as for the topic at hand, my understanding is that the prp files are just stock lgp files with the prp models in so any mod should be applied after the prp has been applied (and renamed if you wish it).

on another note, any fix for the flashing materia ?  didn't see much about it since the first few pages.

Unfortunately, seems the actor voicing rufus (ice_cold53) had some email issues and didn't get my emails asking him he was still in.  He's since contacted me through PM last night.

Since he's shown an interest in the project still and he was the previous voice actor, the role of rufus is no longer available.

You're more than welcome to try out for any other role however.

As stated, we welcome people who'd like to voice more than one role if you can make your voice different enough.

Well given how long that app.log is it lasted more then 3 seconds. And it is looking for a seffect1_06.png. Take one of the other seffect and copy and rename it to seffect1_06.png

Just wanted to say I was also missing that same file when looking in app.log.

Fixed it by copying another file and renaming it as suggested but just wanted to make sure you guys were aware of the issue.

if we are doing a recast, its because things obviously didn't go as expected.

As for deadlines, I'm hoping it could be done in 6 months.  It might also take longer.  As mentionned, this is a massive project and things don't always go as planned.

Since the amount of characters involved is fairly high, I didn't post lines specific to minor npcs, extras or backup.  In the script excerpt I've put up however are quite a few lines for various extras, most party members and most minor npc.  I suggest you use those.

If you want to try out for someone who doesn't have any line, jus let me know and I'll post some specific to that character.

As for Cloud, its all about having the right voice, dedication and acting skills. If you think you have those then you're more than welcome to do an audition!

I estimate about 6 months for the whole project if everything goes smoothly.

Individual recordings will take anywhere from 1 week to 5-6 weeks (except Cloud which might be 5-6 months).

Hey all

If you've been following our progress, you've noticed there hasn't been much.

Unfortunately, that's because of a slew of reasons, one of them being that some voice actors have lost interest.

As such, we're giving this project a big push and opening a casting call for a bunch of major roles, the most notable being Cloud!

We'll be careful to avoid some of the pitfalls we've encountered in the past and we're going to be changing the way we do things to try and get this done ASAP.

First of all, we're going to switch from a scene based format to individual roles.  That means everyone will be responsible for their own success or failure.  The roles will also be more intensive in order for us to finish and to minimize the number of dropouts.  So we'll be asking chosen voice actors to record 50 lines a week, 5 voice actors at a time (for a total of 250 lines per week).  That's quite a lot but that means that people voicing roles will be finished with their roles in a matter of weeks instead of in a year.  That way, if people only have to record lines for a month or so, there's less chance of them dropping out.

That sound much worse than it is for most characters involved however as you'll be receiving the whole game script when you're cast and NPC's and EXTRAS won't be up until 2-3 months so NPC's will effectively have 2-3 months to record between 50 to a 100 lines.

We'll ask people to record the set of lines we've chosen and mail them to [email protected].

Works great so far.  The only comment I would have is that I find some of the  limit bars a bit too birght which makes them hard to read.  Apart from that, awesome job.

Is this compatible with apz's cloud and the prp ?  If so, is there a special order this must be installed in ?

I really liked the earlier efforts but this latest one actually looks like a mountain and not like some cow has been splattered on the side of the mountain.

This is a very exciting project to say the least.

Hard to say.

The official answer would be "When it's done".

The way we do things now makes it so that we don't have to start over or wait for 30 people to finish a given scene so the risk of non-completion of the project is much lower but the time it takes to finish 100% of it is a bit longer.  It's a worthwhile tradeoff.  The internet won't go away tomorrow and the scope of the project really is huge.  That also means a demo is further out.

We'll make annoucements when there is something significant to announce.

Only Tsetra, Dziugo and I have a copy of the program and there's no plan to release it as is.

If somebody else wants to do an international version voiceover, you can ask dziugo for it.

As for me, I won't respond to any request to send out the program to anybody.

That demo is almost a year old and all of the lines have been redone and quite a few voice actors have been changed so I wouldn't put too much faith in that video.

Finding a "depp voice black souding" voice actor has been a particular challenge however.  Just like Vincent was.

Most internet users usually don't have a voice like Mr. T or like Sam Fisher unfortunately.

I wouldn't know their work so I can't say.

What I can say is that we have a director who has a clear vision of what he wants and is pretty strict at that and a cast involving several members with long theater and/or voice actors backgrounds.  An audition process was also held to choose the best members for each spot.  There also is a long list of NPC's which are going to be done at a later stage which we'd need a pool of voices for so if anyone is interested, please PM me with contact info (e-mail, name, etc.) and a small demo and I'll contact you in a few months when we're doing NPC's.

I think its going to be quality but I'm biased so you'll just have to wait.  Given the criticism Square's own VA is getting, maybe we'll be able to outmatch them (but you'll have to judge for yourselves when the time comes).

Previews are a long way off.

Since too many voice actors were delaying and dropping off when doing it as whole scenes, we've switched from scenes to solely working through the whole game with select voice actors, finishing their lines, and starting with other characters.

This method as a whole means we'll get it all done but a ready to release scene is much further away since that will only happen at the end of the project when only finetunning is left.

how are the programming that in any way is it triggered by the each dialogue box after you hit OK  or is it gonna start with the first dialogue box and finish all them in the segment regardless if you repeatedly hit the OK button threw the dialogue boxes or not

each dilaog box is its on entity so has its own dialog.  so #!.

Tested the new release on my laptop.  Works great.  No issues that I've noticed.  Great job.

Now if only there was something that could be done about those horribly pixelated backgrounds ...

Tested this out with default options (no tweaking of config files) on my laptop (crappy integrated GMA graphics from intel) and everything was just like the original except for the first chest in the game in reactor 1 which flashed oddly after being opened (flashing a greenish hue).

Apart from that minor glitch, it was perfect.

Nice models indeed.

As was previously suggested I would however like to stress the fixing of the materia ârt.  If you need to remove blinking then so be it.  We're bound to miss some because of this bug.
