is there a way for the missing information in battle to be added back such as max HP?

So stuck now on the decision.

1 - Decide not to use tweaks and cheats and enhanced animation mods which mod exe, and cause crash.
2 - Use above mod's configure ff7_bc.exe  but then text layout i messed up as it adjusts font sizes and stuff.
3 - Do #2 but also install the reunion menu overhaul which the exe is designed for, text layout is fine, but I dont like the battle UI as it has less information than the default UI (doesnt show max HP).
4 - go back to old setup, but this doesnt give me new textures, and I think new textures are difficult to get working without 7th heaven since its considered obsolete without it.

The old school patcher can do things like enable all yeah on tifa fine via patching exe, no game crash.  But that isnt compatible with 7th heaven patched exe.

If I install the mod, then whenever the game hits a part the mod modifies, it instantly crashes with errors related to unable to read memory addresses.

I have added ff7.exe to DEP exception list.

any ideas?

If I set the alternative exe's so either ff7_bc or ff7_mo the crashes stop, however the game UI is all messed up, I am not using any of the mods that the guide states these exe's should be used.

Hi guys, I am installing textures via this tool, but I think I am going to have an issue in having these work as well as my custom music in ff7music, as I assume I will need to launch the game from the tool for the textures, but then the music wont work, if I launch the game from ff7music I will get the music but not the textures.  So I guess the question is, is there a ff7music to 7thheaven migration path for playlists?

Also how do I find info on each individual mod in the catalogue? the url's all point to the same master 7thheaven thread.

Tool doesnt even seem to work I have downloaded, installed, activated various mods but none having effect in game, I see the live mod folders have no live files placed in them, paths are set correct in settings.  I think I miss the days of manual modding :) things were simpler.

Hi guys, I last played this a fair few years back on win7, I still have the game files in place on my hdd with all my customisation's, but the game wont launch.

The opengl registry file is applied.

I get this showing in ff7music, suggesting its not trying to use the driver.

FF7 gave you a choice of what to do and had real effort placed into it.  FF13 was a dumbed down game for the masses.  FF7 may have had poor implementation of its battle system, but that battle system was infinitely more jrpg, and engaging than anything that came from 12 onwards.  With proper implementation, 7 could be far better than it was, with the same battle system.  7 also had a decent story and good pacing... not just a literal gauntlet play through.

dont worry I love ff7, but I hate ff13-3 and wanted to make the point ff13-3 is very different to ff13.



I'm waiting for my copy to arrive and interested in doing a Let's Play. Anyone aware of what's on with YT copyright strikes from SE part about this game? As I know they allow FFXIV: ARR but have no clue about XIII-3

I think its the publishers and media teaming up.

The media get exclusivity to videos, so ign etc. no copyright strikes, but individuals not allowed.
In return publishers get favourable reviews, lots of fake hype etc.



There's actually a good reason for this. Some players suck at the game and aren't gonna be getting the best ranks anyway, and this way they can at least take their time to think so they'll be able to finish the battle at all. It's a trade-off, and for players aiming for 5 stars in all battles it's not worth it, but for players that just want to get to the end it is.

funyn enough the slow mode allows me to get 5 stars when farming dark matter's from shalong gui's.  The reason is the target time is ridiculously high so slow wont take you over and that fight is all about timing, on normal speed I cant get everything done before the enemy starts all his heavy attacks, whilst on slow I was able to consistently farm them.  It may help on other high target time battle's as well such as long gui's and the tort's.  Plus it helps on eidolon battles.  However for normal main game battles yes 5 stars will be much harder to get on slow speed and its a more of a training mode, to help people to adapt.

Square have slowly been migrating to reaction time's battle systems for a while, look at all the quick time events in FFX.

FF13-3 is no way a sequel to FF13 in anything other than story.  Looking at the video its not the same battle system , they may claim it is but it isnt.

FF13 was like a fast paced version of FF7 ATB which allows queuing of multiple commands and that some commands have higher usage cost (multiple ATB bars).  With AI controlled allies.

It was certianly a shock to the system for turn based fans as myself however after I got used to the game it was still a good game.  Also surprisingly not much bugs considering how bad square are at releasing games with bugs.

FF13-2 copied FF13's battle system so a sequel but in my opinion a not as good game, down to 2 party members from 6 with a monster assisting, FMV's significantly reduced replaced with cheaper to make in game sequences.  Areas copied for low cost production.  Game balance completely messed up (way too easy compared to FF13 which was balanced very well.)

Now here is the thing, some may not admit this.  FF7 is a good game, however it suffers from a flaw which is common in many jrpg's which is it has many near useless abilities, how often in FF7 do you bother to confuse, sleep, slow enemies etc.  Or do you just hit with your hardest hit attack repeatedly to get through fights, eg. 4x cut, ultima, kotr.  FF13 is the first jrpg I played in a long time where spamming attack is not efficient.  You have to utilise enemy weaknesses to efficently kill them and boss fights were genuinly diffilcult without having to nerf yourself.  Of course it seems many casual people complained and FF13-2 reverted to type, so enemies with low HP counts and basically spamming attack works much better in FF13-2 than in FF13, but FF13-2 is still a reasonable game.

Funny enough I am not a big fan of FF10, I think that has a bad level up system (having to use all characters every battle if want to give them exp), also no normal stat increases.

The tales games in my opinion (as well as star ocean games) do not compare to FF13-3, the tales games still feel like a jrpg (action based jrpg) as you have a party still and not zoomed in.  Lightning returns FF13-3 looks like a action game with rpg elements, it seems square no longer want to be a jrpg developer.  Instead going for outstanding visuals and action to please western casual gamers. Withn 5 years it will be first person view for a FF game.

Turn based games can still work, think of lost oddysey, absolutely brilliant game.  The problem is now days profit is king, making a game that appeals to the masses is more interesting to publishers than making a great playing game for a niche market.

A remake of FF7 which has hard, ultra hard modes and a new game+ would be fantastic.  But it wont come.

I consider the speed square mini game broken, it requires a ridiculous amount of skill to get 5000 points and is a shooter in a turn based rpg so doesnt go with the gameflow.

It seems to mod a psn save file whilst preserving the ps3 signature isnt possible currently without special hardware, so I have a request to anyone who has this hardware.

If I upload a save file can the following things be changed?

Add umbrella
Add flayer (if its possible while I am still on disc 1)

I am struggling big time on it and my highest score isnt even close, 3400 with normal controller, 3800 with turbo fire.

Please anyone let me know if they can do this for me thanks, will pay for it as well.

I dont want a save file someone has made on a different playthru, I want to continue my own with just those 2 additions.

guys am I right this still cant edit PS3 saves for a normal PS3 thats not jailbroken?

Its easy to get the memory card onto my pc hdd, and back again so I am wondering what the problem is preventing it been possible?

eg. more modern games have save editors and dont need a CFW PS3.

or is this issue fixed now?

Wow this looks very nice.

Am I right certian parts of the graphics can be turned on and off? eg. I prefer original sounds and original battle menus but I do like the new character models and field graphics.

Also that I have heavily modded my game already and have my own custom balancing on bosses, stealing as well as using custom mp3's for music etc. How would this affect that?

Hi again everyone.

This is my 2nd playthru using aali's driver, my first playthru (on weaker system) using his older version was fine 0.7.1 version.  Using 0.7.9b  I have occasionaly seem framerate slowdowns and just now after casting kotr for the first time it severely slowed down as well as getting a 'glitch deffered draw overflow queue' message, the game hasnt crashed and still running.  gfx card is 8800GT not a weak laptop :)

I guess I need to try out the older shaders? the ones I found were the no light ones and about to test them as soon as I wonder my way to a save point.

old system with 0.7.1 fine on kotr

8800gt (same card)
core2duo 6420

new system with 0.7.9b slowdowns and severe on kotr.
8800gt
core i5 750

another difference is tho when I last played this on my desktop I think I was using XP as the OS and now am using windows 7 64bit.

ok some additional info.

the no light shaders make no difference and I am about to copy the new ones back.
I played with various settings and the one that fixed the issue was this one.
'fancy_transparency'. I dont see any noticeble drop in image quality tho with it off so maybe my card is already applying alpha blending?
also when it slows down my cpu isnt saturated its not even 5% utilised.

I just had my second crash today, I don't know if it's a driver thing or something else? It doesn't bother me much, thanks to the emergency save (that's a life saver since I'm at the end of the game where saving is not possible).

You're seeing the same crash as Chrysalis had a while ago.. I thought it was just his garden gnomes being upset, but apparently there's a real issue here. See if you can find a pattern to this problem. Are you using Barret with slash-all by any chance?

First of alll, thanks for taking a look! I didn't have Barret in my party, and as for a pattern, I didn't see one. Both my crashes happened after some battle in the Northern Crater. After loading the emergency save, I could finish the game without any problems. I don't know if it's relevant, but I did install a few mods: YAMP fix for framerate and transparent dialog boxes, and I also installed the NPC_Reconstruction_Project_for_FF7PC_0.6_mod. To sum it up, your driver worked great and I finally managed to finish this game without any glitches,except for the above mentioned two crashes at the end of the game.

I also have yamp frame rate limiter and transpert dialog box patches.

Aali I did fine a 2nd problem with my pc as well, it was failing memtest86 so I toned down the ram timings, this and the hdd swap and now I am getting no crashes at all again, so I think my crash wasnt your driver.  If you disagree I take your word for it :) bot no crashes again now so am happy.

ok guys sorry if this sounds dumb, but how do I edit enemy AI, I dont mean how do I use the app to change values  I mean how do I learn what each value does etc.

See I know in the game safer seph first move is wall followed by shadow flare, yet the attacks are listed in a completely different order in the editor.

This is what I want to achieve as an initial test.

Seph to heal himself probably with a full cure (capped to 30k hp on my limit config) every time he moves to flying position or to close position so twice every full cycle.
Seph to counter with either comet2 or ultima everytime attacked.
To make heartless angel be used when down to 66% hp instead of 25% hp.

well all time bars have to be full, unless its a pre emptive attack then usually the enemies get at least 1 turn in before you escape so there seems to be a added time penalty when escaping.

aali looks like it was hardware.

was web browsing and suddenly click bang click bang coming from an hdd.

I thought was my system hdd since the system was all but frozen and on reboot it took ages to get to the windows loading screen, but then the click bang stopped and windows runs normally except with 1 thing missing.  The drive my F: drive that had ff7 on is vanished. :( luckily the save in the one I put online is very recent but I have to repatch the game, I spent hours modding enemy stats and most of that is lost. Some intact on the laptop when I was playing on it but not much of it.  Will need to redo ff7music as well.  But it does seem the cause now wasnt the driver.

--edit-- off topic i know but so noone feels bad I have recovered my files the drive seems to be working fine in external caddy.

I am beggining to wonder if this is a hardware issue, I played through the same point fine this time, easy to retest since the special battle arena always repeats same enemies.

got to 93 hours playing time no crash then this it does seem wrong to think it could be software related.

Aali bad news :(

another crash this time when I am doing the special battle arena battles.  The screen was just bringing up that sea serpent type creature which I think you normally fight on the crashed plane in cargo room.

This crash2.rar also includes app.log and emergency save.  (found where it writes app.log now).

Troubleshooting / monitor going to standby whilst playing

Have an annoying problem recently, when playing ff7 my monitor goes into standby and I have to move the mouse to get it back out of standby.

I am playing with a usb gamepad and I am guessing for some reason my pc isnt recognising its activity as use.  But no idea why.
