OK ... so I've *finally* updated one of my programs (plug: http://www.warwick.ac.uk/~csuzs/lgptools155.zip ). Now I'm actually kind of in a programming 'mood' I thought I might as well throw open to the forum for suggestions ;)
Anyone got bug reports and/or feature suggestions for my programs? I know there's probably been lots of posts about them in the past ... but it'd be cool for anyone who's /still/ got requests to post them now ;)
Oh, and feel free to post anything ... I don't promise anything (requests like "Get FF7Music working perfectly with everyone's computer!" will be answered with a "well, I can *try*"...) but I'm willing to consider whatever's posted :P

Yeee Ha! I'll flush out the critters, and you pick them off!

Actually, if you could get FF7Music to actually LOOP the MP3's I'd be happy. I think the Disable MIDI doesn't work, but I can do that manually in the config prog. And for the record, on my 98 machine, other than the two problems I just mentioned, it works fine.
*Edit 1*
Heh... You can always trust me to find your bugs... Hey! I can see more of the Ancient Forest now! Still screwy though...
Bugs:
On scenes where it's straight-on animation, it works fine. However, when it has an additive animation, such as ancnt2, I get this:
Original
(http://www.sephiroth3d.com/stuff/lpgt155-error01.jpg)
+ Alpha
(http://www.sephiroth3d.com/stuff/lpgt155-error02.jpg)
+ Blend Only (+ Alpha makes no difference.)
Those images represent all field files with addative lighting/animation.
Oh, this is nothing new, but on ancnt3 I get an access violation at addy:00405A30, read addy of FFFFFFFF. zmind3 has the same error.
cos_btm: Access violation: 00405A30, Read of 000003FC
Why is the background now white, instead of black? I liked the black...
blin66_6 seems to be having a similar problem that the ancient forests are... (The file looks like the Shinra Confrence room, from ground level.)
Woah! What's up with the green??
I've found that on a few other images too... (File: colne_4)
And have we ever found a solution to those damn black dots?
*Edit 2*
When I opened the battle.lgp, and tried to look at "aaab" as a field background, the first time it automatically killed the application. The second time I did it, I got "The Instruction at 0x77fcb91 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be written." I clicked OK and I got "The Instruction at 0x77fcbd4 referenced memory at 0xfffffff8. The memory could not be read." I clicked OK, TWICE, then it dissapeared, and closed LGP tools.
Now it just continues to kill the app when I try to do it again.

Right ... a few things...

Oooh, really? Cool! Well, I'll reinstall FF7Music on *my* machine and if it works, something like that could well be possible.

Not quite true. Try mrkt2; that has additive animations (smoke from a chimney) and it works fine. What's happened is that for those scenes, it's failed to auto detect the blend offset code. I'll take a look at those locations though - thanks for pointing them out; it gives me something to look at when refining the blend offset code ;)
Why is the background now white, instead of black? I liked the black...
Well, remember this was originally my Remake field development tool. This way, I can tell which tiles aren't used at /all/ (white) as opposed to those which are actually marked as black background in the file ;) Although I may well change it back to black, since that isn't really needed now.
Woah! What's up with the green??

When you see 'streaking' like that it's the corrective filtering barfing big time. It's not a very complex filter, and it can quite easily guess things wrong.
And have we ever found a solution to those damn black dots?
This is what corrective filtering is supposed to be for ;) Open up mrkt2 without filtering, and note the black dots (especially towards the *bottom* of the image). Turn filtering on and hit reload. Most will disappear. Now, the filter doesn't catch them all (and as I said above, occasionally it messes up totally) ... but it's starting to get there. Though why we NEED a filter to correct this, I don't know...
EDIT: Hang on a sec! The blend offset is set to zero in those shots ... you DO realise that you need to set it to -1 for auto detection? (makes mental note to make -1 the default in future versions...) Don't know whether that'd fix it ... the auto detection isn't perfect ... but worth trying if you haven't ;)
-
seems to be working better than ever. good job, fice.
-
I haven't been able to try them out yet, but the improvements in LGPTools look fine... I'll have a look at it as soon as I find some free time...

It is? I never saw anything about that in the docs... I'll check it out when I get home.

Well everytime i run centra i get a run time error(runtime error 217 at 0001A780)Im using winxp and direct x 8.1.
Errr if the avatar is too big i can remove it....but seing Sephiroth's 3d one i though it was normal...If its too big just tell me and ill just remove it ok? :)
-
(Side note: That's a kind of big avatar you have there... Qhimm might get mad)
-
do you have ficedula's dlls and stuff?
-
Err if you are talking to me yes. After the error it *seems* to work fine. But i never got ff7music to work. After ive set up everything and patched the exe i try to run the game and get 2 weird errors
-
bositman: I'm not eerrrr, but I can say you: Yes, your avatar is too big. You don't need to remove it, it's okay if you just scale it down. I think Qhimm said, 128x96 is the max - and that's the size of Seph 3D's avatar.
Just scale it down and nobody will say anything 'gainst it :D
- Alhexx
-
Well the thing is that ive uploaded it from another forum so i cant trim it and put it back up.Its ok ill just remove it until i find a solution
-
Yeah, my avatar is the max size allowed. (Althought I think the offical max size is 128x128... Don't quote me on that...)
Fice: Here's ancnt2, set to -1 and reloaded:

BTW: I LOVE Panel1... (It says Panel1 under the window's toolbar...)

Seph 3D: I know you told us not to quote you 'bout this, but max size allowed is 128x96.
I justed wanted to say, that I'll have to scale my avatar down, too. It's 64x64 now, and Qhimm recommends 60x60, so...
Oh, and I finally have to take a look at that new LGPTools release ... :D
- Alhexx
- edit -
So, now it is 60x60 ... oh, and 8 posts to go ... 8)
-
Seph: Heh, so I forgot to clear the caption on the panel ... bah ;)
Y'know, if I was bothered, I could release a patch for that ... but it's hardly a great problem, now ;)
-
Really nice program ficedula. :)
Bug report: When i double click on file in the list (i thought that this should be way to view it), it gives me some crash message. But when i right click it and then i select file type it works ok.
-
Mirex: Hmm ... now that shouldn't happen. It doesn't for me...so I'm not entirely sure what's going on there.
Seph3d: What you're seeing with ancnt2 is is autodetecting *part* of the data correctly. I can hopefully work out what's up and fix that...

Well, I've gots an idea. How about seeing if its possible to force the minigames (motorcycle chase in particular) to use the correct timing, instead of running at 3000 fps? :D Perhaps it can be done thru the use of a cetra patch, I dunno. But since it sounded like you wanted suggestions for ANY of your programs (not just cosmo), I figured I might as well throw in my two cents worth.
-
Well ... I can add it to my list o'things to do. But don't expect instant progress on it ;)
In other news, I've fixed a few things in the field viewer, and rather than upload another LGP Tools version I've just uploaded the field viewer app.
http://www.warwick.ac.uk/~csuzs/fieldshow.exe
(Note: it only opens extracted, UNCOMPRESSED level files!)
Has a few extra options...
EG: ancnt2, the autodetection (blendoffset -1) gets /more/ of the graphics; in addition a SubOffset of $66620 will fix everything ;)
