More Realistic World Map Animations (catchy name, no?)

this .iro  is  compatible with other world map mods, including ones with animation effects, just make sure this one is on top

the exception being the end-game highwind jets, that got modified AFTER the above videos (and its actually one of the best ones)

i tried to get a video of the new highwind jets, but there is only 3 frames to the animation and for some reason my videos will consistently only show 2 of the 3.... that one is a head scratcher for me, so consider the highwind jets a bonus for installing it!



I decided to make a new thread for this because unlike the world map stuff thread, this is 100% my own work and i can release it as my own mod

the textures in the world map stuff thread will never see a release like this (they will be released as a part of reunion, you can go rip the textures yourself, still) because its not my mod to distribute, i was just trying to showcase my work to it

so I edited a few textures that either i thought i could improve, were glitched, or were straight up missing in Felix Leonhart's World Map (original thread: https://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=11542.0)  This is the world map used in The Reunion mod.

This one was very challenging, it reuses a very skinny texture a million times for the base so my course of action was to make a texture that hides tiling the best, rather than make the best mountains i could

This is CaptRobau's mod ( http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=18573.0 ) arranged in the folder structure that Reunion uses,
so you can just drag one folder on top of another, and be done!  Comes with instructions to install, as well as fully uninstall, if needed.

     *note that users should not use this .zip file with 7th Heaven mod manager, click the link above


I did no work on this mod other than arrange files to be loaded with Reunion, and write a readme.

i have successfully implemented 2 different monospaced fonts in reunion, because it does away with window.bin and uses a hext file template
to change the font spacing

however, to do this for the vanilla game (and therefore to be able to release my fonts for 7h) i cant use hext

i've been told i need to uncompress window.bin, then edit the font spacing portion, and recompress it

if anyone can walk me through this process (i'm in no hurry, either... unless you are),
i will add you as a co-author to every font sheet i implement, and in addition i will also credit you as being the super-badass that you undoubtedly are

these come from a website made by a friend and myself (shut down when my friend's mom stopped paying for it)
we did a lot of video editing stuff - and its all crap (we were probably 14, and also just started creating media), but we did these 2 comedic (short) videos and IMO they are pure comedic gold, so enjoy these 2 practically unseen gems (if you are familiar with the majin buu series)

edit: oh yeah, i forgot they are both in .rm (Real Media) format, these are so old (nearly 20 years) that we thought that format would become a thing... we were wrong

i think vlc player is the only thing that will play them out of the box

disclaimer: this is not a carryover from the apology thread, i've made peace with that, said what i had to say, i get it, and i've moved on

but are we really going to have a 'mod that shall not be referred to by name' in this forum?  ::)

i swear if i roll my eyes any harder at this forum's administrative decisions, my eyes will pop out of my skull

so you tell me admins: is typing 'mod that shall not be referred to by name' considered bypassing the censor, and against the rules?

if not, then what is the freakin point? and if so, that is even more completely screwed up, you've made it so any person wanting to freely talk about the FF7 modding scene as a whole can not do so, meaning if you want the MOST access to available information about modding the game, this is NOT the place to be (either way)

any user who wants to continue participating in this forum, better get your macro set for 'mod that shall not be referred to by name'!  ::)

i'm sorry, but i think its time this administration's competency is called into question... (and fairly so)

i am currently wondering about the possibility of editing the gradients that make the bars fill up (my bad if this belongs in troubleshooting)

IE the green gradient that fills up the time bar (and then turns yellow) or the pink gradient that fills up the limit bar

i am pretty confident that unlike the bars themselves, the fillers are not edited with a graphic

so does anyone know if there is a piece of code that makes up the gradients that can be edited with a tool somewhat easily? (or perhaps there is a graphic that can be extracted that i havent seen)
or even if not easily, is it feasible? if no one has successfully edited it, i doubt i have the ability to be the first to do it, but if i'm able to edit them with a bunch of hex codes or something like that (or better yet in photoshop) i am very very confident i can make something better

i'm pretty sure i already know the answer (no), but just wanting confirmation from someone who actually knows instead of having a hunch

can the gradients be pulled out, edited, and inserted back in the game?

for some reason while modding UI elements, the elements for character 2 will show up different/glitched than the other 2 characters even when the exact same graphic should be being used for all 3

see how in the limit/level bars barret's endcaps are bulging out while the other 2 dont?  wtf? there is only 1 copy of that graphic so all 3 MUST be loaded from the same file (may need to download and fullscreen to see what i'm talking about)

in the barrier/mbarrier bars, barret's literally has an extra white line running horizontally through the bottom black space of the top bar (and again, 1 copy of that file/graphic)

Troubleshooting / SOLVED: need a save or two

i'm working on a world map effects mod (for personal use first and foremost, dont get your hopes up...if i finish all the effects and i'm satisfied with it i'll share, of course), and unfortunately i have a bad habit coming from my ps1 days of overwriting my save each time as i go through the game

i need a save with access to both the buggy and tiny bronco, please

two different saves with access to each would work fine as i'll most likely work on one at a time
