Very cool Kela51. Thank you for the epic contribution. I'm glad to see FFVII getting better and better.

I had the same problem. When I had installed FF7, I had a USB headset connected and chose that as the primary sound device. After unplugging the headset and restarting FF7, FF7 wouldn't start.

Just like what Aali said, you have to reconfigure your sound device. Run the EXE as Administrator though, if you are running FF7 under Windows 7, or else the settings will not be saved.

So basically I have to reconfigure the sound everytime I want to switch from headphones to speakers, or if happen to change the USB slot of the headset.

I'll keep my fingers crossed. Thanks for the quick response.

This is in no way an attempt to rush you with this project, but is there a chance of "R04" being released before the end of the month so that it can be included in the next bootleg configurator?

I have Half Life 2 in an orange box collection disk for PC. i didn't know it required steam to play since I haven't installed it yet... When I played HL1 back in my old days it didn't need any of these crap that all new age piece of sh*t are nowadays require on line connection and crap...

I think Steam is an awesome piece of software to be honest. Normally, I would be against any form of DRM when there are other digital alternatives (GOG for example).

I have gotten to the point that I won't buy a game unless there is a Steam version. If there isn't a Steam version, I wait until it comes out on Steam before I even allow myself to play it. FF7 and Minecraft are a few exceptions where I spent the money even though they probably won't release a Steam version. However, I still put forth the effort in attaching it as a Shortcut in Steam; so that my friends can see "Saftle is now playing Final Fantasy VII."

I used to pirate games. Steam is the only thing that won me over and they did a great job in doing so. I wait until I have the money to buy games on Steam now, or while waiting, the game ends up going on sale for 50%-80% off through Steam.

The Community, Steam Workshop, Voice Chat etc, are also other reasons why I won't ever switch back to pirating or any other digital platform.

Also, you do not need to be online. Only one time is needed to authenticate, and then you can just switch it to offline mode.

I reinstalled everything but now when I get into a battle the Limit and Wait bar are positioned over the character's name and the HP and  MP numbers are in the wrong position. I've tried 2 fresh installs and I still get the same thing.

Try doing a clean install using the tips that I listed here. http://forums.qhimm.com/index.php?topic=12008.msg182927#msg182927

I got it to work, thanks a ton. Another question though, I'm at the part where I save Aerith and get Red. Is it normal that the boss at this part(Sample:H0512) was changed into a dog-like creature? Are there any other bosses that have changed?

edit1: Actually a whole lot of bosses around this part seem to be switched around. When I was suppose to fight Rufus I fought both the Machinegun elevator boss and Sample:H0152. Could this be one of the mods I have installed? It seems to big to not be scripted this way. edit2: I just fought Rufus on the bridge on my way out of Midgar. It seems as though I'm 1 boss behind what I should be. Anyone know what could be causing this?

This is a bug in the current version of the Bootleg Configurator. Reinstall without mode switching fixed it for me. Just choose the original game mode. By the way, I beat that boss and it was hard as hell. After beating him I looked up the fight on Youtube thinking that I was a noob. It was a boss from the hardcore mode that somehow gets mixed in.

Be sure to do a clean install. Back up your save file. Uninstall FF7Music and FF7 from the Control Panel in that order. Reinstall FF7 and afterwards redo the bootleg configurator.

I've tried, what, six times now to install this silly thing and I get the exact same results, whether or not it's on its default path, I set the config to safe mode, or whatever. I'm disappointed since I REALLY WANT TO PLAY WITH THIS PATCHER.

I can help if you want. I've literally installed FF7and Bootleg around 20 times this week, trying out different combinations of mods and installing it for friends.

I would make a video using Cam Studio (free). I would record the entire installation, starting with installing FF7, the bootleg configuration throughout all the tabs, list of mods showing all being green/yellow, the bootleg patch process up until the end, and the configuration being setup within the Bootloader itself after the installation.

Then you can compress it in a 7zip file (it compresses Camstudio videos very well) and upload it wherever. Mediafire for example.

Here are also a few tips that helped me.

1. Before the installation, set the setup.exe, under properties, in the compatibility tab to: WIN XP SP2, and set it to "Run as Administrator"
2. You already said that you installed it under G:\Games\ff7, which is good since it won't be installed in any Windows created directory.
3. Before launching Bootleg, be sure to set Bootleg.exe AND BFE.exe to run as administrator (also in the compatibility tab under properties).
4. After Launching Bootloader, and clicking "HDR Settings" (noticed that your graphics card can easily handle this). Change the resolution to your native windows resolution and then hit "Write CFG"

Here are also a few bugs that I've read that could possibly cause problems. I'm not sure that it could cause problems in your scenario though.

1. Installing Multi Game Modes can cause problems. I personally ended up just playing it on Normal, but ended up getting at least one Hardcore fight oddly enough.
2. If you are using the multi-part Facepalmer.zip and opened BFE.exe in more than one Windows session before installing Bootleg Configurator, Facepalmer may not correctly get installed.

Also, just to be safe.

1. Install the newest NVidia Driver in Clean Mode, so that your old NVidia driver gets uninstalled rather than just replaced.
2. Delete all Codecs on your machine (not sure if that can cause conflicts with FF7, however who needs codecs anymore when there is VLC or MPC available)

I hope this helps.

Edit: Added a few more tips.

I am relatively new to the FF7 modding scene and to this site, however I thought I'd say that that this project is outstanding so far.

Even though I beat FF7 nearly 13 years ago, I already notice so many changes since playing it then. The original English translation was definitely lacking. It wasn't even the grammar that really bugged me. It was more along the lines of just being confusing at times with how they chose to translate it.

Thank you for this project and I cannot wait for new updates. This is my first time playing FF7 in 13 years and your project has greatly enhanced the experience. I am also thankful to all those that have contributed.

Since others are posting bugs that have been encountered. I figured I would also mention a few that I've found. Below is my saved profile in the bootleg configurator. I'm also playing the game on game mode: "Normal"

1. The field graphics don't seem to be replaced in two areas so far. Sadly I didn't get a screenshot of the second area. But I do have one of the first.

First Area: http://i.imgur.com/ak3ZO.png

Second Area: SPOILER: When the plate is about to fall on Sector 7, and you have to go up the tower.

2. For some reason if a random battle occurs in the area where I'm at now (Screenshot: http://imgur.com/967uC), ff7 will crash. I have to safely bring the group to the elevator without getting into a battle or else it crashes.  SPOILER: This is right after talking with Hojo, and then the two groups split up. I am now in control of Aerith's group. Game save and crash are uploaded here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/3jhkhci0bcp6v70/ff7crash.zip

My bootleg Config profile is here:

Also, the installation itself shouldn't have anything to do with these problems. I don't think so anyways.

- I installed  ff7 into D:\ff7 as Administrator
- Compatibility Mode was Win XP SP2
- Bootleg.exe and BFE were both set to run as Administrator.
- BFE was only opened once during the same Windows Session (to avoid the Facepalmer multi windows session bug)

I hope this helps to diagnose the problems.

Great job Pitbrat, and keep up the awesome work. Haven't been this hooked to a video game in a long time. (Beat ff7 nearly 13 years ago)

Just registered for the forums to say thanks for this great auto installation tool, and thanks to all the mod creators.

I have a question. I'm going through Bootleg, and I'm just wondering if there's a list with an explanation of what all the mods do. For example, when I check "Sense Fix" what does that do? Or "Script Fixes," or the Felix Style Menu ,"Coloured Items" etc.? I tried to go through each mods Qhimm forum pages, but some don't say what their mod does or I couldn't find the information.

Just hover over the check boxes, and it'll display what they do.
