Hi here !

Finally I've finished Loveless 2.0 !

Download links :
English version : http://stforever.free.fr/Projets/Loveless20ENG.zip
French version : http://stforever.free.fr/Projets/Loveless20FRA.zip

So what's new ?
- temporary file removed
- 'compilation system' removed
- speed processing increased (in part because now it uses Qhimm DLL)
- less use of RAM (about 10MB maximum)
- new feature : 'Replace all'
- new feature : 'Show/hide text preview' (hiding it increase speed)
- and finally... now available in english language ! (if my english is too bad, please tell me...)

If you find bug or other problem or suggest, please tell me

Thanks you !

i'm using loveless and i'm getting some bugs in game.

1st i was getting an "missing borlndmm.dll" error.. i've just searched net for the dll. and solve this one :)

2nd After i have made changes in md1_1 script (second screen in the game), i get an "bug" (biggs keep running against wall and cloud not appears in screen, and the game stays that way no matters what u do.)
Tryed a lot of times to solve this, but no sucess.

Oh, and if u can make the text preview window same size as the game, (cosmo does it :o) ), i'll be a nice feature, becouse u need to see in game if the text is correctly inside the window.

if u can help...

Thanks

Rosemberg
Sorry about bad english

Thanks for you're suggests and reports !

I've forgotten to include this DLL in the archive. I'll do it.
About the window sizes, I will released a new version with the possibility to view and modify windows sizes (but I don't know when and I don't have all documentation I want about that).

Concerning the bug, I will examine this tomorrow.

(sorry for my bad english but it's late and I'm very tired xD).

Squall78 you shouldn't need to include this DLL (or any other Borland component) if you set the options for compilation to NOT use run time components.
This will make a bigger executable however, it does mean you won't need any DLL libraries (since the static library version of the DLL's are used instead).

In fact your distribution can be just an executable if you don't have any data files it needs.

Unfortunately it doesn't work.

These Borland DLLs are very old and can't be included in the EXE. The main functions of these DLLs are located in another DLL in Delphi 7 but this DLL doesn't containt some functions from the others :/.

They're not very "compatible" so I can't include them...

Hi !

Loveless 2.01 has been released !

Changes in 2.01 :
- a (big) bug has been fixed

You can download it here :
English version : http://stforever.free.fr/Projets/Loveless201ENG.zip
French version : http://stforever.free.fr/Projets/Loveless201FRA.zip

Thanks to UTK to report me this bug. :)

If you used Loveless 2.0, you must erase your modified flevel file and start with a new file.
I regret, but your modified file is maybe corrupted...

Loveless, is the best text editor for FF7, but if u want to make it totally perfetc and amazing, just add these 10 features:

1 - Text preview window size equal in game. Or better, resizeable window!
2 - Item, weapons, armor, materias etc. names and descritption editor, (like cosmo's internal editor)
3 - EXE and MENU editor, to make changes in menu, battle screen etc.
4 - Level background preview a little larger. Is too small...
5 - A tool for make patchs.
6 - Change the font of "Special Characters tool bar" for one more 'visible'.
7 - "Realtime" text preview, to see colors, and effects on preview!
8 - Spell check! LoL!!!!
9 - Group Scripts by category, location or anything else
10 - After all these, still free! :D

ok, ok, i know is almoust impossible to do these things, but i'm just dreaming a little!

And your program is already amazing!

Well, what impressing features.... lol
Thank you.

I answer to your "requests" :
1 - I will implement that in a future version (I will examine the project this week)
2 - I have developped a programm like "Internal Editor" from Cosmo. Its name is Teioh and I will make it available in a few time.
3 - I don't know if it's possible... If someone can give me some informations or docs, I want to :)
4 - You can click on the background preview to display it in full size. But I can add an option to resize the 'small' preview.
5 - A tool to make patch ? hmmm... I've tried to implement a system of text importation/exportation but I've encountered some problems. I'm working on this system but I won't make a "real" patch-system.
6 - You mean the font over the toolbar ? Well, I can't improve this.
7 - I would to do this ! But it was boring to code this part ^^'. I'll try to do it.
8 - huuu... I don't think spell check is important lol. Loveless is not Microsoft Word xD
9 - Yeah I agree with you that the level level list is not sorted conveniently. But I don't see how to code a good system...
10 - Of course Loveless still free :D

Really thanks for you suggestions ! :)

Great job ... I started some moths ago with translation of FF7 and when I found this program ... yeah ... that is what I need ... but :) everytime is here some "but"  ...  ;)

The biggest problem is size of windows ... if I don't know if text fit into box, i have to run Cosmo and test message there ... what about import sizes from Cosmo (Preview.idx) ? Not best way, but the quick one ...

Key shortcuts ... "next item", "prev item" (ctrl+dwn, ctr+up?) ... now, I have to click on one message, rewrite, then again click on next  ... boring job ... especially when i using notebook ;)

Multi-line find and replace. Sometimes some common text is on more rows and part of it is not unique enough, so then I can't use it.

Export of all text to textfiles ... and then ... ehmmm .... then import back ? A lot of levels have the same dialogs, so I am dreaming about time, when I don't have to write the same texts again and again or copy, paste and app switch madness - weeeeery slow and painfull :)

anyway even now it is very usefull ... thank you

Thank you for your suggests :)

About size of windows, I've planned to add this features : preview window in real size and capability to resize it !
About multiline replacing.... I haven't thought about this ! Nice idea !

About key shortcut, I didn't really understand : Next item = Next text ? or Next Level ?
But I can add this too :)

Eventually, about export/import, I had planned to add this feature but because of my code the import operation was really slow... but I'm working on it !

I'm very busy in this time... but I'm working on the project soon !

Thanks again ;)

With window sizing you have, of course, the added issue that one dialog can be used by multiple window calls. You may inadvertently end up screwing up the sizing of one window that needs to be a set width, just because it references the dialog where you've allowed the user to edit the window size for another window which references said same dialog. In this sense it's not a simple case of one window size for every dialog and you will find some caveats in editing them in this manner.

A small suggestion if you want to resize windows etc. etc. add infinitum.

Run a 'test' for the dialog, or more appropriately put Preview.
It would be good to check how the dialog behaves window resizing etc.
See Synergy Blades comments.

From my point of view the most important features that would make this an ultimate translating tool for ff7 are:

  • at first that multi-line search/replace as max suggested because sometimes you have to split the line in two because it won't fit in the original dialogue box... that would enourmously speed-up translation of those identical texts found on more levels.. you could replace whole texts not just one line
  • original window size preview as stated many times
  • that suggested key shortcut to jump to next text.. like I will translate one text and then by pressing a hot-key jump to next text etc. Much much faster and comfortable
  • categorize and sort the text types, for example if somebody wants to edit only speech texts that would be neat

Looking forward to use Loveless for translating my game.  :-D
Thank you so much!

Hi !

I'm writing a new version with some of these new features. I will post it on tomorrow or saturday I think.
And the next release I will try to implement window size previewer/modifier.

See you on tomorrow maybe :)

Br@v3h3@rt :

You mean "nivl_4" isn't it ?

I've tried to open it with Loveless (once from hard disk and another once from CD) and I've no problem  :|

If you try to open the ORIGINAL file, do you have this problem too ?

Your flevel.lgp file is it from the US version ?
