover store):

Once the game is installed, right-click on your game in Lutris and click Configure:

That's it, you just need to return to Gaming Mode.
You can also uninstall the previously installed FF7 game on Steam, as it will no longer be of any use.
If you use oled version of steam deck, setup the rendering engine to vulkan (in 'driver and patchs') to avoid colors issues

Amazing timing. Haven't used this mod in years, I went looking for V5.61 and it eventually directed me here.

PS. the files for the V5.61 patch don't work on this forum, where I was looking: https://forum.tsunamods.com

Are there any specific instructions to get it working on the Deck? I get an error as soon as I try to launch (missing dotnet 4.70, or something). I tried installing that version of dotnet and Proton Experimental as well. 5.6 used to work perfectly.

That'd be much appreciated, thank you. I also tried installing on PC first, then copying files over, but the same error. I will try a few more things today.

Edit: Trying it again today - many of the options under 'driver and patches' are empty when choosing things on the Deck. You click the drop down and there are no options. Graphics, audio and gameplay worked fine. No matter what, when I launch it, I can't get past 'Loading Application of: Generate FFNx configuration'. Left it there for 30 mins and it seems stuck.

-Fixed a bug that made the snowboard trees invisible, but only at the Gold Saucer.
-Fixed a bug with certain textures that weren't loading for the game in German.
-Optimized textures for the mini-games Condor (English, German, and Spanish) and Chocobo (German and Spanish), know looks great.

Apologies if this issue has been covered, but I’m having trouble installing 1.01.

I had 5.65, and it worked beautifully!  Now, when I try to install the newest version gives me the following error message:

“This folder isn’t and FF7_SYW_Unified’s Folder”

I’ve tried uninstalling/reinstalling my Steam FF7 copy, and I’ve uninstalled the prior mod.  Also, I’ve tried choosing different folders for the mod’s installation.  I’m sure it’s something that’s easy to fix, but I’m stumped.

-Fixed 30 fps battle, wasn't interpolated so too fast animations.
-Fixed Jessy show double eyes texture with Nino models.
-Added german and spanish languages for Aavock HD menu, now the localised text are all HD/Upscaled.


Only part missing before not beta release :
-Get re-translated german ending2 (waiting for translator ^^)
-Add a preset selection in the main launcher

The only thing I noticed is a slight input delay when switching on V-Sync. Is this "normal" behaviour or can something be done about it?

Edit: Just noticed another little detail: The speedhack is activated via controller with L3 + L2/R2 (Playstation). However, the L2/R2 buttons are also used for zooming in fights. This means that you always zoom in during battle when you switch on the speedhack. Not really a big deal, but is there a solution/workaround?

It's a totaly different mod, that's why it's not the same thread nor post (backoup your save before uninstalling ^^)

I'm trying to install this mod on Steam Deck. I installed the Unified beta and Unified update. When I launch Unified, it says it's "1.01" and not "1.02". Upon launching I get an "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application" with "Microsoft.NET" at the top of the window.

When I hit "Continue" the app launches normally. When I hit "Play FF7 SYW" I get another error window saying "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application." This happens during "Loading: Application of : Generate FFNx configuration". Appreciate any advice to get this running correctly!

That's exactly what I reported above.

Also tried the 7th heaven route, but that would fraught with even more errors. At this point I'd pay someone $20 for a working solution on the Deck, I've wasted so much time ;D

In case it helps, I THINK this is how I originally installed 7th Heaven and the Tsunamods on my original Steam Deck.

Maybe if the Bottles and Flatseal steps are followed, followed by the Unified mod install, that would work?

Basically, since getting a Steam Deck OLED, I have to reinstall the mod, but clearly a lot has changed since I did this installation back in May!

When I attempt to do the step with Winetricks on lutris it says prefix architecture cant be detected with no prefix path... Im new to all this what do i need to do to fix this

I ran into that as well

You can fix that by picking a folder for it to be installed to

I got all the way to the end and it's still full of errors + some options in the menu are still blank + it still hangs on FFNx when launching (left it for over an hour, it never launched)

In fact, it seems to give more errors via this method of installation that it does if installed via the 'Add to Steam' method

This is working well on the Steam Deck OLED following the directions. You can't access Winetricks per the instructions without first defining a path for the installation. It may be that whoever developed the steps was using an older version of Lutris that automatically chooses a path?

The one "problem" on the OLED Steam Deck is that the package enables HDR which doesn't work on the Steam Deck right now. The Steam Deck doesn't offer a way to turn off HDR in Game Mode. This means the colors are completely blown out in Game Mode. HDR isn't supported in Desktop Mode on the Steam Deck so the modified game looks and plays wonderfully in Desktop Mode. The other problem in Game Mode on Steam Deck is that the configurator doesn't scale correctly and is off the screen on the right side cutting off the text. In Desktop Mode it's perfect and doesn't even take up the whole screen meaning all the text looks perfect.

It would be great if there was a way to disable HDR support in the configurator. I assume at some point Valve will add a way to turn HDR on and off for a given game in Game Scope but for now this patch looks very wrong in that mode. It's kind of like looking at a film negative instead of the photo.

i can't test the Steam Desk myself as i don't own one.
if you want to do a full 'how to' i can update the instruction with it.
i'll add an option to turn off HDR in next update and i'll update the steam's deck profile to disable hdr by default.

as for hdr & squaling, if it's solved by the desktop mode, a good way to solve all that stuff would be to shortcut a script witch sitch to desktop, launch the game, then when you quit the game, switch back to game mode again, so the whole pack would work as intended ^^

yes steam must be running to geat achievement, on pc it's working like that, on Deck not sure

Is that happening on Steam Deck? Gaming Mode or Desktop Mode? I imagine Steam is already running and you enabled achievements in the mod selector?

Can confirm that the Steam achievements feature doesn't work on the Steam Deck in Desktop or Game mode. I never mentioned it because I don't think it's important and OP can't do anything about it anyway without a Steam Deck.

No achievement support for Steam Deck is a dealbreaker for me. Should I opt for the old 7th Heaven mod install then? Or I guess if I'm using the Steam Deck at home, I just stream the game from Desktop to Steam Deck.

It seems the reason Steam achievements aren't working on the Deck is because applications running in Wine aren't aware of the whole Linux environment and thus doesn't see the Linux version of Steam. I figured out a solution by installing the Windows version of Steam to my wine prefix and using that to launch the game as a non steam game. Through that I was able to get the game to recognize Steam and run. It's not an elegant solution, but if you want achievements, here's some instructions on how I did it.

I first configured my wine prefix to say it is Windows 10. This is necessary because wine prefixes are set to Windows 7 by default and Steam can't run past 30 days in a Windows 7 or 8 environment.
To do this select your game in Lutris, click the wine glass at the bottom, and select Wine configuration. At the bottom of the window that opens, change the bottom drop menu to Windows 10, click apply, and close the window.

I next installed Steam by opening up winetricks again and selecting "install an application." In the new window, scroll down to steam, select it's box and hit OK.
Something will pop up in the background a few times talking about 32-bit 64-bit prefix compatibility, those can be ignored. You can close the windows related to winetricks now.

Now add Steam to Lutris like you did with SYW with the + in the top left. Make sure you have the wine runner selected and you set the wine prefix.
When adding your Steam Executable your path will look something like this "/home/deck/<path to prefix>/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steam.exe" and then save this config.

I then just launch steam through Lutris and login. Now for me, some steam menus bug out but it's still usable. I go to the Games menu at the top left of steam and add a non-Steam game. Browse and select "/", "home", "deck", all the way up to where FF7.exe is located.

The final step is to add a Steam shortcut from Lutris into Steam for controller support in the desktop and to play FF7 from Gaming Mode.

Hopefully I didn't miss anything and this helps!   :mrgreen:

I've done trainer (for the french version) in the past but:
-it's exe lang dependent so all the work need to be done 4 times
-it's often reported as virus
-black chocobo can edit savegame so the needs for a trainer is almost unrelevant

Hello,

I just installed the main file FF7_SYW_Unified 1.00beta first then installed .V1.02 Update.  It shows the version as 1.01 now.  I think I needed the 1.01 update installed first then 1.02.  I can't find 1.01beta or update anywhere though.  Where would I look?

I was also curious if there is any difference between using this or loading your mods in 7th Heaven?  There are a couple mods I would like to use but I was curious if you have anything specific to only your pack?

As you're the only one with this error it's probably a miss configuration in the steam deck installation.

-Updated some german and minigames textures with jtd's help.
-Updated NT mod version 2.0.997.
-Added preset selection in launcher.
-Added a gameplay battle mod test foir easy test of any battle form the game.
-Added L@zaro fix for nino fields model.
-Added m_endo and trap fields upscale for future use with shinra archeoloy mod.
-Done jenova_e fmv from an unsubed version to use more visible/quality subs.
-Fixed opening fmv sound with cosmo memory.
-Fixed a bug with some computers where the validation folder can't be detected.
-Done from scratch again the audio file for opening and ending fmv (from a proper psx capture).


It's a full,  not beta version (an update would have been to heavy), if you installed the beta you must un-install it before installing this 1.03 version (while uninstalling it's make a saves backup folder on your desktop but you can backup your save manualy if you want, they're gameplay mod based, for exemple vanilla game save are located in ..\Mods\Gameplay\00-Vanilla\save)

All iros have been updated to 1.03 unified with lastest texture, lastests FMV and language selection for localised texts (minigame, movies subs...)

Is there any update on the HDR-disablement for Steam Deck OLED?

For folks that run into this in the future, launching from Lutris + Desktop mode is a workaround, but it will require holding the Start button to swap the Deck from Mouse+Keyboard emulation into Controller emulation, so you can actually control the game.

I took advantage of the winter Steam sales to get a digital copy of the game. Still, I was also pondering buying the Japanese International version and trying to apply the whole package of mods to it as well. Yes, I have a certain degree of proficiency in Japanese and I'd like to play the game in its original script.

Surfing on the Japanese Google, all I found were a couple of blog articles explaining a quite long procedure to ready the game, substituting the original files with the mod files one by one.

long story short ATM japanese version is not modable with FFNx so you'll loose 95% of the modding by modding it

When i redone from scratch the FMV for the unified version i've done lots of tests about it and :
-with the new 30fps version, interpolation is almost perfect, if you don't use frame by frame look, it's smooth and clean so no need for a 15 fps version anymore
-using 60fps version, interpolation show as much artifact as the version 6 and also show a soap opera effect (was already the case with v6) witch is not desirable to maintain game damatic effect.
-even on my 120" projector, there's no rendering benefits to use 60 fps instead of 30 fps

So as long as (at least) 60 fps interpolation quality don't match 30 fps interpolation quality, i don't plan to release a 60 fps version again

I updated FMV iro's, i used a bad camdata in it so i caused probelem of synch with fmv witch have 3d models overlayed.

hey! loving this modpack for a runthrough before Rebirth but im running into a couple issues and im not sure where to go to find fixes or if there is any.

First. a big one is Bugenhagen is just invisible in my game, using Chaos models and 60 fps, tried using different configs with 30fps and such and hes still missing in Cosmo Canyon.

Second. For some reason every text inside of the Overworld is in Spanish but im playing in English, so ill save in the World Map and itll be in Spanish for the location, or every tip like Chocobo/Buggy is in full Spanish

and a minor little visual bug ive been getting is some Npc's heads flicker and it seems like some of them are missing animations like Red 13, but i guess this must be because of the 60fps patch so i can live with it.

any clarification or help would be appreciated, these arent gamebreaking but was just wondering if theres anything on my end that could maybe fix some of these with some file editing or 7th Heaven maybe

-flicter head are a bug with some chaos model for a long time, as far a i'm aware of it it's not fixable ATM
-about overword witch don't apply lang, i just checked an found the bug, will be solved in 1.04

I figured out the Bugenhagen issue! I think i sequence broke in the save point before the Observatory by messing with my Party and adding characters through PHS, for some reason causing him to dissapear, very strange haha.

Hi,

Just downloaded and got everything working except for my xbox360 controller, can only get numpad to control anything. Ive ensured analogue controller is ticked in settings but no luck. any advice would be great :D

Is there a way to be able to clean the excess files safely?
I tried renaming the mods folder, only to find out it saves the game to:
"*\FF7_SYW_Unified\Mods\Gameplay\00-Vanilla\save\"

So now am not sure if the other files are safe to remove or if I need all 30 GB.


nvm Satsuki answered on discord that all of them are definitely needed and that most of the file size is the FMV and fields

One issue I'm having on PC.

So I have my desktop connected to a 4KTV. The recommended text size scale on Windows with this setup is 300%. However, the SYW mod config window ends up being too big and I'm unable to resize the window to see all the options and the launch game button. Setting the text scaling to 200 - 250% can make the window more viewable, but I would prefer to keep the scaling at 300%. More of a nice-to-have, but it would be great if the mod config window could be manually resized and auto-scaled with the resize so the launch game button isn't obscured by certain PC resolutions.

Hi, I've been having an issue where the HD fonts and icons setting on the UI mod is causing overlapping text boxes to display incorrectly, as shown below. This issue also occurred with V5 of the mod. I'm playing on PC using the Steam version with 7th Heaven. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

300% for a 4k resolution is overkill, 200% is a good value.
My pack's UI is arround 1000x650 px (with menu bar), so can be fully visible even on a 1024x768 screen resolution at 100%.
It's its not visible on a 3840x2160 resolution display ... well the scale size you use is just way too big

Thanks, it has been working perfectly for 4hrs so far.

Also, 7th Heaven (7thdeck (https://github.com/dotaxis/7thDeck)) launches the Steam version, so achievements are intact. For anyone else who is having issues, I highly recommend this route.

Noted, satsuki. I'll make sure to use smaller scaling on Windows when using the 4KTV.

The mod has been working great on Windows. I just left Midgar and I've come across a few issues:

1. On the World Map, the text is in French despite playing the game in English.
2. In the menu, the location name is in French despite playing the game in English.
3. During the motorcycle FMV, I didn't really hear any sound effects, mostly just the music.

-Updated oled SteamDeck's profile.
-Fixed the condor minigame background (revert back to 1.02 version).

IROS :

I've tried the new SteamDeck OLED preset, but the Vulkan renderer introduces some really bizarre transparency into UI elements and 3d models.  Booting from desktop mode will d3d11 is still the best experience.

Version 1.04 is working perfectly so far using only the FF7_SYW_Unified launcher, no 7th Heaven at all (I'm only at the first visit to Junon in the game though).

The fort condor battles minigame has a spelling error. After you destroy an enemy, a message displays on the screen that 'the enemy was destroyed' but the spelling of 'destroyed' is incorrect and is being spelled as 'destryed' missing the 'o'. Maybe this is the wrong topic to post this comment in and if so, may someone direct me to where I should address this? It's not anything critical but if time and effort were put in to upscale the minigame, it would be nice to have correct spelling.

I'm using the 4x3 aspect ratio in full-screen mode. Aside from battles and a few other scenarios, the screen is usually cropped in the middle with slim black bars at the top and bottom and of course the black bars on the sides. I understand the bars on the sides and why they're there, but is there a 7th Heaven mod or some other "trick" that anyone is aware of which can "fill" the screen so that there are no black bars on the top and bottom? I am aware of 'reshade' but I don't want to have to keep toggling the setting on and off if the screen is sometimes cut off.

Hello everyone, I would like to inform you that there is already an excellent complete Italian translation that has been released by Caledor right here on this forum.

Being based on Reunion and in general on the Japanese source, this translation in my opinion is the best one around among the Italian ones.

According to the credits, there should have been some collaboration with Satsuki in the past to obtain permission to include some textures from SYWV5 for consistency.

If needed, you can get in touch with Caledor. This is the Italian translation thread with all the information.

first of all thank you for this amazing package of a mod, at the moment i think i've got only one issue is that the cosmo memory cutscenes audio track doesn't seems to work(the 2 others works perfectly) best way to notice it: at the start of the game when the mako reactor explode it plays the regular sound not the cosmo memory more bombastic sound. anyway its a minor issue i just hope its not just on my end.

This project's goal is to retranslate FF7 into Italian using Daniel Burke's Reunion as the English source for the dialogues, while constantly cross-checking with the original Japanese script.

For non-dialogue terms Caledor have been reusing official translations as much as possible.

The goal is not to have a localization that looks only to FF7 as a stand-alone game, Caledor want it to blend well with the other Final Fantasy games that already exists in Italian.

It's hightly recommended to use HD textures with this mod.

As this translation is based on english's game version, you MUST choose english as game language in the left menu or it'll wont work as intended

If you want to do a dedicated preview, just send it to me and i'll include it ^^
If you want to translate the AIO to italian i can send you the files to translate too (it's a lot of work so only if you have time and motivation, it's not mandatory ^^)

Hey guys! Amazing mods in this version. but I would like to ask to add the Portuguese language if possible. I have the files and it works normally in Steam mode without mods, and I played with the translation in version FF7.SYW_V5.Update.5.65. but I was unsuccessful in adding the extra language in this new update. Sorry, I'm not very good with these things. I just installed this mod and updated it to 1.04 and it looks great. But I can't get the sound effects to work. I am trying to use the original sound effects. I can hear the music, which I have set as the FFNx Music, but I cannot hear any sound effects. Here are my settings:

If I choose any sound effects aside from the original ones, those are audible. But I prefer to play with the original ones. Please note that this behavior is happening with all audio on my PC with the vanilla FF7 as well. Something notable about my default audio device, Windows defines it as a multichannel device and unlike most audio devices, there is no ability to “configure speakers” in the control panel. It is always 8 channels. This may have something to do with why the vanilla version’s audio does not work at all, even though literally every other game’s audio works fine.

As you can see here in the control panel for this device, the "Configure" button is greyed out, that is this device's way of defaulting to 7.1. I do have all speakers connected for a 7.1 system, so this is not an instance of the SFX coming out of a center channel that I don't have a speaker for.

In case this is helpful to other folks, the solution for gaming mode + Steam Deck OLED is to edit the options for the game in Lutris.  If you go to the game's System Options menu, you'll have the ability to set environment variable key-value pairs.  There you want to set DXVK_HDR to 0.  That will force HDR off, and that environment variable will still be used when launching from gaming mode. I tried doing the same in the command-line for the game in gaming mode itself, but this didn't work with Lutris. Once the option is set in Lutris itself, the exported command line to run from gaming mode will now work without the colors being washed out.

I've done some little bit of researches but not been terribly confident in my ability to correctly go about implementing the upscaled original limit break texture without breaking the Unified magic textures in general. I thought maybe at some point you'd consider again the option for it in a future version. I took a short video to showcase both the casting animation texture and the limit break done by Grimmy ages ago. They both look more true to the original and somehow smoother in the way the texture connects to itself when wrapped around in actual gameplay (to me anyway). But these are, so far as I have seen, the only magic textures I would want to swap in.

I do also sometimes wonder why, in some places, figures are drawn sporadically shuddering rather than persisting in position as the camera moves, especially in the gold saucer speed coaster minigame. I think this happens at the very start of the game as the train pulls in as well, the Shinra guards sort of shake until the sequence settles to a fixed angle, as if to simulate a handheld camera? Is that a bug or intentional? In the speed minigame it definitely looks like a bug.

As said i won't do that, my AIO pack is make to be as simple as possible to the final user.
I won't provide tons of options for each texture/stuff.
If you want to use those textures, look at the help i provided to add them as an "additionnal textures" mod, you can't mess up things by using a mod as it'll have its dedicated folder, if you make mistake, just remove this folder and all'll be restored

shake of fmv's model is because of 30fps fmv as the camera data needed to be interpolated, it's like to film a video, if you film in 24fps, the camera shake is way less noticable that if you film it in 60 fps, it's the same here.
About coaster minigame i always seen this like this, probably related to the 60fps minigame.

don't looks right for you ! not for everyone, if so i'would have lots of complain about it, it's not the case.
yes with some effort you can make your own iro for those texture so you can place them in the right order in 7th and even share it for other user who would like to use them to overide the file used by my texture... https://7thheaven.rocks/help/modhelp.html
you don't even have to mod my iro mod, just need to make your own and place it in the right order in 7th to overide one only files you need.
seems it's always easiyer to complain than to take the time to make a mod witch can profit to all users ....

About transparency at it's only related to the countdown, it's not related to my pack but the way FFNx deal with external texture transparency

Hi Satsuki, first of all thank you for the amazing work you all did, i'm loving the revamped visuals and musics.
I'm trying to get Caledor mod for italian translation work but without success. First i've tried to pass directly the Caledor files into the data folder in your game folder, but the result is an half translated game: i've arrived at the train graveyard, all dialogues are translated except the part with President Shinra, Heidegger and Reeve; all the rest of the game still in english.
Then i've uninstalled all and reinstalled, trying to get it work with 7th heaven but even if I activate the mod in it, it didn't show up when launcing the game with FF7_SYW_Unified. I see all translated into italian only if i start the game from 7th heaven but in that case none of the mods of Satsuki pack are active.
There is a way to get it work like you shown in the img? I'm new to FF7 mods, so i'm not so aware about what is AIO, IRO and how to put all together.

I'm having issues getting the Fields Textures part of the mod through 7th Heaven. The download speed for just that one alone is always less than 10KBps and after around an hour I get the message that the download ended unexpectedly. It was on a fresh install of FF7 Steam version and fresh install of 7th Heaven. I've tried reinstalling both just in case, closing 7th Heaven and reopening, It's not my net speed cause I can DL 1080p movies in like 20 seconds.

To install them manualy it's amost as easy as using a ".iro" file :
-Download the .7z file
-Extract it (with 7zip for exemple)
-In 7th use the "Import Mod" button, then "From Folder" and select the folder where you have extracted the mod (do it for each mod you want to import).

A guy from this forum send me the link to this mod because it's exactly what I'm searching for. I can't install ff7 mods with 7th heaven because I play in another room with STEAM LINK and 7th heaven is not compatible with this, because steam link can't open the game throught another software and must open the game from the game executable.

This mod allows to install the mods directly on the folder on the game and uses the executable of the game so it's perfect.

The problem is that the FF7_SYW_Unified.V1.03.exe file has not one but 3 virus alerts on virustotal.com and the 1.04 update has too. It's impossible for me (and for sure for more people) to install content with virustotal.com alerts on my computer so please... can you release a "portable" version of your mod that allows to install it without any executable? I'll be very happy if you do that. The executable does not help, you can simply paste a small guide of where to put all the content and that's all.

ps: the pack main exe is also seen as 1/68 false positive so a portable version won't change that ...

After that it just hangs on that stage of startup.


I was getting this exact same error over and over and over when installing SYW Unified on steamdeck, was driving me crazy!!! Kept freezing on the 'Generate FFNx Configuration' portion of lauching the game, never successfully launching, throwing out all these types of errors like the one you mentioned. Followed the steamdeck installations to a tee and was still getting the error. 

After doing some digging I noticed that in the 1.0.4 changelog for SYW, the FFNx was updated to 1.16.0.30. Because of where the launch was freezing it made me think that it was related to this upgrade of FFNx, so I tried doing a fresh install of 1.0.3 and opted to exclude running the 1.04 update and voila! No more errors and the game launches perfectly!!

So if anyone else's game is freezing on the 'Generate FFNx Configuration' during launch on steamdeck, try installing just the 1.0.3 and exclude the 1.0.4. Looks like the 1.16.0.30 version of FFNx is causing issues on steamdeck right now.

I have just got this up and running on my Steam Deck OLED (1TB, with the etched screen) and I'm thrilled. I'm running SYW Unified 1.04.

I'm experiencing one graphical issue for which I'm wondering if there's a fix:

I am able to see the lines where some polys meet on characters and some areas of backgrounds. I can reduce this by turning supersampling and AA to x8, but doesn't solve completely. This occurs at any display type or size, and with all 3d model options. Doesn't happen in any other game, so I don't think it's the screen.

I have just got this up and running on my Steam Deck OLED (1TB, with the etched screen) and I'm thrilled. I'm running SYW Unified 1.04.

I'm experiencing one graphical issue for which I'm wondering if there's a fix:

I am able to see the lines where some polys meet on characters and some areas of backgrounds. I can reduce this by turning supersampling and AA to x8, but doesn't solve completely. This occurs at any display type or size, and with all 3d model options. Doesn't happen in any other game, so I don't think it's the screen.

Thank you. I have created a Steam shortcut via Lutris pointing at the ff7.exe as directed, and launched the game via Steam in desktop mode, but the problem remains!

On my PC, everything is fine, even when using Steam Deck OLED preset.

Further testing on Deck:

Game Mode, Steam Deck OLED preset:

OpenGL - Backgrounds load, but models invisible.
D3D9 - No picture (but game is running, can hear sound response to button press).
D3D11 - No problem with poly lines, but colours wrong.
D3D12 - No problem with poly lines, but colours wrong.
Vulkan - Original problem with poly lines, but colours correct.

Dekstop mode, Steam Deck OLED preset:

OpenGL - No response to controls at New Game/Continue screen.
D3D9 - Satsuki splash screen & audio appears, then no picture or audio response to button press.
D3D11 - ** No graphical problems **; intermittent, very minor input lag.
D3D12 - ** Perfect! **
Vulkan - Original problem with poly lines returns.

So, my problem is solved with D3D12 in Desktop mode.

Maybe a Vulkan issue?

Doesn't matter to me, but FYI the game fails to launch when Steam Achievements option is selected, even in Desktop mode with Steam open.

If I can ever help you by testing on my Steam Deck OLED, please let me know and I will try to assist :-)

if you're using 7th you must use limit breack or my mod but not the 2 of them

After I click "Play FF7" in the settings app, it does its thing but the game doesn't launch. I tried with Default and Powerful Presets and a split-second black screen flashes then disappears. Also, after that, every time I open the settings app or launch FF7 from the dedicated shortcut, it asks me if I want to load the last used preset.

I tried nearly all rendering settings such as Automatic, OpenGL, Vulkan and Direct3D 9,11,12 but when I click play and it's time to start the game, black screen quickly flashes and disappears. FF7.exe and FF7_SYW_Unified.exe process starts but then quickly closes when I check task manager. It's as if something is causing FF7.exe and FF7_SYW_Unified.exe to close and not run properly. I have a Radeon graphics card if that matters at all.

I completely uninstalled previous versions of SYW and it's a totally clean install. FF7 version is from Steam if that matters. Vanilla Steam version of FF7 launches fine from Steam App, of course with no mods.

Any ideas on what could be the problem? I've never had a problem with launching the game using your previous packs.

I tried uninstalling FF7_SYW_Unified 1.05 and then installing it into a different folder name than the default one of FF7_SYW_Unified. Now FF7 launches but it's at the lowest resolution 480p without any mods applied.

How could simply changing the folder name enable the game to be launched? Any idea on what is happening? As far as I can tell, there are no logs being generated to give a clue as to what is going wrong.

FF7_SYW_Unified.exe's closing when you launch the game is not a bug.
if ff7.exe open then close, look at FFNx's log in the 'game' folder it can help solving the issue.
if you're only changing the game's default folder then the game launch without any option, it's probably related to right management on your computer, nothing i can do here

I need to solve it as it's a real bug, it could impact other future modsfound and solved, will be fixed in 1.06 update
The save are mod dependant, for exemple for italian translation it's in : Mods\Gameplay\50-Italian-Translation\save so each gameplay mod have it own save folder to avoid possible bug

It's not related to that at all because :
-If it was due to .net framework (witch is included inside AIO exe) the launcher won't even launch itseft
-If it was du to some vs reditribuable for either FFNx or my pack, you won't be able to launch it even in low resolution
Great for you it solved this way, but it's nothing related to some 'missing libs'

howdy!
i was trying to install these mods through 7th Heaven, and they all downloaded and played fine except for the Unified Field Textures. what happens is once it's done downloading (ie. the progress bar fills up), it remains on a 'downloading' state, whilst the 'time left' field turns negative. apparently this also happens when i try to download the Cosmos FMV mod, as seen below:

I'm aware this is more likely a problem with the 7th Heaven software than with the mods, but i'm here to ask if there happens to be an installer solely for the Unified Field Textures that I can download from somewhere else and install myself?

EDIT: i've searched around and I think what I need is the .iros files, which are conveniently linked in the first post, so i'm gonna try that.

EDIT: got it working! only thing is that the .iro file is 3 versions below the current one (1.30), so if there's a place i can get the updated version please let me know. thank you for your trouble!

Trying this new version was the excuse to try to start with some changes to the settings that I made previously. https://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=21616.msg291592#msg291592

1. I have not inserted any Audio changes
2. I haven't turned on V-Sync
3. I have not changed the game speeds
4. I didn't check skip intro fmv
5. I gave the flower to Tifa instead of the little girl, but I don't think this has any influence.

...the Game moved on, now it works!!!

it's not menu dependant, it's only a couple of hext lines from FFNx's hext folder witch can be appliyed to any mod.
not sure if a mod provide it or if you can apply it from 7th FFNx's setting, but you could easily do your own iro for it and share ikt with anyone ^^

Hello, Im new to the forums!

First of all thanks to satsuki for his amazing work in this mod.
I have installed it succesfully in my windows PC and it looks amazing.
The problem lies with the steam deck version. I have installed everything using the guide on the first page but I get this error. I also had it on version 1.05, and I have updated just today to version 1.06
This is the error:

If I click continue, the menu appears and changes to dutsch (both interface and game language).
If I click Play FF7 a new popup appears and if I click continue again it stays forever on the Generate FFNx-Configuration part

I registered just to tell you how much I appreciate you for creating a stand alone package for this pack. 7th Heaven is just not a good option on macOS (it's just never gonna run correctly there), where we're playing FF7 in a version of Wine that'll always be miles behind proton fork (be ig whisky, crossover, or portingkit).

7th heaven just does not like winemono at all. I only wish echo-s had a stand alone, that'd really make my day, but at least can make the game look good for now LD. If you know of a way to install that without 7th heaven mod manager, I'm all for it. not sure how to convert it to compatible loose files and add it to config.

Hi. I am having problems installing this on the steam deck.
I followed the written guide on the first page here, and I got to the point where everything is installed and i need to start the FF7_SYW_Unified.exe.

Only an error message pops up: "The minimum supported platform is Windows 7".
I did the winetricks part, installing dot48, but this already game me some warnings that it might not work on a 64bit system.
Can somebody help me please?

I'm using the OLED preset but after messing around with the graphical drivers, it seems the Vulkan driver is the culprit (the others are very light, which I assume is the colour issue mentioned in the instructions). Not sure if this is a known bug or if there was a setting I could tweak to fix it, but couldn't find any information on it.
