B******* Guide to FINAL FANTASY
« on: 2012-03-15 03:05:48 »
Speaking of the devil... I found this quick, funny and entertaining exposition about game history.

My english level make that some parts of these british guys words, get away from my understanding. I want to understand it completely. Subtitles would make the definitive solution for me but they're not available anywhere like you can see.

I publish this here for two reasons:

1) To see if somebody would like to pleeeease!!, lend me a little hand with the missing pieces of the puzzle, if is not a bother of course.
= E

2) And of course, to share the videos with all of you, FF partners. ^_^

Here is what I've manage to caught 'til the moment hearing and transcribing (in case of somebody has the kindness of helping me). Didn't posted the second part because I have planned to work in it one of these days, only a few minutes ago I finished of writing all the texts below:

PART 1 UPDATED... [25/03/2012]

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:03,180
Hey, folks. Welcome to the latest
GameSpot ----- Guide.

2
00:00:03,180 --> 00:00:05,280
A quick announcement
before we get started:

3
00:00:05,280 --> 00:00:08,720
Unfortunately we're going to have
to change the name of the series,

4
00:00:08,720 --> 00:00:13,090
because somebody else owns the term
[---guide---bluff---] and...

5
00:00:13,170 --> 00:00:15,010
anything associated with it.

6
00:00:15,010 --> 00:00:18,870
It hasn't any easy, but I've come up
with a couple myself and,

7
00:00:18,870 --> 00:00:22,070
I just wanted to sort of...
test them out on you guys.

8
00:00:22,220 --> 00:00:25,950
The hardest part's been trying to think of
a name that hasn't already been taken.

9
00:00:25,950 --> 00:00:28,630
But I'm just gonna throw
them out there and,

10
00:00:28,630 --> 00:00:31,020
you guys can can let me know
of you think, that would be great.

11
00:00:31,020 --> 00:00:32,440
«You 'bluffs' Tube».

12
00:00:32,440 --> 00:00:35,070
«Google's Guides to
Games for Dummies».

13
00:00:35,070 --> 00:00:38,670
«Prince the Artist formerly
known as Bluffers Guy».

14
00:00:38,670 --> 00:00:40,670
«iBluff».
Small one...

15
00:00:40,670 --> 00:00:44,110
«Call of Bluff Modern Guidefare 3».

16
00:00:44,210 --> 00:00:46,110
And «Edge».

17
00:00:46,140 --> 00:00:49,240
Any keepers in dash?
We're open to suggestions if not.

18
00:00:49,240 --> 00:00:51,760
Honestly, we're getting kind of
desperate at this stage.

19
00:00:51,760 --> 00:00:54,030
If you have any idea, please,
stick them in the comments below

20
00:00:54,030 --> 00:00:56,300
or feel free to
'tweet-face' me directly.

21
00:00:56,500 --> 00:01:00,020
In the meantime though here's a...
'something' to Final Fantasy.

22
00:01:00,020 --> 00:01:03,990
Is incredibly long because there are
over 2 billion of Final Fantasy games.

23
00:01:03,990 --> 00:01:06,830
In fact we had to split it
into two spearate videos.

24
00:01:06,870 --> 00:01:09,570
The second of which will be available
on friday 3.

25
00:01:09,800 --> 00:01:13,290
Some of you'll, no doubt, think
this is some sort of 'evil' GameSpot plot,

26
00:01:13,290 --> 00:01:16,080
to make sure we get twice as
many views on our videos but,

27
00:01:16,080 --> 00:01:18,780
honestly, I can think in a lot
easier way to doing that thing,

28
00:01:18,780 --> 00:01:22,490
that having to sit through dozens of
hours of Final Fantasy footage.

29
00:01:22,490 --> 00:01:25,080
I gotta know...
Taking out my junk?

30
00:01:26,010 --> 00:01:27,870
Oh, maybe that would have
the opposite effect.

31
00:01:27,870 --> 00:01:29,570
I guess we'll find out next week.

32
00:01:29,570 --> 00:01:32,310
In the meantime, here is
something about Final Fantasy.

33
00:01:32,310 --> 00:01:33,390
Enjoy!

34
00:01:34,700 --> 00:01:37,480
You asked for, folks:
Final Fantasy.

35
00:01:37,480 --> 00:01:39,490
Except it wasn't really final,
now was it?

36
00:01:39,490 --> 00:01:41,630
Is like that movie,
'The Neverending Story'.

37
00:01:41,630 --> 00:01:43,520
I spent 7.49 on the BluRay.

38
00:01:43,520 --> 00:01:46,120
Bloody thing ended after an hour
and forty two minutes.

39
00:01:46,120 --> 00:01:48,220
Hi, yeah... I ordered a copy of
'The Neverending Story'

40
00:01:48,220 --> 00:01:50,790
of you guys but it ended
in like... two hours

41
00:01:50,790 --> 00:01:52,790
just wondering, is it like a fault
or something?

42
00:01:52,790 --> 00:01:55,300
Sorry Sir, I'm not following.
Did your disc arrive broken?

43
00:01:55,300 --> 00:01:58,610
No, no... is working. It just ended.
There's no more story.

44
00:01:58,800 --> 00:02:02,080
Can I get a refund or something?
Or like a replacement?

45
00:02:02,080 --> 00:02:04,760
Do you have any copies of that
'Final Destination' movie?

46
00:02:04,760 --> 00:02:07,150
Which one, sir? There are 5
'Final Destination' movies?

47
00:02:08,640 --> 00:02:12,130
Well, Final Fantasy is guilty of
this black and false advertising too.

48
00:02:12,130 --> 00:02:14,810
Final?  They only went to make
13 bloody sequels.

49
00:02:14,810 --> 00:02:16,980
And then they made a bunch
of sequels for the sequels.

50
00:02:16,980 --> 00:02:20,190
Next year, they'll probably release
Final Fantasy XIII-2.

51
00:02:20,280 --> 00:02:21,070
2...

52
00:02:21,070 --> 00:02:23,430
I consider myself
a well first gamer but...

53
00:02:23,430 --> 00:02:25,250
I've just never been into RPGs.

54
00:02:25,250 --> 00:02:26,490
I'm on the shame to admit it

55
00:02:26,490 --> 00:02:28,740
but I never actually played
a Final Fantasy game.

56
00:02:28,740 --> 00:02:31,900
I know about Cloud and the chocobos
and I've seen the movies but...

57
00:02:31,900 --> 00:02:35,400
the style and gameplay of the series
just never appealed to me.

58
00:02:35,400 --> 00:02:37,400
So I'm gonna need a lot
of help on this one.

59
00:02:37,400 --> 00:02:39,570
We need an expert.
And who better to help

60
00:02:39,570 --> 00:02:41,220
than the GameSpot staff member

61
00:02:41,220 --> 00:02:43,850
who most looks like a
Final Fantasy character.

62
00:02:43,850 --> 00:02:45,460
No, no, no...
the other one.

63
00:02:45,460 --> 00:02:48,130
So... tell me, mate.
What's a Final Fantasy?

64
00:02:48,130 --> 00:02:51,190
Well, is a story full of
mistery, intrigue,

65
00:02:51,270 --> 00:02:53,720
and lots of kids with
spikey-head.

66
00:02:53,720 --> 00:02:56,190
Let me take you back to 1987.

67
00:02:56,260 --> 00:02:58,780
Three man in a baby (???)
(?????),

68
00:02:58,780 --> 00:03:02,850
people (???) (?????)
(????????) rebuild the city,

69
00:03:02,850 --> 00:03:04,300
in somewhere on Japan,

70
00:03:04,300 --> 00:03:08,040
a new videogame series was about
to take the world by storm.

71
00:03:08,260 --> 00:03:11,120
That series was of course,
Final Fantasy.

72
00:03:11,120 --> 00:03:13,120
Created by Hironobu Sakaguchi,

73
00:03:13,120 --> 00:03:15,120
and developed by Square
for the NES,

74
00:03:15,120 --> 00:03:17,730
it brought the role playing
game to the masses.

75
00:03:17,730 --> 00:03:21,400
Becoming in one of the most influential
titles in the history of videogames.

76
00:03:21,400 --> 00:03:23,680
Making spikey-head,
massive swords,

77
00:03:23,680 --> 00:03:25,930
and western looking
ancient people,

78
00:03:25,930 --> 00:03:28,220
or is that ancient looking
western people,

79
00:03:28,220 --> 00:03:30,220
part of the public consciousness.

80
00:03:30,220 --> 00:03:33,290
Many of the (???) they made
into the first Final Fantasy,

81
00:03:33,290 --> 00:03:35,250
came from RPGs (???).

82
00:03:35,250 --> 00:03:37,010
Dungeon crawl is like Wizardry,

83
00:03:37,010 --> 00:03:38,720
ta (??????????????????????????),

84
00:03:38,720 --> 00:03:42,570
and yes, even legendary
(????), Dungeons & Dragons.

85
00:03:42,570 --> 00:03:45,550
Final Fantasy took those ideas
and created a game

86
00:03:45,550 --> 00:03:46,900
on a grand scale.

87
00:03:46,900 --> 00:03:49,850
There was turn-based combats,
a huge map to explore,

88
00:03:49,850 --> 00:03:52,570
and airships, towns,
dungeons, a magic system,

89
00:03:52,570 --> 00:03:54,260
a leveling system,
(???)quests,

90
00:03:54,260 --> 00:03:56,260
incredible visuals for the time.

91
00:03:56,260 --> 00:03:59,720
And the exploring plots
(???????????????????),

92
00:03:59,720 --> 00:04:02,160
to expand the limits
of space and time.

93
00:04:02,160 --> 00:04:04,920
Sure, it still was in the
most (???) games,

94
00:04:04,920 --> 00:04:07,950
and ended up (????)
(???) towards (???).

95
00:04:07,950 --> 00:04:11,020
But, its influence on videogames
is unquestionable.

96
00:04:11,020 --> 00:04:13,580
And the fact that it was made
by just 7 people,

97
00:04:13,580 --> 00:04:15,180
(????) the more impressive.

98
00:04:15,180 --> 00:04:16,660
Well, I was impressed actually.

99
00:04:16,660 --> 00:04:19,180
Final Fantasy II is next, right?
That's the 'sequel'?

100
00:04:19,180 --> 00:04:20,550
Well... so so.

101
00:04:20,550 --> 00:04:22,500
It is one thing we (???) by now.

102
00:04:22,500 --> 00:04:25,390
Is the videogame titles
(????) make any sense.

103
00:04:25,390 --> 00:04:26,710
A (????????)

104
00:04:26,710 --> 00:04:29,190
In any case, II did introduce
some elements

105
00:04:29,190 --> 00:04:31,330
that will become staples
of the series:

106
00:04:31,330 --> 00:04:34,090
namely recurring character Cid,
and chocobos,

107
00:04:34,090 --> 00:04:36,410
which associated like a cross
between a baby chicken,

108
00:04:36,410 --> 00:04:38,580
and an ostrich (???).

109
00:04:38,720 --> 00:04:40,520
Ahh!!
What the f&%# is that?!

110
00:04:40,520 --> 00:04:41,630
There we go...

111
00:04:41,630 --> 00:04:43,240
The game is pretty good as well.

112
00:04:43,240 --> 00:04:45,620
II featured an epic tale
of empire invasion

113
00:04:45,620 --> 00:04:47,620
and also a (?????) system,

114
00:04:47,620 --> 00:04:50,120
(???) activity-based system.

115
00:04:50,120 --> 00:04:54,360
III introduced the world of summons
as of Shiva, Ifrit and Odin,

116
00:04:54,360 --> 00:04:56,820
All of which will become
staples of the series.

117
00:04:56,820 --> 00:04:59,680
III also introduced a new
job change system.

118
00:04:59,680 --> 00:05:02,310
Well... let you switch job
rows for your characters,

119
00:05:02,310 --> 00:05:05,400
giving you access to special
commands like steal for thief,

120
00:05:05,400 --> 00:05:07,010
or jump for dragon.

121
00:05:07,010 --> 00:05:10,010
A (????) different to the
Final Fantasy II and III

122
00:05:10,010 --> 00:05:12,420
you remember in the US,
don't worry...

123
00:05:12,420 --> 00:05:14,970
(????????) developed
(???) of the crazys.

124
00:05:14,970 --> 00:05:19,770
The original FF II and III went actually
ever released out sold of Japan,

125
00:05:19,770 --> 00:05:22,310
but the subsequent FF IV was.

126
00:05:22,310 --> 00:05:27,000
To avoid confusion, FF IV was
actually named II in the US.

127
00:05:27,000 --> 00:05:29,810
Final Fantasy V never met
the States at all,

128
00:05:29,810 --> 00:05:33,250
but Final Fantasy VI did,
which they numbered III.

129
00:05:33,770 --> 00:05:35,750
Mmm... my brain hurts.

130
00:05:35,750 --> 00:05:38,260
Just wait (????) two sequels.

131
00:05:38,260 --> 00:05:40,180
How am I supossed to (??)
this in the right order.

132
00:05:40,180 --> 00:05:42,180
I better mess (?????)
clip already.

133
00:05:42,180 --> 00:05:43,660
No, (????), probably,
but,

134
00:05:43,660 --> 00:05:45,460
don't worry,
we're not done yet.

135
00:05:45,460 --> 00:05:47,580
Final Fantasy IV was
the first in the series

136
00:05:47,580 --> 00:05:49,390
to make its way onto the SNES,

137
00:05:49,390 --> 00:05:50,700
at least in Japan.

138
00:05:50,700 --> 00:05:53,780
It was also the first introducing
the active time battle system,

139
00:05:53,780 --> 00:05:56,690
which (????) commands,

140
00:05:56,690 --> 00:05:59,290
making battles more exciting
than ever before.

141
00:05:59,290 --> 00:06:03,420
So exciting in fact, that it was
used for the next five FF games.

142
00:06:03,420 --> 00:06:05,240
It was also proclaimed for its score,

143
00:06:05,240 --> 00:06:07,590
which is written by composer
Nobuo Uematsu.

144
00:06:07,590 --> 00:06:11,210
His work in subscreen games (???)
worldwide critical acclaimed.

145
00:06:11,210 --> 00:06:14,200
Final Fantasy V, another
Japan-only release.

146
00:06:14,200 --> 00:06:17,730
Continued the series success
selling over 2 million copies,

147
00:06:17,730 --> 00:06:20,890
and earning praise for the depth
of its character customizations,

148
00:06:20,890 --> 00:06:22,710
(?????) job system.

149
00:06:22,710 --> 00:06:25,600
The next game on the series
did see a worldwide release,

150
00:06:25,600 --> 00:06:27,380
and boy was it good...

151
00:06:27,380 --> 00:06:30,620
Final Fantasy VI
hit the SNES in 1994.

152
00:06:30,650 --> 00:06:33,230
And was met with
unanimous critical acclaim.

153
00:06:33,230 --> 00:06:35,370
Is considered (??) one of
the most memorable

154
00:06:35,370 --> 00:06:37,720
and emotionally
involved plots ever,

155
00:06:37,720 --> 00:06:40,060
for live incredible depth
and realism.

156
00:06:40,060 --> 00:06:42,880
A (?????????????)
of the series.

157
00:06:42,880 --> 00:06:45,560
It was Final Fantasy
turned up to eleven.

158
00:06:45,560 --> 00:06:48,940
There were a grand breaking
14 playable characters,

159
00:06:48,940 --> 00:06:53,710
masses of towns sidequests, NPCs,
dungeons, incredible music...

160
00:06:53,710 --> 00:06:57,280
In fact, the famous opera scene
is an incredible (??) moment.

161
00:06:57,280 --> 00:07:00,810
Basically, Final Fantasy VI
is freaking awesome.

162
00:07:00,810 --> 00:07:03,800
(????) it is one of the
best videgames of all time,

163
00:07:03,800 --> 00:07:05,520
and the best in the series.

164
00:07:05,520 --> 00:07:07,000
And if you haven't played it yet...

165
00:07:07,000 --> 00:07:08,510
- Whoa, whoa, whoa...
- Whoa, dude,

166
00:07:08,510 --> 00:07:10,010
you're messing up the story, ok?

167
00:07:10,010 --> 00:07:10,970
Just let me get on with it.

168
00:07:10,990 --> 00:07:13,000
Hey, I may not know a lot
of the Final Fantasy,

169
00:07:13,010 --> 00:07:15,460
but I'm pretty sure people think
VII is the best, right?

170
00:07:15,490 --> 00:07:17,560
So so, is a bit of a long story.

171
00:07:17,560 --> 00:07:19,560
Ah, no... screw this.
I'm taking a break, man.

172
00:07:19,560 --> 00:07:21,700
I need a (??????)
(??????) or something.

173
00:07:21,700 --> 00:07:23,870
Whoa, whoa! Danny, Danny!
Wait, wait, wait!

174
00:07:23,870 --> 00:07:28,290
We haven't (???) about Aeris,
or Leona Lewis, or Vanille.
PART 2 UPDATED... [01/04/2012]

Code: [Select]
1
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:01,950
Hey, dude.
Sorry by the (???).

2
00:00:01,950 --> 00:00:04,530
Can we continue the story of
FF (??), please?

3
00:00:04,530 --> 00:00:05,820
Yeah, sure, man. Go ahead.

4
00:00:05,820 --> 00:00:10,020
We've already covered
I, II, III, IV, V, VI.

5
00:00:10,040 --> 00:00:12,040
So that means next stop is...

6
00:00:12,040 --> 00:00:15,010
Here we are, folks.
Final Fantasy VII.

7
00:00:15,010 --> 00:00:17,430
The game that blew minds,
ended relationships,

8
00:00:17,430 --> 00:00:21,140
and gave 14 Europe-boys their first
taste of love and lost.

9
00:00:21,140 --> 00:00:24,000
Released on the PlayStation in 1997,

10
00:00:24,000 --> 00:00:27,000
it was the first not being released
on a Nintendo console,

11
00:00:27,000 --> 00:00:31,770
and the first (???) breathtaking (???)
cinematics, and 3D graphics.

12
00:00:31,770 --> 00:00:34,940
(???) 3D graphics over 2D backdrops.

13
00:00:34,940 --> 00:00:37,830
And the characters looked a bit
like (???) toys...

14
00:00:37,830 --> 00:00:41,030
(???) 3 CDs of the game was epic.

15
00:00:41,030 --> 00:00:43,540
I mean if you (???) started
to play videogames,

16
00:00:43,540 --> 00:00:46,060
or if you never touched a
G-RPG in your life,

17
00:00:46,060 --> 00:00:47,780
and many of his players hadn't,

18
00:00:47,780 --> 00:00:50,270
it was like hearing Mozart fith
the first time,

19
00:00:50,270 --> 00:00:52,150
or getting your first feel of boob:

20
00:00:52,150 --> 00:00:55,180
a (???)
unforgettable moment.

21
00:00:55,180 --> 00:00:57,960
And there are moments
(???) in Final Fantasy VII.

22
00:00:57,960 --> 00:01:01,880
The breathtaking opening sequence when
Midgar reveal for the first time,

23
00:01:01,880 --> 00:01:04,530
the "oh my God & crapping
my pants" moment

24
00:01:04,530 --> 00:01:07,120
when Sephiroth emerges
from the flames of Nibelheim,

25
00:01:07,120 --> 00:01:09,020
the minigames at Gold Saucer,

26
00:01:09,020 --> 00:01:10,430
the cross dressing scene,

27
00:01:10,430 --> 00:01:13,750
the touching moment as Red XIII
learn from his father's fate,

28
00:01:13,750 --> 00:01:16,720
seeing a summoning glorious 3D
for the first time,

29
00:01:16,720 --> 00:01:18,020
going snowboarding,

30
00:01:18,020 --> 00:01:20,960
escaping from SHINRA's headquarters
on a bad-ass bike,

31
00:01:20,960 --> 00:01:23,340
breeding chocobos,
defeating Weapons...

32
00:01:23,340 --> 00:01:26,130
We could make this entire guide
about this one game,

33
00:01:26,130 --> 00:01:27,930
such as (?????????????).

34
00:01:27,930 --> 00:01:30,550
But (???)often remember the most,
is the love triangle

35
00:01:30,550 --> 00:01:34,210
(???) spikey-head protagonist Cloud,
and Tifa & Aeris.

36
00:01:34,210 --> 00:01:36,280
Sure, you could go
on a date with Barret

37
00:01:36,280 --> 00:01:38,280
at the Gold Saucer (???).

38
00:01:38,280 --> 00:01:40,860
but most people developed
a(???) Aeris,

39
00:01:40,860 --> 00:01:44,440
leading us to one of the most
unforgettable moments in gaming history.

40
00:01:44,440 --> 00:01:46,510
Whoa, whoa... hold up.
I think I know your'e about to say,

41
00:01:46,510 --> 00:01:48,290
is not a kinda spoiler, right?

42
00:01:48,290 --> 00:01:50,380
Dude, the game is 15 years old,

43
00:01:50,380 --> 00:01:52,490
I think we passed
spoiling time by now.

44
00:01:52,490 --> 00:01:54,850
Fine, but I'm (?????)
on your desk.

45
00:01:54,850 --> 00:01:58,740
Yes, (?????) you spent most of
the game (?????) pants off,

46
00:01:58,740 --> 00:02:02,260
well, she dies...
It was unbeliavable (???)

47
00:02:02,260 --> 00:02:05,000
an a moment I remember
turning me to sobbing wet

48
00:02:05,000 --> 00:02:06,610
(???) of sadness.

49
00:02:06,610 --> 00:02:08,910
Speaking of sadness,
there was a summon(????).

50
00:02:08,910 --> 00:02:12,280
which worked great, but my God
with the animation is long.

51
00:02:12,280 --> 00:02:14,400
I mean, Knight of the Round
was ridiculous,

52
00:02:14,400 --> 00:02:18,330
Oxbow lake (???) in less time
than it takes the animation to play.

53
00:02:18,330 --> 00:02:21,040
Still, the game (???)
amazingly well today,

54
00:02:21,040 --> 00:02:23,510
the graphics, the gameplay,
the stunning music!

55
00:02:23,510 --> 00:02:25,410
In fact, I go as far
as awarding it

56
00:02:25,410 --> 00:02:28,130
the Official Mark Walton
Awesome Balls Award.

57
00:02:28,130 --> 00:02:30,700
- Here you go...
- Ahh... thanks?

58
00:02:30,700 --> 00:02:32,620
(???)Square-Enix(???)

59
00:02:32,620 --> 00:02:34,190
And then there was VIII,

60
00:02:34,190 --> 00:02:37,890
with rank 2° for the greatest
Final Fantasy opening ever.

61
00:02:37,890 --> 00:02:40,490
"L(????)!"

62
00:02:40,490 --> 00:02:44,410
It droped the (???) graphics
in favor of more realistic approach,

63
00:02:44,410 --> 00:02:46,960
and introduced the Junction system
for summons.

64
00:02:46,960 --> 00:02:49,290
The narrative was as epic as ever,

65
00:02:49,290 --> 00:02:50,910
and was actually a love story.

66
00:02:50,910 --> 00:02:54,320
Not all fans go on board with that,
but VIII is one of my favorites.

67
00:02:54,320 --> 00:02:56,880
Oh, and lead character Squall
carried a gunblade,

68
00:02:56,880 --> 00:02:59,490
which is as freaking awesome
as it seems.

69
00:03:00,960 --> 00:03:04,740
IX (???) back to the series
(?????),

70
00:03:04,740 --> 00:03:09,410
and consequently featured (???)
(????????) despise.

71
00:03:09,410 --> 00:03:11,830
Suffice it to say it wasn't
one of my favorites.

72
00:03:11,830 --> 00:03:14,540
Thousands of reasons (???) I
stayed away (?????????????)after all,

73
00:03:14,540 --> 00:03:16,110
but (?????) with it,

74
00:03:16,110 --> 00:03:20,170
and still one of the highest
rated and selling FF titles.

75
00:03:20,170 --> 00:03:23,010
IX was also infamous
for its strategy guide,

76
00:03:23,010 --> 00:03:25,090
which in (????) provide
all the information

77
00:03:25,090 --> 00:03:27,430
within the book you've
just paid money for,

78
00:03:27,430 --> 00:03:30,080
and instead (????)
to go online to get it.

79
00:03:30,080 --> 00:03:33,780
Absolutely (???) particularly
(??????????)world online.

80
00:03:33,780 --> 00:03:35,850
(???)
Brilliant...

81
00:03:35,850 --> 00:03:38,920
To say people were
excited about FF X,

82
00:03:38,920 --> 00:03:40,790
would be an understatement.

83
00:03:40,790 --> 00:03:45,070
It was to be the first on PS2,
the first entirely in 3D,

84
00:03:45,070 --> 00:03:47,040
the first with voice acting.

85
00:03:47,040 --> 00:03:49,430
It brought those things and more,

86
00:03:49,430 --> 00:03:52,550
including a new conditioned
turn-based battle system,

87
00:03:52,550 --> 00:03:55,270
and a new leveling system
called Sphere Grid.

88
00:03:55,270 --> 00:03:57,650
The world Spira was a joy to explore

89
00:03:57,650 --> 00:04:00,650
despite lacking the overworld map
 of previous games.

90
00:04:00,650 --> 00:04:03,210
Final Fantasy X was
widely popular,

91
00:04:03,210 --> 00:04:07,630
(????) first direct
sequel in FF history.

92
00:04:07,630 --> 00:04:10,390
Final Fantasy X-2 was that sequel.

93
00:04:10,390 --> 00:04:12,830
Notable for its
all-female main cast,

94
00:04:12,830 --> 00:04:14,830
having only three
playable characters,

95
00:04:14,830 --> 00:04:16,300
and multiple endings.

96
00:04:16,300 --> 00:04:20,140
It was also notable for not having any
music written by the long-time writer.

97
00:04:20,140 --> 00:04:23,310
Nobuo Uematsu,
(????) this atrocity.

98
00:04:31,020 --> 00:04:32,800
I don't wanna (??)you,
Danny. But...

99
00:04:32,800 --> 00:04:36,070
things about to get scary.
And enough scary.

100
00:04:36,140 --> 00:04:38,460
That song was scary enough
to be honest, man.

101
00:04:38,460 --> 00:04:42,000
(????????) loudly sang in the depths
of Leona Lewis or anything.

102
00:04:43,590 --> 00:04:47,520
XI brought Final Fantasy
to the (????) RPG orients.

103
00:04:47,520 --> 00:04:50,400
And was set in the
mystical world of Vana'diel.

104
00:04:50,400 --> 00:04:52,250
Unlike the rest of the series,

105
00:04:52,250 --> 00:04:53,920
there were no starring characters.

106
00:04:53,920 --> 00:04:56,260
Instead, you could create
and costumize your own.

107
00:04:56,260 --> 00:04:58,790
Assigning name and career
with the (???) job system,

108
00:04:58,790 --> 00:05:02,170
It was also notable for simultaneous
cross platform play,

109
00:05:02,170 --> 00:05:04,560
across PlayStation 2 and PC.

110
00:05:04,560 --> 00:05:06,560
The community is still
getting strong.

111
00:05:06,560 --> 00:05:10,550
With hundreds of thousands of players
still battling their way through quests.

112
00:05:10,550 --> 00:05:14,780
(??????) in 2006
to knew universal acclaim.

113
00:05:14,780 --> 00:05:16,600
I am not so sure about it.

114
00:05:16,600 --> 00:05:19,560
We are in (???????)
territory again after all.

115
00:05:19,560 --> 00:05:22,020
but it introduced a
number of new features.

116
00:05:22,020 --> 00:05:24,890
These included the Active
Dimension battle system,

117
00:05:24,890 --> 00:05:27,120
where battles took place
on the overworld

118
00:05:27,120 --> 00:05:29,120
inside of a separate
battle screen,

119
00:05:29,120 --> 00:05:32,740
(???), and an incredibly
complicated (???) system.

120
00:05:32,740 --> 00:05:34,480
Ok, seriously.
How long this is gonna take?

121
00:05:34,480 --> 00:05:37,560
- Can I go another break?
- No, breaks are for the weak!

122
00:05:37,560 --> 00:05:39,480
Besides,
we're nearly at the end.

123
00:05:43,330 --> 00:05:45,620
Here we are, folks.
Final Fantasy XIII,

124
00:05:45,620 --> 00:05:48,080
the latest and greatest
from Square Enix.

125
00:05:48,080 --> 00:05:51,630
Which arrived on the PS3
and Xbox 360,

126
00:05:51,630 --> 00:05:53,020
back in 2010.

127
00:05:53,020 --> 00:05:56,880
And (?????????)made my eyes both melt,
and my pants soaking wet.

128
00:05:56,880 --> 00:05:59,720
Is just a shame that the first
20 hours were...

129
00:05:59,720 --> 00:06:01,850
well... a bit (????).

130
00:06:01,850 --> 00:06:04,280
Is basically you and your (???)
 walking down.

131
00:06:04,280 --> 00:06:07,590
a very long, lineal, and
(??) endless corridor,

132
00:06:07,590 --> 00:06:09,590
battling a few enemies
along the way,

133
00:06:09,590 --> 00:06:12,380
and (?????) RPG melodrama.

134
00:06:12,380 --> 00:06:14,310
Things (???)when you
(???????),

135
00:06:14,310 --> 00:06:17,960
but even then (???????????).

136
00:06:17,960 --> 00:06:19,570
There was a lot of
fighting (???),

137
00:06:19,570 --> 00:06:21,150
and it was extremely good.

138
00:06:21,150 --> 00:06:23,150
This was thanks to
the modified version

139
00:06:23,150 --> 00:06:26,440
of the ATB system called
Paradigm Shift.

140
00:06:26,440 --> 00:06:29,810
Which make battles extremely deep
and (?????),

141
00:06:29,810 --> 00:06:31,980
despite still being in
 turn-based.

142
00:06:31,980 --> 00:06:33,980
There was (???) graphics

143
00:06:33,980 --> 00:06:36,850
and an excellent battle system
(?????????),

144
00:06:36,850 --> 00:06:38,240
for (??) Vanille.

145
00:06:38,240 --> 00:06:41,170
What we call (????)
Square Enix (???)

146
00:06:41,170 --> 00:06:43,420
the most irritating being
on the planet.

147
00:06:43,420 --> 00:06:45,990
We can only (???)
fans of Jar Jar Binks.

148
00:06:58,960 --> 00:07:00,200
(I'm...? uncanny???)

149
00:07:00,200 --> 00:07:04,160
Oh yeah, and the theme song,
Leona F****** Lewis...

150
00:07:14,820 --> 00:07:17,100
- My God, stop this!
- Sorry...

151
00:07:17,100 --> 00:07:18,870
- So is that it? The end?
- Not exactly,

152
00:07:18,870 --> 00:07:20,980
cause yes...
there were spin-offs too.

153
00:07:20,980 --> 00:07:23,200
Wait a second.
What about F................?

154
00:07:26,460 --> 00:07:28,760
- It was (????).
- Are you not even gona... ?

155
00:07:28,760 --> 00:07:30,450
B(????)!

156
00:07:31,170 --> 00:07:33,180
A sight for the main (??) titles

157
00:07:33,180 --> 00:07:37,480
Final Fantasy (?????)
of spin-offs and (???)

158
00:07:37,480 --> 00:07:40,060
We'd need to make a hole at
the guide to go trough them all,

159
00:07:40,060 --> 00:07:42,840
so instead here's a
super sped-up random.

160
00:07:50,520 --> 00:07:52,830
So, what's next for Final Fantasy.

161
00:07:52,830 --> 00:07:56,230
Well, there's the recently
released FF XIII-2,

162
00:07:56,230 --> 00:07:59,400
which promess to bring back
all that lovely exploration

163
00:07:59,400 --> 00:08:00,890
missing from the first games.

164
00:08:00,890 --> 00:08:04,320
Along with towns, NPCs,
(????????????????)

165
00:08:04,320 --> 00:08:06,560
in some ways(??????)

166
00:08:06,560 --> 00:08:08,630
But hey, don't take
my word for it.

167
00:08:08,630 --> 00:08:11,550
Check out the video review from
our very own Kevin Vanord,

168
00:08:11,550 --> 00:08:13,550
which is (???)
GameSpot right now.

169
00:08:13,550 --> 00:08:18,230
There's FF VERSUS XIII-2,
but that was announced in 2006.

170
00:08:18,230 --> 00:08:20,700
Since then we (???) a
few more teaser trailers,

171
00:08:20,700 --> 00:08:24,870
and the news say they actually went
in the full production last year.

172
00:08:24,870 --> 00:08:27,270
So... it might be a while yet.

173
00:08:27,270 --> 00:08:29,760
So, that the main series,
spin-offs (???????),

174
00:08:29,770 --> 00:08:31,360
and the coming sequels.

175
00:08:31,360 --> 00:08:33,220
but we're still not done.

176
00:08:33,220 --> 00:08:34,430
There's the movies.

177
00:08:34,430 --> 00:08:36,050
Which were quite
frankly terribles,

178
00:08:36,050 --> 00:08:37,830
but hey,
the looked pretty.

179
00:08:37,830 --> 00:08:41,590
So, if you're (?????)
making your eyes (????) joy,

180
00:08:41,590 --> 00:08:44,880
and your brain tried to escape
(??) of your nostrils in despair,

181
00:08:44,880 --> 00:08:47,550
check out
FF 'Legend of the Crystals',

182
00:08:47,550 --> 00:08:52,100
FF 'The Spirit Within',
and FF VII 'Advent Children'.

183
00:08:52,100 --> 00:08:53,780
Then there's the merchandising.

184
00:08:53,780 --> 00:08:55,780
Which is so vast (??)
George Lucas

185
00:08:55,780 --> 00:08:58,090
(??????????)
Star Wars to shame.

186
00:08:58,090 --> 00:09:01,030
Plushies, figurines,
trading cards, jewelry,

187
00:09:01,030 --> 00:09:04,520
So many (??) of useless junk
for you to (??) your money on.

188
00:09:04,520 --> 00:09:08,280
But Final Fantasy's biggest
legacy to the world: cosplay.

189
00:09:08,280 --> 00:09:10,900
More specifically, bad cosplay...

190
00:09:10,900 --> 00:09:12,900
(????????????????)in a half.
Cheers, mate.

191
00:09:12,900 --> 00:09:14,380
Hey no problem, man.
Anytime.

192
00:09:14,380 --> 00:09:15,780
I could use you (???????)
(?????????) actually,

193
00:09:15,780 --> 00:09:17,760
is there any other series
you're kinda crazy with.

194
00:09:17,760 --> 00:09:20,010
Ahhm... (???) series.

195
00:09:20,010 --> 00:09:22,440
Ahh...
Uhh... maybe actually.

PS: Wouldn't be bad to put in the forum commands for videosites, spoilers and things like that.

No, no, I'm not.  ^ ^

I'm just trying to understand the guide completely, that's all.

I am Southamerican, english is not my mother tongue, and my english level, although is good, is not enough to understand completely all they're saying for the next reasons:

1) They speak too quick in some parts.
2) They use some slang words.
3) Technical gamer and probably FF terms, that I could get for sure if they were at least written (subtitles).
3) They're British. xD  (British english accent is many times a little more difficult to understand than American english, specially for a language apprentice).

If you said that because of the timings above the text lines, they're just because I transcribed using a subtitler program, for more comfort in writing (DivxLand Media Subtitler).

***************

By the way, my text capture of the second video is now up there in case somebody... well, already know.

I hope haven't been too cheeky in asking you to help me with that. I can understand, people are busy with their own things. Simply did it because... since majority of people here are born in englishspeaker countries, I thought: "hey, this would a piece of cake for them; maybe, somebody can help me" and "hey great, besides, this is a FF and gamer forum, what better place to search for help? FF & games technical terms, in a languages forum, could be a problem".

Anyway, I had thought since the begining and still is an option in case not having luck here, try in a languages forum.

[...]
Hey,
I have read through your captions and I believe your noble endeavor might be of quite some help to those whose native language is not English.
Still, albeit not being able to regard English as my mother tongue myself either, I cannot say that I found it hard to follow the conversation in the video or that the interlocutors' slight British accent seemed particularly confusing. By the way, what "slang words" are used in particular? I do not remember hearing any. ;]
I am going to watch the second part and read the respective captions now.  :)

At last! Someone who understand in the first, my entire purpose. xD

And thanks, man, really, for taking the trouble to read the texts.

Altough I repeat, in all honesty, that job was initially, just for my own understanding. But you and the first comment of Sunz, make me see that wouldn't be bad to let subtitles available for spanishspeaker people who follow FF world.

About the slang words, let's see...

One example: when Danny ask to Mark if he's not gonna talk about the FF XIV online (?), Mark answer something that, altough I don't understand (bowls? boast? bo_what? xD), I can assume is a kind of insult (of course, maybe I'm wrong in that case).

Another example this time understood... well, they use often the adjective «bloody», a slang word, right? By the way, an offtopic comment, I knew about that word and its meaning (bloody), seeing Lost. With Charlie Pace saying that so many times, hehehe...

Well that could be right lol
As far as i know you want someone to translate the words in that video word for word in a 10min vid?

Haha... no, no. xD

I reiterate, not translate, but transcribe. Got it?

Translate is asking to an englishspeaker person that pass words from a language to antoher, right? Transcribe, in this case, is asking to an englishspeaker person to copy directly what is hearing, an englishspeaker person who could understand perfectly a dialogue in your own language. The favor is to hear the conversation, and help writing the missing words in the subtitles, all in your own language.

In both cases is just a request for help, but I think both have their differences too.

I checked and corrected the first bit of the first part of your transcriptions:

Code: [Select]
Hey, folks. Welcome to the latest
GameSpot ----- Guide.

2
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
A quick announcement
before we get started:

3
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
Unfortunately we're going to have
to change the name of the series,

4
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
because somebody else owns the term [making absurd noises]

00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
and anything associated with it.

6
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
It hasn't been easy, but I've come up
with a couple myself and,

7
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
I just wanted to sort of...
test them out on you guys.

8
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
The hardest part's been trying to think of
a name that hasn't already been taken.

9
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
But I'm just gonna throw
them out there and,

10
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
you guys can let me know
what you think, that would be great.

11
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
«You 'bluff' Tube».

12
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
«Google's Guides to
Games for Dummies».

13
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
«Prince the Artist formerly
known as Bluffers Guy».

14
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
«iBluff».
Small one...

15
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
«Call of Bluff Modern Guidefare 3».

16
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
And «Edge».

17
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
Any keepers in dash?
We're open to suggestions, if nosh.

18
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
Honestly, we're getting kind of
desperate at this stage.

19
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
If you have any idea, please,
stick them in the comments below.

20
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
or feel free to
'tweet-face' me directly.

21
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
In the meantime though here's a...
'something' to Final Fantasy.

22
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
It's incredibly long because there are
over 2 billion Final Fantasy games.

23
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
In fact we had to split it
into two spearate videos.

24
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
The second of which will be available
on friday 3.

25
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
Some of you will, no doubt, think
 this is some sort of 'evil' GameSpot plot,

26
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
to make sure we get twice as
many views on our videos but,

27
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
honestly, I can think of a lot
easier ways to doing that than

28
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
having to sit through dozens of
hours of Final Fantasy footage.

29
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
I gotta know...
Taking out my junk?

30
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
Oh, maybe that would have
 the opposite effect.

31
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
I guess we'll find out next week.

32
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
In the meantime, here is
something to well Final Fantasy.

33
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
Enjoy!

34
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
You asked for it folks:
Final Fantasy.

35
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
Except it wasn't really final,
now was it?

36
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
Is like that movie,
'The Neverending Story'.

37
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
I spent 7.49 on the BlueRay.

38
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
Bloody thing ended after an hour
and forty two minutes.

39
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
Hi, yeah... I ordered a copy of
'The Neverending Story'

40
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
of you guys but it ended in like... two hours

41
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
just wondering, is it like a fault
or something?

42
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
Sorry sir, I'm not following.
Did your disc arrive broken?

43
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
No, no... it's working. It just ended.
There's no more story.

44
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
Can I get like a refund or something?
Or like a replacement?

45
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
Do you have any copies of that
'Final Destination' movie?

46
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
Which one, sir? There are 5
'Final Destination' movies.

47
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
Well, Final Fantasy is guilty of
this black and false advertising too.

48
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
Final? They only went to make
13 bloody sequels.

49
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
And then they made a bunch
of sequels for the sequels.

50
00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:00,000
Next year, they'll probably release
Final Fantasy XIII-2-2.

Thank you very much for your help, really. I appreciate it. God bless, if you believe in him, of course. xD

I'm reading it all by now, interrupted a moment for give you the thanks. By the way, you said that you're not born in englishspeaker country, where are you from? (if you don't mind to say it, of course).

OK so to put it simple you want the (? ? ? ?) parts of your transcription translated to something understandable
i will take the time next week and translate the whole thing to simple English.
With a firm grasp of British as well as American English and their respective collections of slang words
i think this will be a piece of cake for me (even if they are not my native language) 8-)

Holy crap...  >_<   'Doh'...

Hahaha, man... Of course you are...

I didn't wanna say spanish. With all this conversation about languages and translations and transcripts I got confused. Just a lapsus calami.

What I meant, was english.

About the gratitude don't mention it, the credit is for your compatriot too. Just look at the part he transcripted. A wonderful ear he has for the english, a very good level.   ° . °

Simpler impossible, man. ^ ^ You got it.

And also, thanks for your offer. Now I have two people's help. Brilliant.

PS: Take into account that NxK, the user up there, already completed and perfectly, one part from the first video (until line #50).

Boast means when people like to exagerrate or an example like this:
"this man was boasting so much with his barbie" meaning he was showing off (exaggerate) with it alot or trying to act like this barbie is something special, i fail at explaining properly :/

I will update the initial post everytime I can complete new lines.

A few minutes ago I updated it with NxK's help, and a few additions from me. I gave a new listening to the first video to see if I could catch more words. Got a few (some of them corrections), and put it up there.

When I get to finish both videos, I'll start with a spanish translation. That will be an easy and quick job for me as compared with this one.
