not sure, maybe in relation to q-gears? just thought I'd let you know that the engine is completely different to any of the final fantasy games, so it might as well be a seperate project.

I was thinking more along the lines of model and data extraction.  I'm well aware the engines are totally different.

And Q-Gears currently uses PS1 data.  Though I doubt anyone has stared a DOC project, his question is still a valid one.

All things considered how can anyone be working on it?

It seems a bit of a very premature question.

FF-X FF-X-2 etc probably have precidence.. even then I'm not sure IF or when those would/could be supported.

Well it should be possible to support FFX/FFX-2, except it'll take longer. The main data track is hidden from view, but you can still read the files off of it, it's basically like Final Fantasy 9 with it's IMG file containing the data. I guess the main problem would lie in identifying all of the files, I think the last time I checked FFX had around 9000.

If it's like FF9 this is good.  DVD's have a nice advantage of having no special modes for reading and no special tracks. It's all just data.  The problem comes in reading the actual data (going through the OS) but it's less of a hassle in the long run.
We do have all the movie indexes for FFX and FFX-2 at least :D

DOC though is not available in the US yet I don't know about Japan.

There are programs to extract all of the files from both games, so that's a plus I guess.

By any chance does Dirge of Cerberus use the Bouncer engine (or a modified version of it)?

It might be where you live in the US. I know I first saw it in my local Wal-Mart on the 17th for $50; And I live in the state full of amish.

My friend pre-ordered it and picked it up on the 15th.  The Bouncer Engine, are you referring to that game "The Bouncer" released for the PS2 back in 2001?  That was developed by Dream Factory, but published by Square Electronic Arts.  Modified bouncer engine?  Not sure, I just hated that game.  :-D

I think Square developed their own engine, I think it went through from FFX, to FFX-2, to KH1, to KH2, and then to DoS making improvements along the way.

I'm also interested in finding out if there any leftover data from the JP online mode in the US game (ie, the character models used and such)
