Someone replaced already some files with moded ones. He wants to make a tutorial for it if we can bring the battle textures to work with. It seems there is a size limit.

It's actually only Barrett and Vincent  (and Cloud ) who have different models for the different weapon types. Yuffie has one real battle model and the other are enemy models. But there could be your problem. You should just delete the **da files of these models and see if it fixes your problem.

You could use the game converter to patch the game to use the English exe with the French localisation. That's actually the real purpose of the GC.

I dunno if it helps you, but an early psx demo has a slightly different battle module. First thing: the party m members go into a ready-to-execute-comand-position like in ff8. The other thing is that everyone is facing the last attacker or the last character who has done an action on him/her (like casting cure).
It just wouldn't surprise me if there are leftover code or fast solutions like deactivating code.

I like yume. It has a nice glass sound in the background. This glass sound would also be great replacement for the planets cry sound.

use_mipmaps can be set to y. Tough, i honestly didn't see a noticeable difference in visual, but it should make the image less noisy in 3d scenes by reducing the texture resolution the bigger the distance of the camera is to the texture.

Phew, there is so much confusion about 7H.
First thing, I hate the catalog. Why? Because it turned 7H into another but more advanced Bootleg. That wasn't what I wanted it to be like, when I worked with Iros on it.
EQ2Alyza has my full respect for what she is doing, but taking care of dozens of mods is not what one person should handle alone. My idea was that every mod creator is making his own iro file, which he takes care of. I knew as mod creator as best what can went wrong when combining mods, because I knew what my mod does change. Sure there are mods which have no author anymore and there we need someone who's taking care of this, but active developed mods should be maintained by the authors.

And Dan you highly misjudge and misunderstand 7H. 7th Heaven is just a tool to easily install mods without going into the process of moving, decompressing, compressing and moving files back. That's its main purpose. But it also has functions, which did allow certain mixes of mods. It has also functions, which allow mods which are hardly realizable with the ordinary tools. You should really have given it a chance. I also think that your new mod manger will be hijacked by 7th Heaven, and we control your mod manager through it, it has the functions for this.

Though, this really doesn't matter at all anymore, because I think quantumpencil's Sister Ray will replace any modmanager in the future. It changes moding the game into an entirely new level. But I guess we need than a real modmanager to sort and handle mods like MO for the Bethesda games.

Sounds correct to me. I guess it's like a free turn for the player and shows that the enemy has run out of MP.

I tested a PNG file which has no edits and was exactly the same as the source and it didn't work. So the pallet isn't the only problem but the PNG format itself.

The ambient lighting around the sample pod stays consistent instead of fading down low like it usually does.

Sadly the lightlayer can't be replaced without to break the light animations.

You don't need the ChaOS Cloud if you using the new dynamic weapons. Well it's not really new but it is cleaned from unnecessary files.

Get better soon Maki, the amount you have done already just by yourself is impressive, even though its based on the pc version which has lots of graphical bugs and sound issues compared to ps1, it shouldn't be too hard to replace those with better versions since its open source. Possibilities are endless still sad you have put more effort in this than Square Enix has done since the original release.

The sound issue will be there even if you use the PSX source. Problem is that the sound has instructions for SPU of the PSX. Without a way to interpret the functions to PC, it won't matter which source you choose. Though, I would probably aim the project as 32bitRPG-Maker, which luckily works with FF8. One thing is actually a demand for such an RPG maker, the other is of course to be safe for the layers of SE.

Usage:
To unpack an iro-file place it into packed. Run the bat file and select unpack when you are asked.
To pack a folder into an iro mod file, place it into unpacked. Run the bat and select pack.

Keep in mind that the bat will create iros which are always compressed by content.

I could bring it to work via batch, but I need a bit time to set it properly up. Though, I don't think it will solve the issues which people have with 7H, because they still need to downpatch the game and there is usually the biggest problem.

No support for the vanilla steam version. Sorry. While 7H isn't really needed for this mod, Aali's driver is and it only works with the '98 version.

I talked with Turboss maybe I can make a simple standalone packer and unpacker.

im having the opposite result, the reuonion mod (RO3) installed from the 7th heaven catalog works perfectly, I tried installing the RO5 without 7th heaven and no remako and it still had the same glitched menus and such. Could you elaborate how I could install R05? theres nothing for me to take out of the installer.

Edit: I did a workaround, however am not sure if its working, I just patched RO5 over RO3 activated in 7th heaven, then i deactivated becaause under 7th Heaven and its still using the retranslation, which im guessing is coming from the R05 patch?

That has the same effect as if you patch the game without 7h Heaven. 7H never installs anything. It replaces the files in memory. Though, of course there are these different exe, but those can be replaced by next files, which would patch the ff7.exe in runtime. EQ2ALYZA knows this, but she is waiting for R06.

Hey, would you be so kind and release the non Palmer converted up-scaled fields, too. I would like to tweak some of them manually. Nothing special, just working out some letters or adding details like stars in the sky (the scene when you leave Midgar).

Do you have enabled the direct mode by any chance. I made the experience that 7H, ChaOS and the Reunion patched files doesn't like each other when it's enabled.
