I agree he looks pretty washed out. Other than that I think it looks nice. I cant tell if you can see the smile on his face since the image is going to be small, but may be something to think about considering there was a terrorist attack that killed people and caused a huge explosion. If you cant see the smile while playing the game then all I can say is its a bit washed out :)

In fact, i think the face is perfect as it is and i believe Spoox did it on purpose.
Filmed tvs are always that bright and kinda blurry.
I just find the tv having a weird angle, like it's parallel to the camera angle.

I must say this is quite a spot for a little kidder humor. It's small and I don't think anyone will mind if the 40x40 pixel television screen in an optional house has some character thrown in it and would add a nice little bit of novelty.

Oh I was thinking of the tv in the room of the house just outside of Aeris' house.
It would be even more fitting if it were the TA hideout TV though a little more obvious.

or do I need to put signs throughout the backgrounds, to make things more obvious?

Cid isn't in the Avalanche base at the beginning of the game. In fact, by the time you get Cid, the place has already been destroyed.

I can't think of anyone who smokes at the beginning of the game except for maybe Barret, Biggs and Wedge.

I haven't changed the TV, it would be nice to put the news flash movie within the script as the news is mentioned, has anyone tried such a thing already?
The green lines are due to....well it's just a test anyway. ;D
BTW for those who want to try this field out I put the images within the WIP repo, they can just be copied into the mod directory, no need to alter LGP's.

Still two guns missing in the scene, but it gives a pretty much finished view of the scene, hope you like it.

Only criticism i can think of on your scene at the moment is perhaps reduce the specularity of the punching bag. It should be less reflective if barret punches it often.
