Ok so I downloaded all the files and followed the instructions properly and everything installed fine as far as I know. Then I opened up the bootloader and went to config and changed settings to my liking and clicked "write CFG" close that and click play FF7 black window pops up and then says FF7.exe has stopped working. So I changed it from full screen to windowed, same thing. I looked at the FAQS and found the one where it says FF7.exe has stopped working and it told me to change my graphic settings if the self test message doesn't pop up. It pops up and it still won't launch. I'm running Windows 8 64-bit. I tried running in compatability mode for Windows 7 as my friend uses these mods on Windows 7. Tried launching it as admin. Always the same error so I have no idea what to do at this point. No idea what an AP log is but I went to a text file called AP in my Final Fantasy 7 steam directory and here it is copy and pasted.

Did you at FF7Config also the TAB 'sound' and 'MIDI' times clicked and set everything?

I went into sound and didn't change anything its defaulted to my sound output and when I click test the test sounds work fine. In MIDI I didn't change anything either MIDI is set to the only choice which is "Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth" For MIDI Data its set to "General MIDI" with 2 other choices "Soundfront MIDI (Creative AWE32/AWE64)" and "Yamaha XG MIDI" this is raelly frustrating because I so badly want to play this mod.

EDIT: I did the rename hard drive method instead of mounting it.

EDIT 2: I was just checking out the graphics tab in the config and on the side has a list called "Required 3D Features for Direct3D" and they all pass except for the last one which says fail and its called "8-bit Paletted Textures"

Your app.log ends abruptly with

Quote
sound initialized

Behind it should be something like
Quote
set music volume: 127
come.

Obviously FF7 or Aali's driver have problems, to set the volume.

Just try to update your sound driver, then adjust again in FF7Config everything.

This is normal.
'8-bit Paletted Textures' my knowledge is nowadays supported by none graphics card anymore.

Hmmmm I'm not really even sure what to update for sound, I currently have my PC connected to my TV, so I have a monitor cable with and hdmi cable hook up at the end and that's hooked up to my TV's LG sound system which is "LG-BDHT-0 (NVIDIA High Definition Audio)" So I'm not really sure what to update.

Well I thought I had it fixed and working great, but nope its giving me new problems now! Ok so I went back into the bootleg program and clicked on "Mod Listing" to make sure there was no red and there isn't, then I clicked "Run Bootleg" and let that install everything all over again. Once that was done I started up BootLoader and left all the config settings at default and click Play FF7 and it launched and went through the intro credits and got to the main menu where you can click start or continue, I clicked start and my screen went black and made an error noise so alt tabbed and there was an error box saying "Fail to load BVJF.yos" So I clicked ok and it told me to submit my APP LOG again. So here it is.

It looks as if your char.lgp is wrong or missing.
This is in the folder '[gamedir]\data\field'
You can try to find an intact version in the backup folders and copy them there.

I wouldn't even know where to begin to look for that? Any help please? I'm using the steam version of Final Fantasy 7 btw. Do I need to reinstall Final Fantasy 7 on steam or something? I'm totally lost here.

I have bootleg not installed at the moment, so I do not know exactly where you need to look for.
But you can make search for 'char.lgp' your whole hard drive.

Ok well I tried changing the base models in bootleg to no change and re ran the installer and got this error now "D:\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\BACKUP-dlpb\FF7.exe An error occurred while trying to read the source file: Access is denied. Click Retry to try again, Ignore to skip this file (no recommended), or Abort to cancel installation." I clicked retry which does nothing, so I clicked ignore and it continues installing Final Fantasy 7 Menu Overhaul and gives me more of the same Access denied error, click ignore again and get another error at the end saying "HextChanger 1.0 cannot open file "D:\Steam\steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY VII\dlpb-mods\ff7.exe the system cannot find the file specified" So now I'm totally lost and getting very angry. Anyway I set it back to what I had before and now I'm still getting the same access denied error with that.

Rerun bootleg is not possible because bootleg does not reset the files to the origin.
You're probably going to uninstall the game, delete the registry and have to start over.

EDIT: Have you installed 'norton 360'?

Yeah I'm going to have to uninstall and start over again, bleh. I have AVG free installed but disabled it for the entirety of the install. Is there instructions to uninstall everything?

His model parts are ripped from other FF games, so we can't support them here. I think the reason the legs are strangely bent is because some bones in the legs were placed backwards. The only way to get what you want would be to figure out how to rotate them yourself, but please never share those results here. Links will be taken down immediately.

A big reason why this site remains active and alive is because we simply can't support mods such as that, for obvious copyright reasons.

Ok so I followed the instructions and uninstalled FF7 from steam, I uninstalled the FF7 Music from my control panel, I cleaned my registry with the tool, deleted the whole FF7 installation folder.

I then went into steam re downloaded and installed FF7. I went back through the instructions and followed everything to the T, made sure all the mods I selected we're green and ran the install, it went through the entire installation with no problems or errors of any kind. I mounted FF7 Disc 1 with Daemon Tools, made sure all my configs were correct with graphics, sound, MIDI, left all the settings in the bootloader config as default, clicked Play FF7, launches to a black screen and FF7.exe has stopped working!!!! I'm beyond frustrated as this makes no sense what so ever, I just want to get this stupid thing working!! Here's my APP Log again. It seems to be the same APP Log as before and messes up on the sound for some stupid reason. I have no idea what driver I'm suppose to update for the sound, I have my PC connected to my TV and the sound is being supplied via HDMI which goes from my video card via monitor cable and on the other end of the cable is an HDMI which is hooked up to my LG receiver which outputs my PC sound through my surround sound system. I updated my video card driver to the newest driver which is beta? Please help me get this to work.....

EDIT: So I tried hooking my PC up where it usually is with a seperate sound source with an optical hook up to my logitech sound system and I'm still getting the FF7.exe crash and the APP log is the exact same thing, ending with "sound initialized" could this be something to do with the music i'm selecting in the BFE? I just left on the default sound choice in BFE. I'm so lost and stuck at this point and frustrated. Please help.

He means to do STEP 1, then start the game before continuing. Need to see if your game starts up after converting but before modding.
