Archive / New version of FF7Music
« on: 2005-10-15 22:06:24 »
I get a weird error which causes FF7MUSIC.exe to run veeeery slow... (and mostly crash at all after that...)

It says that it couldn't enumerate any tvtuners (i haven't got one), then it tries to connect to NVGPIO (NVtunep) or something like that... and then it says it's using Display 1... and that's it... These three messages are repeatet until it crashes... and i don't know what to do -._-.

Teh, ok, that's a start  :D

I'll keep asking anyway... Even though my very own english version should arrive in a few days =D Yeah, you hear right, this opportunity to play it in... well... high detail mode (lol) is worth enough for me to by a english version of the game... stupid me =D

I don't want to push you... But it seems that all other Questions belonging to that topic are ingored by everyone :P

Will there be releases of this patch for other language versions of the game in the future, like german, french... and other, if they exist (...)

A simple 'Yes' (not tomorrow but I think sometime within the next ten years) or 'No' (hell, I don't have any reason to do that!) will be sufficiant =D

Thx

Troubleshooting / Final Fantasy VII Crash

Just out of curiosity... You don't mean Animevamps 1.04 Patch?

If you use it, please read the Great FF7 FAQ (one of the Stickies)... 1.02 with Nvidia Mode + Riva TNT should work... No need for 1.04, which is able to cause additional problems... (at least on my installation it did ^^ yeah, those bad old 1.04 times...)

This problem occurs on _any_ 6x00... GT, Ultra, Go... simply everyone...

Seems that it does impact your plans at last *grin*

I can assure you, no FSAA nore AA will work in FF7 with any 6800 (GT, Ultra)... Make shure both are turned off, not only AA, runs fine for me...

The picture looks like FSAA is active ;)

However not even the Rivatuner workaround for FSAA on GF cards works flawlessly with the 6800 series...

@Canim: No, it won't work, simply because both english and german Version of FFVII got different Files, i.e. different file names with different languagues used in them at some points... This is what I think that could cause the patch not to work at least ;)

Troubleshooting / FF8 Crash
« on: 2005-07-23 19:50:59 »
muhaha, Athlon 64... has some problems with this Eidos Logo thingy...

Just delete 'publish.pak' (well, it is called publish.something at least XD)  of your ff8 game folder and you should be able to play this game again ;)

<-agrees

there is no way to use Hardware mode in FF8 and a GF 6800 'blah' (whatever model you try ^^)

you could use software mode and scale down the image on you screen (ie make it smaller than this fitting fullscreen thingy that looks creepy @ 19'' from wherever you look)... but this is no 'real' solution ^^

so far no nvidia driver solved this, and i think that no driver will _ever_ solve it... 'cause the game is just too old ^^

Mmh OK, some questions...

Have you installed the FF8 patch by Square? GF or Non-GF?
Are you using any other Patch?

It may be possible that your Game and/or Install CD are damaged, try to reinstall the game, try to make Cd-Images of the CD's and try to play with them and so on...

If nothing works, wait till someone else answers to your question ^^

Archive / Getting FF9 (PSX-UK-PAL) to Work on ePSXe
« on: 2005-07-10 16:05:30 »
Hmm, what's so problematic in getting PSX Games to work with EPSXE?

Here's how I do it...

1. Make an Image of the desired Game (via CloneCD for example)

2. Mount Image into Alcohol OR Daemon Toolz (let's say the Virtual Drive is called 'E:')

3. Open EPSXE -> Configure CD-Rom Plugin (must be one of Pete's)

Config:

4. Instead of your real CD-Drive you choose the virtual one generated by Daemon Toolz or Alcohol (in this case 'E:')

5. In point 2 we already mounted the Image, so what we do now is detect the read mode, async reads, max read speed etc. etc.

6. IMPORTANT: In Pete's Plugins there is the option to 'use PPF-Patch file'!
If you already have downloaded a PPF for the wanted game, just select it there!
Hit OK.

Finished! You can now play your game via 'File -> Run CD-rom' instead of 'Run ISO'

And you don't have to patch the ISO, you only have to select the Patch File in the Plugin ;-)

If you don't find any Patch files, you could try the German PPF patch... Grab it here:

Only, what can I help is: try not-original drivers.
I prefer Omega Drivers. Some games works better than on original drivers.
For example, MGS2 Substance doesn't work on new original drivers.

Answer to this:

Tried Drivers from 66.xx up to 77.30 (everyone, believe me, even the modded  )

I tried every driver out there I could find. DHZeropoint, Omega, blah... ^^

I've got the same problems as you...same card and same everything...i really hope someone will make a patch or something like that to resolve it...I have tha same problem with FF7 too the only different thing is the characthers are black and the backgrounds arr ok...  I'm so sad for this fucking problem

Hmm, I haven't got this problem in FF7.. I play FF7 with 1.02 patch in Hardware / TNT2 mode I think, without FSAA or AA... and got no problems, only in FF8...

You've got a geforce graphics card; you need the patch!

Did you even bother to read my specs?
there it says:

Looked even worse before I applied the GeForce Patch by Square...

<- Somehow implies that I have the Patch installed, or not    hehe ^^

So for now geforce 6 owner can play ff8 comfortably only in software mode.

Mmh, sad  :(

Anyway, thanks for the overview about if or if not to fix... Seems I have to use my old P2 400 MHZ / RivaTnT2 to play FF8 *goes and sets up old PC* ^^

Archive / FF8 Graphics Bug - All 'Blocky'..

Theh', one Problem solved (by deleting the Eidos Logo Movie ^^v) - the next occurs...

Well, look: http://www.ani-matrixx.de/anited/data/media/14/ff8.JPG

This is how it looks... All blocky everywhere two textures should merge...
Looked even worse before I applied the GeForce Patch by Square, had the look of FSAA enabled all the time while it wasn't.
The Patch solved the FSAA 'look-alike' problem, but not this one...

(Specs:)
Athlon 64 3400+
Nvidia GF 6800 GT

FSAA and AA are both off...
Tried Drivers from 66.xx up to 77.30 (everyone, believe me, even the modded ;) )
Tried to disable all stuff possible in GraCa menu... (Vertical Sync, etc.)
Tried various other stuff (reinstalling, re-reinstalling, using an ISO instead of the original CD...)

And still, no solution in sight  :-?

Might anyone here know this problem and/or has a tipp how to get rid of it?

Thanks...

(Note: Could play in Software mode, but not until everything possible has been tried *grin*)

Archive / FF8PC crashes after EIDOS logo
« on: 2005-07-07 17:07:42 »
Mmh, got a similar Problem but with the 'crash' within the Video...

However, I somehow figured out in which file the Opening 'Eidos Logo' is stored (a files called like 'publish.pak' in the game directory) and simply deleted it!

Worked for me after this...

(only if you don't count 'black boxes' in the Backgrounds wherever two textures should flow into another to problems, this is... but this is a problem of WinXP, my Graphics Card (driver) or so on...)

Note: Just deleting the Eidos Logo file will not lead to any other complications ;-)

Troubleshooting / FF8 crashes
« on: 2005-06-19 20:51:33 »
Hi,

sadly I got no solution, but the very same Problem.

Installed FF8, wanted to play and *boom* crashes every time a Video is or should be shown, sometimes even in the middle of the Video. And this is most times the Eidos Logo. Just made it three or four times into the opening sequence...

My System Specs are:

AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (<- seems everyone with this problem has one...)
Mainboard: ASRock Upgrade 1689
Graphics Card: Leadtek A400 GT TDH (6800 GT, also conforms with mr's spec)
Memory: 1024 MB G.E.i.L Ram

I also run Windows XP SP2, Direct X 9.0c with no obvious problems. I tried to run FF8 in several modes, with several graphic card drivers (Detonator up to Forceware 76.44) and got no positive result...

Since we're not the only ones with this problem, I think Ideas or Solutions on how to fix this would be very welcome...
