I don't know if those issues have been posted, but I have just played a full playthrough and I have figured out some errored scenes. They all have the same problems with white/black squared blocks all over the scene. These scenes are:

Ancients temple -- Kuro1
Great Glacier -- hyou2
Final Battle -- lastmap
Crater --- Crater2

Update: found another error scene

Second area of the one with a lot of magic pots -- las2_3

I don't know if these are secrets, but I will just list some of the stuffs that a lot of people who played this game didn't know:

1. You can skip the midgar zolom by saving the game inside the marsh. So just walk a few steps. Get to menu. And save the game. When you load the game you will be at the same position. Just rinse and repeat and you can reach the Mythril Cave.
2. When you reach Cosmo Canyon, there is a man at the far corner of the scene telling you that he comes to study about the Planet. But after you fight in the Gi Cave and are about to leave, if you talk to that man again, he will reveal that it is him who fixes the buggy for you. And you have a choice to give him 1000 gil as payment, lol.
3. In Junon Port, after you show your skills in front of Rufus, and everyone goes into the cargo ship, if you try to go back to the door instead of going into the cargo ship, cloud will be forced to go into the ship by Red XIII. And he also explains briefly how he disguised and got into ship
4. In the Honey Bee Inn, if you go to make-up room and talk to the last Honey Bee women, then keep talking to her because she will try to say hi to you, and then you can ask her to put make up on your face lol
5. On the way to Corel, when you past the rail tracks there is a small path that leads down, it looks like it leads to nowhere but if you keep going down you will find a cave with a man who will be very surprised to see you because he though no one could get there. There are quite a few of items in there to. Also when reach a cliff beside the rail tracks try climbing up because you will find a nest of phoenix downs. If you take the items Tifa will say that your hair looks like a chocobo.
6. If you go on a date will Tifa, when you get on the stage keep pissing off her by choosing lame choices, and in the end select the choice to home. She will give you a slap and kick the dragon king.
7. You can go back to the Corel Prison using your buggy. If you get lost, a Chocobo Carriage takes you back to the buggy
8. After you return to Wall Market to climb up to Shinra HQ, go to Corneo's mansion first, and go back to the basement room. You can have a choice to free one of his lackeys. He will explain what happened to Don Corneo
9. There is a letter in the table in Tifa's room, explaning why Nibelheim incident was covered up
10. When you get back to Midgar in disc 2, try climbing up the HQ by foot and you will find a Behemoth Horn halfway

All the field scenes are stored in the flevel.lgp

Every scene has an ID number. The ff7.exe will identify the ID and proceed to the next scene.

Yes you can do this even if you don't have tifa in the party. Even with Aerith or Red XIII in the party. After Midgar just go straight to Chocobo Farm to get a Chocobo then try to get across the marsh to the cave. Then Cloud will ask the Chocobo to wait for him. I wonder why we couldn't do the same later on though. But at least when you own a chocobo then it won't leave. You can't skip Kalm because you will miss out PHS feature.

Well as far as I know, most of the textures can be upscaled or even replaced by something completely different, like the magic textures or the model textures. But some textures such as this one that you are having problem with, or some textures in the highway minigame or the opening screen title, if you create a .tex and compile them into the lgp, then the game will only use the original area, so upscaling it will not work.
But I am sure that using it as an external texture in mod path works. For example like the opening screen with the buster sword, if you upscale it and put it into the lgp it wont work. But put it in the mod path as a png works.
It might a problem with window.bin, but I am not sure. But you should try, perhaps you could find a solution there. Otherwise, consider converting to the original pc version.

I don't think it can be done without using external textures. It is the way the game works, if you upscaled those textures and compiled them into the .lgp then the game will only zoom in to the texture original area. So if you upscaled something from 128x128 to 512x512 then only the 128x128 area will be used.
You can always download the kranmer patch that converted the 2012 version to the original PC version, then use mod path, and everything should be perfect

Hello 5way, I don't really know how to fix your problem, but you can try using this as an external textures in your mod path. So instead of converting in to .tex files using Image2Tex, this time try saving the image to png format (make sure you delete the black part, or make sure to turn on fancy transparency in aali opengl config) and then add _00 to the end of the name of the png and put it in the mods\(your mod path)\menu folder. Hope that fixes it.

There is no way for the textures with mod paths to work with the new FF7 2012 version, but it can still be done by using Image2Tex tool to convert all the texture pngs into .tex files and compile them into the lgp. But the menu overhaul or the new battle interface will likely never work.

It is also available on the north america website for just $6.00. So yea, for those who have never played the game, it is a great price compared to the psp or ps1 versions.

Troubleshooting / Re: Bootleg bugs and feedback
« on: 2013-03-21 20:00:48 »
Hi Xiaopang,

I understand your frustration with Bootleg, however it is still the best all in one installer out there and is already a huge improvement compared to previous all in one FF7 mod installers. But you feedbacks will definitely improve Bootleg in the next version.

Anyway, I suggest that you can also considering manually install the mods. It sounds as if it would be take more time than using Bootleg, but it is actually quite simple. Most of the FF7 mods come with its own installer and can create backup or uninstall on its own. You can find all the mods from the Big list of mods thread. If you just wish to have all the mods that upgrades the original gameplay, then you can follow my instruction:

1. Install Aali graphics driver
2. Install Menu Overhaul
3. Install Unified Model Installer (choose DLPB suggestion)
4. Now you should have a folder named Mods\DK in your FF7 folder. From now on you can download every mods that are textured related such as Felix Battle scenes, Felix World textures, Grimmy Magic Textures, Omzy Field Packs and simply just paste them into the DK folder
5. Install FMV restoration patch or any FMV improvement patch
6. Install FF7music

Hope this helps

Hello EQ2Alyza,

FF7 Battle Backgrounds are located in Battle.lgp, they are named from og** to rr**. You can extract the battle.lgp by using lgptools or unlgp program. Then copy everything from ogaa to rrda to a folder. Then you can use biturn to convert the whole thing to 3ds and you can view the whole 3d scene in blender of 3dsmax. However, you don't have to convert everything to 3ds. It is just the textures that need to be redone. Using biturn you can find the textures and convert them to bmp. Then you can edit them in photoshop. Hope that helps.
