Please edit it and use the enter button more often before i'm gonna read it.
You're gonna read it out of boredom anyways.
Have to be bored first then ;)
Well I am not going to read it either - did you start with Linux, or did you add Linux after having Windows installed?
The first few times you play with Linux will always use up 3-5 days worth of your time - trust me I know.
I got so fed up I just stuck with command line Linux to run my fileserver pc.

Well my monitor is DVI, so there is only 3 possible settings - Brightness, Contrast and Colour Temperature.
Mines isn't caliberated, but Dell put in 3 profiles - Desktop, Gaming and Multimedia which all effect the above settings in different ways...

General Discussion / Re: Fraps recording question?
« on: 2007-03-13 16:44:51 »
if you are thinking of recording FF7 High res, then you should think about using a dual core pc at least or fiddle with the compression codecs you have set in frapps to find one that doesn't hit the cpu as much (helps to have lots of RAM too).
Don't go for low bit rates because that involves more cpu time, and try to avoid complex codecs like MP4/DivX/Xvid.
Maybe a simple Mpeg2 codec might help?

HD loader was a god send. But kudos goes to the independence exploit which really made it all happen with the mode 9 hack (or something along those lines).
Took me an age to learn it all and get the files I needed onto my memory card, but its been well worth it ever since. Mind you I do this to get rid of my DVDs so I can throw them out or sell them, I wish you could do the same with PSX games, it would save the effort of using ISOs with an emulator, Hope someone finds a way to run HD loader on PS3 (mind you with backwards compatibility issue, would PS3 run FFXI with the hard drive? I doubt it).

I may only have a GUI less linux, but my linux is OK with me when I plug in USB hard drives and thumb drives. But since it isn't GUI I have to mount the volumes myself if I want to use it for file share purposes on SAMBA and so on.

How on earth did you manage to do that with a XP installation?
If I remember correctly you just choose what size you want the partition and it formats it in NTFS. If you stick to that it should work fine - I have installed XP on hundreds of machines - my own, friend's and loads at work.

If you just used the dafault boot loader (lilo i think) you can have windows reactivate the boot sector on the boot partition by booting up your XP / VISTA CD and waiting for the setup to give you the welcome screen. On XP you press ENTER to continue and then R for the Recovery console while on VISTA you just hit repair/recover I cant remember and it does it for you automatically.
Once you log into the recover console (you need the administrator user's password (not a user with administrative privalages)) you can run fixboot for XP to put its code back into the bootsector. Linux files will still be in the root folder I would assume.

Linux does not suck a** for a workstation, it just it a hassle which makes it useless for people with work to do. I decided against using it for a workstation and just used it on my file server.

Linux has a lot of flexibility that Windows lacks and vice versa

Q-Gears / Re: New Logo....
« on: 2007-02-27 06:53:06 »
They both look good, but hey the 2nd one has more detail gone into it.

186
You can't do anything about the numbers - they are textures after all, therefore increasing the resolution means you are going to get some misaligned fonts/bitmaps.
Besides its not really that bad is it?

What I really meant to say was that we wouldn't want people to think the project was even remotely FF related by just looking at the logo (same reason we are changing from the original logo).

I would probably go for the top one as a work in progress logo.
The 2nd one is a FF style font and draws some similarities to the original logo, I would say steer clear of anything FF releated in promotional material for Q-Gears, includes the logo.

You are not running anything in the background, any tray apps that we should be aware of?
Have you tried the software rendering mode?

Zegapain is the anime, subbed originally by Megami Fansubs and the DVD version is being tackled by Shinsen Subs (but by their standards it will be verrry slow).
The Megami Subs have some very small quality issues near the end of the series (I think they wanted to get it over and done with so they could pack up and go home).
Check Anime-Suki they may have the torrents on their or check Baka-updates and they will have the torrents.
Zegapain is a fantastic sci fi anime with a fair share of Mecha and mind bending truths the fathom.

OK here is another anime to name:
The lead female cannot remember her past and constantly needs blood transfusions (as shown in episode 1), it seems as she was put into foster care by an unknown group.
As she learns about her past she realises she is less human than she originally imagined, and she is the only one who can stop her "twin" sister.

Sony for many years have Pi**ed on its EU client base, I really hate them for doing so.
Supposedly the EU console will have a redesigned Case, now I wonder if anything will be missing (ports etc).
If ever I get a PS3 - maybe when I am forced to by game designer's choices to go exculsively to Sony - I will have Linux on their and find something usefull for it to do while it sits on the shelve (email/file/counter strike server?) and make use of the £400 or so I have to shell out for it.
Not to mention the fact it is larger then the old console (what ever happened to general thinking in technology that more advanced usually equals smaller?).
Sony have not won a fan in me that is for sure.

Yep, easy wasn't it?
Here is one that came out last year in Japan.
Reality is not what it seems. The lead character is happily living out his youth in high school only to one day be shown that this life he has been living was only a simulation which repeats itself every year.

Well cloud didn't come from a magical family, but I see what you are getting at.

OK, here is a more recent anime that I have been watching lately;
The show starts off with a couple, the girl loses her memory and the series relates to their journey trying to recover the lost memories (If that made any sense).

And here is an easy second one:
A girl goes back in time to the Feudal warring era of Japan. People believe her to be the reincarnate of a former priestess.
She soon finds herself teaming up with other characters to find of demons and bring peace to the era (as well as other stuff - which would give it away).

correct! :-D
seems after sleeping on it I also remebered.

OK, here is an easy one.
Theres this boy who comes from a magical family, he gets involved in a love triangle.
One of the girls involved works at a cafe.
Name that anime!

I am trying to remember the name of a anime series I used to have on dvd but have since lost it.
The anime was based around these children who are born in to a small community and all have wings.
They have a duty to help out in the human village.
The series follows the life cycle of one these "children" who is born in to the community in episode 1 and is followed through till she dies.

Can't remember the name for the life of me.

What runtime libraries do you need for this program, when I run it I get a message for some Borland DLL...
