Looking to scratch that FFVII itch, would you guys recommend 1.5 or 2.0?  I’d prefer more altered scenes and new boss fights.  I guess the furthest thing from vanilla lol

would recremmend playing through both :) v2 is easier in general than v1.5. v1.5 has more content. If v2 would try typeB hard. If v1.5 would try arranged mode.

Interesting, what is new or different on arranged mode? I´m only played 2.0. on both modes.

all bosses are replaced with 'harder variants' , regular mobs % boost for levels (better balanced imo).

can also unlock a secret 'dance party'
Spoiler: show

If you're after the most changes to bosses, then go with 1.5 arrange. Every boss is different, and it has way more post game bosses as well

2.0 type B changes the story in Midgar, and changes bosses in the main story too. The combat changes and materia stats are more fine tuned, but I also find the game much easier compared to 1.5. The changes aren't as radical but a lot of them are better (not all though, I prefer 1.5 Yuffie for example)

Hey Sega Chief. I absolutely loved NT2.0 and am currently working my way through 1.5.
I was hoping to make a couple of changes of my own to weapons, just for my own amusement, so tried WallMarket to make the adjustments but they don't change in game. I presume you're using your own kernels rather than vanilla but I can't find them anywhere to make the changes. I'm running the mod via 7th Heaven.
Could you point me in the right direction?

:edit: Nevermind I've found out how to do it. For anyone wondering you can unpack the iro with 7th Heaven, edit the kernel then repack the iro.

another method is not to repack the entire iro. just pack the changed file, that way you can put the new iro with just the saved change above newthreats iro so if any updates still have the changes u made intact.

scarlet is also worth messing about with  for kernel editing alongside lots more https://github.com/petfriendamy/ff7-scarlet/

I'm finding myself a little split on NT 2.0.

I LOVE 1.5; it's FF7, the game we love, but with improved combat and tons of great added content. Some of that content could have been implemented more elegantly, or went just a bit too far, but it successfully created "FF7, but with extremely engaging gameplay and tons of new bosses."

I don't feel like that statement is true in 2.0. Type A is essentially the base game with the bosses given an overhaul, but missing all the added content, and Type B is a rearranged (but not necessarily better) game with improved (but seemingly not quite as engaging) gameplay and some (but missing some of the very good) added content from 1.5.

I feel like these are all too different to be the same mod. Ultimately the best experience I've had with these mods was with 1.5; the Kaiju fight between the guard scorpion and the dragon was unbelievably cool, for instance. I feel as though many people will hear about this mod and play 2.0, as the latest update just feels obvious to use, and those people won't have as good an experience as they would have with 1.5.

Not to be massively critical to the guy who made my favorite mod ever, 2.0 is still good of course, but is there any way that 2.0 could be made a different project? 1.5 is New Threat; 2.0 should be New Path, New Vision, or something of that nature.

Sorry if I'm being too critical, I just wanted to give honest feedback while it's in my mind.

Well, that's why 1.5 is still available if you prefer it. It's not just gone and replaced.

Though to be fair to New Threat 2.0, and having played 1.5 until the Temple of the Ancients, 2.0 did retain some key changes of 1.5. I wouldn't call Type A "the base game with the bosses given an overhaul". Yuffie's recruitment scene was kept, there are a couple of optional conversations added, mini-bosses and bosses have been added at key moments during dungeons
Spoiler: show
(Reactor 5's core, Floor 59 of Shinra Building, Mythril Mine, escape from Junon in front of the Highwind... (and the Guard Scorpion is still a recurring boss)
, Disk 3 features many cool optional superbosses, there is a fanmade tournament at the Battle Arena...

Now, it's true a lot of 1.5's content was sadly scrapped - I personally regret some fan-made enemy formations weren't kept in 2.0, as well as the Dark Cave which looked like an engaging optional dungeon when I glanced at a Let's Play, and I wish Tifa's, Aerith's and Cid's final Limit Breaks also had their own superboss fights. However, I prefer the more polished proposal of 2.0. Maybe it's because I started with 2.0, but 1.5's gameplay and way of balancing the fights felt clunky to me. Type A really feels like a "Final Fantasy 7 Final Mix" as far as I'm concerned. It's close to the base game, but with just enough added content and alterations to the boss' patterns to feel like a different experience for someone who played through the vanilla game many times.

Still, I can see why some people would prefer 1.5 over 2.0, and I won't deny I went wild when the XATM Scorpion and Dragon started to duke it out with my party in the middle, so it's a good thing both versions are being maintained.

I'm a huge fan of 1.5 Arrange as well, it's basically perfect, but there is one thing 2.0 has over it and that's the addition of the party members hanging out at all the towns during the journey. How nice to see Red running around the Chocobo Farm and Aerith sitting by the stairs in Kalm. Would be awesome if that was possible to patch in without breaking anything.

Anyway just here to recommend 1.5 too, it's good. But I clearly need to try 2.0 again.

Hello Sega Chief.

I was testing Reshade with New Threat 2.0. and this happen at the begining (New Game):

Sometimes this message doesn´t appear but if you continue playing you´ll found random enemies on battle.

I hope that this could be fix.

* I don´t know if this happen on N.T. 1.5.

Heya SegaChief!

That is a really amazing mod you've created there, absolutely loved it and its worth every hour i have played so far. Really a fantastic piece of work!

While playing, i have noted some minor issues which i duly want to note here:

- During Cids Quest, Tifa is on the beach in Costa del Sol
- During Cids Quest, Aerith is refering to Cloud when using the beds in Fort Condor

They are more or less small glitches, and potentially you already know about them.

Again, absolutely love this mod. Keep it up!

Cheers!

In NT 1.5 is there a secret character? The rank up screen shows a question mark character for SP upgrades? Also, could you direct me to Heaven's Cloud for Clouds Ultimate Weapon? These are the last 2 things I need before I can say I've fully done 2.0 & 1.5. They're incredible mods and I hope to see the FF8 NT gain some traction.

My bad. I wanted to use the same ID of the english NT , so i can keep the compatibilities that other mods use with NT, but it seems that 7THeaven only shows 1 mod per ID :P I changed the ID in the mod and the catalog.(if you refresh the catalog section you should see both mods)

Anyone know what the 3 dudes in corel prison who always lie mean when they say this?

They never say it again, the music stops when they do. And starts once the dialogue box is closed.

Is it some reference I'm missing?
