Releases / Re: Dual-Font UI
« on: 2020-09-07 07:44:14 »
just made a thinner box border to add to this mod

Now I need your help to point out where things could be improved, or if there are bugs I didn't catch!

when fighting black mages in gizamaluke's grotto, most of the battle effects were skewed or offset in some way

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/285894248988016640/750204114629165106/FINAL_FANTASY_IX_2020-08-31_22-54-29.mp4

in this video what i'm talking about is most visible toward the end, where the enemy black mage attacks quina, but you can also see it when zidane uses a potion and when the enemy black mage uses fire

edit: i subbed the original p0data2.bin back in and the offsets still happened, so idk what the cause is

128
when you reinstall you have to delete from steam library, then actually go delete the FINAL FANTASY IX folder, before you redownload it

you guys do that?

Releases / [FF7PC] SYW "ArkTsukiVock" (v4) for Reunion
« on: 2020-08-30 21:48:10 »
This is Satsuki Yatoshi's mod ( http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=19204.0 ) arranged in the folder structure that Reunion uses,
so you can just drag one folder on top of another, and be done!  Comes with instructions to install, as well as fully uninstall, if needed.

*note that users should not use this .zip file with 7th Heaven mod manager, click the link above

Thank you, Satsuki, for allowing this.  I did no work on this mod other than arrange files to be loaded with Reunion, and write a readme.

Here is a link to donate to Satsuki (this mod's creator), if you enjoyed this mod: http://yatoshicom.free.fr/don.syw.html

downloads:
    https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/722186527504990209/961742140977860708/SatsukiYatoshi_SYW_Reunion-LZ4v1.torrent (requires torrent client)

support in this thread is for Reunion users trying to install this .zip file in Reunion

if the mod is loading correctly, and you have a question about how something looks, or see a visual bug with the mod, you should post in this thread:

You're supposed to quietly ask the person who made the change, not make wild and unfounded accusations in public.

these accusations are neither wild, nor unfounded accusations

its part of a ploy to not let new users know that reunion exists - and if anyone hasnt figured it out yet, i'm always gonna fight against that, because i think its wrong
people should be able to know everything that is out there and have options for as many configurations as possible, as easily as possible

that being said, my goal here is not to sabotage this mod - it is of the utmost quality

but that is why you are getting this response, this is a huge blow and its fueled by petty nonsense
so dont blame me for playing the same game

131
@Ori
You seems realy agressive for no reason.
Anyone can install this pack with reunion in an easy way (just need to convert to png and read reunion's readme file)

I remove the reunion feature for some raisons and nothing to do with dlpb
-I've make the full installer from zero in c# to avoid vb6 falses positive, so i checked and optimized the code, i've removed useless feature (reunion and iro compression level)
-I removed the iro compression feature because iro's compression is only usefull for distro otherwise it'll make the use of iro slower and as iro car be 7z for distro no use here.
-I removed reunion installer because:
1)you can install it from png with copy/paste files in the reunion folders
2)i can't auto-manage file replacement, witch mean that my files will overwrithe the existing one in reunion install folder or the the renuion's one will remains and avoid my file from being used
3)as i don't use reunion myself i wont be able to do the tests needed if a bug occurs
>>So as there's no safe way to auto-install with reunion, i kept the option to convert dds to png and anyone can use use safelly the converted files with reunion

So if one day reunion provide a "safe way" i can use to make my mods work without the risk of overwriting existing installed reunion mods i'll probably get the option back.

perhaps i did go a tad overboard, but i think its just as unfair to say i have absolutely no reason

the timing of this feature removal is suspicious, what else am i supposed to think?

and i do realize this can still be used with reunion, but its quite complicated, even for moderately computer literate people... i had to use a guide to get everything right
now imagine trying to walk multiple people through this process on a regular basis who are not very computer savvy, just scroll through the last 2 pages of this thread - many people are trying to install this with reunion

i don't understand what was wrong with the old method of placing all your files in GLOBAL, the only thing it overwrites is the world map files, and whether yours gets used or the one inside reunion isnt going to be a big deal

as i said in my previous rant, this really screws over the average person just trying to play this game with these 2 mods working together, causing much frustration, when it used to be done with a click of a button
at the very least you could have kept a link up for the old version, mods should be about letting everyone play it (or at least as many as possible)

132
i've been testing p0tat02.bin  :-D  and everything looks great so far, the skies of battle match how great the skies of the fields are

i've found a different bug that is unrelated, during festival of the hunt the "participant leads with 30 points" dialogue box is placed over the timer, so you can only see the time in battle or in a menu

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/285894248988016640/748790646952689784/FF9_2020-08-28_01-05-18.png

edit: hopefully you dont mind some constructive criticism, i'm not a fan of the mountains in the world map

but so far IMO Moguri 8.2 is just as large of a leap forward from moguri 7 as moguri 7 was to the vanilla game, its THAT good... i'm mesmerized by the skies
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/285894248988016640/748818704107700314/FF9_2020-08-27_16-06-45.png

that's the only reason i bring up the mountains - (once again IMO) they are not on par with the rest of the mod

and still no battle-related glitches that i've noticed

i've been working hard at making the perfect reshade settings: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/285894248988016640/748826735637692416/FINAL_FANTASY_IX_-_Map__2950_Loc__945_Name__Chocobos_Forest_2020-08-28_03-40-19.mp4
little more tweaking and i'll edit this with the .ini

133
your link isnt working, you gotta change the permissions on it to anybody

the install with reunion button is on the lower-right side, if you are getting the installer to work right

edit: looks like satsuki removed the 'install with reunion' feature out of spite (argument with reunion's creator)

wtf?

in the meantime if anyone is having trouble installing this in reunion, PM me (or go to FF7.live and click the discord link) and i'll walk you through it

some weak-ass tea to remove that feature - there are dozens of less pc-savvy people who can no longer figure out how to get this working... this does nothing to hurt dlpb, he doesnt give a f***, just hurts regular working folk that are trying to kick back and play this game the way they want... oh well, just another thing to draw people to reunion's discord

its possible (but not ideal) to go back to the vanilla font, but implementing a new font is a lot of work

also going back to the vanilla font will break a thing or two, for instance you will no longer be able to use the controller button mod with it for now (the creator of enhanced stock UI is currently working on that mod for the vanilla font spacing)

the UI has tons of (hext) code in it that changes the windows to make the font work (among other things), so you'll have to delete the font files, chunk1 files (also alters dialogue windows, in a different way than the hext code), remove all hext code that breaks the vanilla font, then repackage the .iro...

EZ Peezy right?  and after all that there STILL might be something i'm overlooking that you might have to deal with  ;D

Hi satsuki, thank you so much for the mod it looks great. However I've got one problem. I can load it alright with the Reunion mod, but everytime I open the game, being in fullscreen mode or not, the in-game screen is always oversized comparing to the windowed screen and I don't know if it's because of the Reunion configuration or not because I've tried to change it as much as I can and it's still like that.

Can you recommmend any way to fix this? Thanks!

go to your The_Reunion folder and find options.ini, right click it and hit edit

full_screen = y
window_x = 0
window_y = 0
window_width = 1920
window_height = 1080
preserve_aspect = y

where i have the 1920 and 1080, change those to your desktop resolution and see if that fixes it
(if your resolution happens to be 1920x1080 then you can just use those exact values)

if you happen to have more problems with this, you should go to ff7.live and click the link to join our discord, since this is a reunion config issue and has nothing to do with satsuki's mod

edit: kudos Rumbah

another decent update to version b
 -improved spacing on closed parenthesis
-fixed and cleaned up countless cursor misalignments
-imported some fixes and tweaks from DLPB's Menu Overhaul

nice work Ori.

thanks man! at the end of the day, its just nice to have more options for how you want your game to look, IMO

this is my first crack at modding any game, and i am finding that seeing my work inside of one of my favorite games of all-time feels quite surreal

Does anyone know any workaround for the d-pad/shoulders not working on a DS4?

So far, from scattered internet references I've tried:

1. Disabling every potential overlay (Steam, GeForce, Discord, etc) -- Result: No effect
2. Disabling Analog Support in the .ini file -- Result: Depends (see below), but typically no effect
3. Unplugging controller and plugging it in after the game has started -- Result: Game never detects controller unless it was plugged in before launch (so the controller doesn't work at all)
4. Enable DS4 support in Steam/use "forced on" in the per-game settings -- Result: If (and only if) I disable analog support in the .ini, this enables d-pad provided I rebind the d-pad to stick directions via steam controller configuration BUT the game double reads inputs from other buttons. If analog support is enabled this has no effect except the face buttons are scrambled to incorrect locations (e.g. X becomes Square, Circle becomes X etc). Technically the face button scramble happens if analog support is disabled too, but the double button read means it will read one version of the button immediately followed by the incorrect version.

Interestingly, even if I disable analog support in the .ini, the analog stick still works fine and absolutely nothing changes about the controller behavior.

E: It seems like the buttons are still slightly scrambled with steam controller stuff off. It swaps Square and Circle (X and B), enabling Steam support on will scramble them further. Interestingly, enabling vibration in the in-game config will also scramble the buttons to the steam support variant as opposed to the regular scramble for... some reason?

E: Further testing -- without Moguri installed I get the "walk left" issue, and the buttons are scrambled as if I had steam controller support on. Weirdly, the shoulder buttons don't work with vanilla, but the D-pad partially works. Left/Right are registered as up/down, and up/down seem functionless.

http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=19225.msg279563#msg279563

give that a try for the dpad, if it works (and it should) you can set the shoulder buttons to the keyboard equivalent yourself pretty easily

8.2 is actually the first time i've used a moguri launcher and had everything working... nicely done

stoked for the scaled battle ui and world map, i had neither last time i played through

also that "dagger can't concerntrate" typo in memoria.ini persisted for like 5 years, lmao,  thanks albeoris for fixing that!

I've installed the new version and I'm curios about some of the cheat options that are turned on as default. Like "Speed Mode" and "No Random Battles" what exactly do they? Does "No Random Battles' mean that I wont have random encounters while traveling the world? Wouldnt that ruin the game since I wont really level up anymore? Or will I now see the enemies before the encounter starts?

both of those cheats have toggle keys, so you can turn them on when you want them, or keep them off and never turn them on at all

141
i'm kind of a weirdo that likes to hide Cloud behind stuff and take screenshots of the fields, thought i'd share some of these if anyone is wondering what the fields will look like with this mod
note that some of these may also be enhanced with reshade (again, these are all in-game field files... not part of a FMV)

this first one is my desktop background, and probably will be for life (or until we can upscale to 4k) :P

very large update to the .iro of version b: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1pYUTSXgZBDykDAaY5GhUmDAdILdFSimE/view?usp=sharing

the changelog is above, here are some screenshots showcasing the fixes:

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/285894248988016640/743589552324608080/unknown.png
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/285894248988016640/743614639459401808/unknown.png

https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/285894248988016640/743616180434108486/unknown.png
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/285894248988016640/743617301718368276/unknown.png

so this mod has 2 versions and both with 2 different fonts, and i'm also maintaining both of these versions for reunion (which requires different hext codes and spacing, in many cases)
so basically, 4 versions of this mod right now  :?  (when i'm done the 7h compatible versions will all be in one, configurable .iro file)

right now this .iro of version b has seen the most polishing by far

also, there is no .lgp files nor chunks in these mods to maintain maximum compatibility

« on: 2020-08-11 00:59:35 »
You can find the password in the readme

ah, skipped over that part

i guess i'm the numbnuts... testing this

edit:  worked 1st try, nicely done, satsuki's speedhack sadly doesnt work for me, 7h gives an error when i launch with it on so i havent been able to speed hack... until now  :P

2nd edit: my only small gripe is the small increments f10 and f12 move the slider, a few times i've found myself needing to tap one of those keys 10+ times
also doesnt need to go x10, the buttons have a hard time registering after 7x or so

IMO would be better if you tapped each way 3 times, for 2x, 4x, and 6x ( or 3x, 6x, 9x if you dont want to decrease the amount of speed/slowdown as much )
that way the most you need to hit it is 6 times and usually should be 2-3

ESUI controller addon I plan to rename to vanilla gameplay controller addon (or something similar to indicate its for stock gameplay), and add an option to work on zomiplay font (as its popular), if your font spacing is similar (and icons in same place on font palletes) it should then work on your font as well.

thats awesome!

zomiplay is indeed great, it was really the first HQ font that was available for r06... and most of my work is built on top of it

version 1 in the original post does indeed have identical spacing and controller button placement

EDIT:  this version b update is coming soon, i keep testing and keep finding other things that need tweaked
when i finish the update on the iro of version b, it will be largely issue-free, the changelog will actually have to be condensed there are so many

-pause will be centered in the window
-colored texts fixed
-better alignment on inventory icons
-spacing on capital letters fixed for ALL CAPS TEXT
-spacing improved on numbers and symbols
-many punctuation fixes and tweaks, including fixing some game dialogue errors (game uses wrong set of single or double quotes in many places)
-most importantly... updated the credits, thanks everyone

eventually this will be one mod you can configure all the options you want, but i'm still actively working on implementing new things, so merging to one .iro will come later as this UI is still very much in a beta state... perhaps even alpha, i've done 100% of the testing and bug fixing myself

things i'm working on:
-creating light colored borders and dark font versions
-implementing my own battle menu alignment
-getting ESUI controller buttons add-on to work with DFUI

edit: crap, forgot to resave the colored fonts after i adjusted the spacing, so some config texts are a little off, this has already been fixed along with an issue with the pause window in battle, when i release the update i'll erase this and add a changelog

147
I just tried playing vanilla but I get the whole "ZidaneZidane" "ViviVivi" etc error

this is caused by memoria, rather than moguri, moguri comes packaged with it and relies on it, it can be fixed with a save editor

and my controller is completely borked and the controls don't make any sense. For example, left on the analog stick steers me right. Any idea how to fix this so I can play FF9 in the meantime?

the controller config has been wonky with the pc port since day 1, to get everything right i have to use joy2key and map the buttons to keyboard equivalents

for some reason i have even MORE issues with ds4, it likes to move your character automatically when you boot the game sometimes

148
It works with the PC version too.

well i'll be damned... it does work for pc

i couldnt get v3b to work, gave me exception errors, but v2_1 worked like a charm

when i release this .iro you will be credited as a co-author of the fonts and i will also credit lasyan3 and his hack7 tool

the fonts i'm releasing are already done (with the exception of the spacing, as said in OP):

my UI mod is for the PC version, this tool works on the Playstation version only then?

still though, never thought about trying to mod the PS1 version (the version i grew up on) only because i thought it would be too hard

i'll check this out, thanks man

150
i have successfully implemented 2 different monospaced fonts in reunion, because it does away with window.bin and uses a hext file template
to change the font spacing

however, to do this for the vanilla game (and therefore to be able to release my fonts for 7h) i cant use hext

i've been told i need to uncompress window.bin, then edit the font spacing portion, and recompress it

if anyone can walk me through this process (i'm in no hurry, either... unless you are),
i will add you as a co-author to every font sheet i implement, and in addition i will also credit you as being the super-badass that you undoubtedly are
