Red XIII was supposedly the last of his species. Where did the other one come from?

Planet Retcon.

Maybe this was a bad idea, lol.

My thoughts are, if there was a higher power or a God, they have since then deceased. If you view the world today, there's absolutely no chance there is a God that wants peace and all the evil to be vanquished.

That does not go against the idea.  In fact, if a god were to intervene it would fundamentally affect free will.  For good to exist, bad also has to exist.  If a god was to be fair, it would not be allowed to intervene.

Unfortunately, this also means that if a higher power created the universe etc, it didn't care that there would be a lot of suffering in its world.  But this is assuming that thought is the same for a higher power as it is for us.

Certainly, whatever the truth is, it is way beyond what a human can comprehend.  On that I can be completely sure.

Religion.  Once served a purpose, now serves none.  Creates far too many problems, especially Islam, which is an ideology from a war-lord.

All of them are outdated (with exception of Buddhism which is strictly not in the same league).

All religions are man made and any that claim to be divine are lying.  I personally believe in some form of higher power, however that does not mean I believe in fairy tales or after life or the man made deities in a few books.  It is all man made rubbish.

We do not need telling what is right and wrong.  Anybody who uses religion as  a moral guide has a problem, not least because they are only behaving the way they do because they are being told to or are being offered some sort of reward.

The sooner religion dies out the better, however a large amount of people are stupid/naive and believe in Aliens visiting earth, 9/11 conspiracy theories and religion.  It may take  a very long time before we finally shed the last shackle.

I think people should have realised this from the moment they did the FIRST prequel sequel and that dreadful movie.

When a company is only interested in profit and is trying to carry on a game that was FINISHED- OF COURSE there is going to be an issue.

I have not played any of the spin off games, because I do not need to.  FF7 ended with FF7.   If more people thought like me, squarenix would be kicked off their backsides into doing something decent.

The fact is, so many of you fell for it yet again, and it really pisses me off.  Then 20 years later you roll up with "Has it gone too far"  YES.  It has and it did the second they thought "Hang on, we can get by on the brand name"

They have played this fanbase for fools, and for years and continue to and WILL continue to until a majority wake up.  Originality is key.  Not allowing a company to rip the piss out of the fanbase is key.  Waking up early and not late is key.  Not accepting a sub standard story and game just because it is related somewhat to a story and game you loved, is key.

It is simply too late now.  FF7's story has been completely bastardised.  What is worse is the amount of fanboys who make excuses for

- lame additions like genesis
- retcons (rufus alive, hojo alive, sephiroth alive)
- poor storytelling (brain in a computer)
- substandard dialogue
- graphics over substance
- cash in.

"Oh he didn't really die...  no...  we didn't see a body"
"We didn't see any body or his heart stop" < yes I actually did get that response!

I've heard of being attacked for holding 1 belief or another, but seems kud has a real issue with people who don't commit to either position because they realise the evidence is way too lacking.

Maybe it is because agnostics are open minded and cannot be attacked as easily for a position, that some ultimately have an issue.  Well that is tough.  I find atheism closed minded, but nowhere near as ridiculous as religion.  But I find both rigid and closed minded because they both claim to know best when they can't.

I can repeat that all day but agnostics have the best philosophy in this case, and that, is just a basic reality.  Until we have a lot more evidence, no position is good enough.  Good luck getting that evidence, because it exists outside of science.  It created science in the first place.

I have never met an agnostic I didn’t like.

nor have I, and I am one.  Agnostic is the rational viewpoint when presented with such a lack of facts.  Athiesm is slightly bigoted that it can simply say with almost absolute certainty what is and is not.  (ALMOST I said).  And religionists are the other way, often to the point where they believe fairy tales over logic.

Agnostics imho are the ones with a brain and real understanding because they have reached the conclusion that based on the available evidence there simply is no way to know or reach a conclusion.  I have many ideas and theories, and I have an idea of which are likely or unlikely, but that's all they are... ideas.  Science cannot answer the major questions, it just has ideas.  So do I. So does everyone.

I think you will find he did exist.

And I really don't understand why this is a thread based on Christian fundamentalists when they are the least of the religious problems in the UK and europe at the moment.

As I said before, God exists because the alternative explanations for the universe existing can be every bit as fantastic.

Sigh.

Edited to remain civil.

In other news, I think I know how to fix this sense issue...

edit.  Not so easy.  Probably going to take a lot of messing.  I know what is wrong but to fix takes a bit more work :) I will send what I have learned in PM.

Yes that gets it to 65535 I take it? Seemed to work for me, And if I read you right:

5ca107 becomes je 005CA119

and 5ca10f becomes cmp [ecx+009AB10C],0000ffff

So what we saying now, that we can limit the sense to 65535?  I will look into this later and see what I can see.  Which won't be much . ha.

I am afraid the maximum will probably be just 32767.  Unless someone changes code to allow more.  It is signed.

Scripting and Reverse Engineering / Re: FF7 Field Messages
« on: 2011-04-26 05:13:22 »
Ones we found:

006F5AD4 < spacing of dialogue  (there are 2 of these, 1 is lower down.  Identical value.  You need to change both. for that)

006EC28B < X of first line.

00630ceb  < sets the dialogue line height

006318e5 < sets the window height.

006EC285 < Y of all lines

00632cb3 < works out how many lines there should be  from box height.

00630ea6, 00631b31 and 006311f7 < as above.  There are 6 of these in all.  As far as I can tell, 3 for WM and 3 for field.  Identical code. Easy to find.

I have probably missed some, but any case the game writes the window sizes from 1 piece of code 006318e5 I think from there (cant check, ive closed ff7 down). That one is the height.  The others are nearby.

The data is stored temporarily at another location, and is used for both field and WM. You can change those easily at run time.  If you cannot find those I will be back tomorrow.

edit.  Ok I loaded it for you:

The window size data is at mov ax,[ecx+00CFF5C2]

ecx+00CFF5C2

so check near 00CFF5C2 and you will find the runtime values for windows.

Just fyi
The actual Japanese is : モンスターはわざのパワーがつきた。> {VAR}'s skill power is used up. [lit. "the monster has"]

Possibly doesn't even use a var and just "The monster has used up its skill power".  Not sure if var is used.  I don't think it is, since モンスター is monster.

resident evil controls were great, if you learned them.  It made the game far more enjoyable as a whole because you couldn't just go dive out of the way etc, it made danger more imminent.  Also, some of the challenges and puzzles on the earlier games were much tougher than what came later.

Now it is just another shooter.
