I dare you to try. =P There are very few things that can really affect me, /d/ has immunized me. ;D
if /d/ immunizes, does that mean /b/ makes one impervious?

Also, is anyone watching the Japan match? Holy sh*t!
my gf was watching it, and her reaction was identical.

i don't give a damn about ball sports. unless there are females playing them ;)

You know what's worse than vuvuzelas? That people won't f*cking shut up about them. They're not funny, they're not interesting, and when the internet obsesses over them it makes me want to light people on fire.
same here.

i think that's the only legitimate use of that thing

Oh lulz, this is srs bsns. :P This girl just needs to get laid. In fact, I've just realized that every girl I know who likes twilight (I don't know that many) aren't sexually active, and I believe there is a strong correlation between the two. :P :P
reading it from a girl, i assume she knows what she's talking about.

oh crap, how does that reflect on my relationship... ;)

the time has finally come to do this :

girls believe in prince charming and twilight.

That hurt man. : /
that's just a general opinion, but i still consider it pretty accurate. mostly because i find evidence supporting it on a daily basis.

and yes, it was a bit of a toungue-in-cheek response. not meant to offend. move along people ;)

Because you use your imagination, right? ;D

And we don't need pr0n either; it's just easier that way since there often isn't enough blood for both ends :P

That's probably just because they're using their imagination wrong. :P

Are you saying that if I used my imagination right I'd have enough blood for the upper end and that my brain would finally start working? I hope so! ;D

Yup. If guys had an imagination like girls do, they would just imagine that they'd have enough blood. How else would they survive menstruation?

I'm anemic akshully, so I'm not really one to talk. >.>
girls believe in prince charming and twilight.

i don't want that kind of imagination.

General Discussion / Re: The Squall's Dead Theory

Ok, well, all that makes sense, but I really don't think that Squall is dead in the game or anything. Yeah, everythign is weird, but that's just how some games are, lol.
vague endings never get old.

personally, i think this is one well researched theory backed by quite a lot of assumptions. and it makes a lot of sense. what i dislike about it is that it makes all gameplay after disc1 feel a bit pointless.

i'd stick to believing that squall didn't die and was spared because edea remembered him from orphanage. for that same reason she spared your party members at tv station (when talking to seifer) and had seifer follow her.

Well, every time they talk about the PS3 I hope they finally add full backwards compatibility for the European consoles, but that didn't happen again.
it's not going to happen. it doesn't make sony any money for enabling people to play games that they already paid for.

now if we were talking about bringing ps2 games to psn, so that you would have to buy they *again* - i bet they are planning to do it. but the customers are not that stupid (i hope).

Having real time battles with several characters means either using stupid nonsense like gambits or giving up control over all but one.
gambits are stupid but not nonsense. they are stupid in their simplicity. but this is what makes them work well.

having realtime battles without gambits sucks. tried star ocean 3?

The aforementioned game mechanics aren’t just window dressing; the player must master the crystal-junctioning system if s/he wants to defeat the final bosses. If you don’t use precisely the right ring at precisely the right time with precisely the right weapon and precisely the right magic spell, you will get stomped and smashed like Hyde United in the 1887 FA Cup.
personally, i think it's a good thing.

every rpg should have a extremely challenging boss that requires you to really know the game and use all the possible tricks to beat him. it doesn't have to be the final boss, though (and usually isn't).

i liked that in vagrant story, star ocean series, ff series, grandia2, and a few more games i cannot remember right now.

i would like to see all the major characters from all ff games thrown in there ;) with a few villains for each game to pick from (if possible). i cannot get over jecht being a bad guy - but there was no one suitable to fill the spot.

i'd love to see remodeled quistis, though. wonder how would she turn out ;)

You can plug it in to a HD tv.
not every model. fat psp can't do it, slim has (afaik) SD tv-out, so only psp-3000+ gives you acceptable output on hd tv set.

Nobody's heard of Opera. It's just the awkward fifth wheel in the browser ballot.
i think the name is the problem. it's a bit snob, and downright plain at the same time. opera also has little publicity - just adding it to the ballot screen gave it an increase of interest among users.

opera is generally a great and innovative browser, but i think it's the name that turns people away from it. the other reason might be that it looks and feels very different from the rest of the browsers. so people have less problems switching between ie8, firefox and safari than between any of these and opera.

i'd like to have that TEXTp option to stay.

right now i had to download youtube video and play it in mplayer with libcaca output for the same effect. not anymore! ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iuzDmoO5l4Q )

You still run into the same problem of if the servers go down you can't play.
think about people that might try the game few years from now, and the auth servers no longer support the game.

now that's evil.

[rerail topic]

The root of the problem is that when entertainment becomes mainstream, it stops being an art and starts becoming a business. Imagine if Picasso or DaVinci were still alive and realized they were famous and started cranking out painting after painting just because they knew they would sell well. It would be utter sh*t. There would cease to be any soul or meaning to the paintings, it would all just be about making money. Sadly though, entertainment companies don't die so easily, and this ends up becoming the case to the extent that they'll even bastardize others' works.
that's the best summary of that problem i've seen so far. going into quantity kills the quality. i can agree about that.

Quote
Better yet--legalize filesharing. That'll solve the problem; once something goes big enough mainstream it'll stop turning a profit, paving the way for new artists to strut their stuff. (has been advocating the legalization of filesharing for a long time)
maybe not legalize all filesharing. but trying to accept it and promote one's works this way might work. and killing off mainstream is not good, too.

companies are greedy by nature. soon it will be impossible to buy second hand games, thanks to digital downloads. just because they think it's cheating.

Actually, maybe Sony just thought that making the system attractive to people who aren't likely to play many games on it would be a bad thing seeing as they are still making a loss on hardware and software isn't selling well...
many computing clusters are based off linux-capable ps3s. also, various linux enthusiasts bought their ps3s only to use linux with it. that definitely was a big profit problem for sony.

The PS3's architecture is vastly different from the PS2. The only real advantage the PS3 has in emulating the PS2 that other consoles don't have is that the cell processor has a lot of cores, much like the PS2. It's easy to emulate a multithreaded architecture on another multithreaded architecture. But that just means that the PS3 can emulate PS2 better than other systems can, not that it can't emulate GCN or XBOX as well.
as far as ps2 compatibility removal is concerned i can think of a few good reasons for dropping it.

- various companies have figured out how to press valid ps2 discs.
- swap magic can launch ps2 homebrew on the ps3 - so ps3 was ps3-homebrew capable
- people might try to hack the ps2 emulation mode (actually some of them already figured out several issues with usb/network), and eventually crash it. possible security issue ?
- usb advance and similar tools allowed for ps2 piracy on ps3.
- market is saturated with ps2 games. that means that a person with ps3 might stick to playing their ps2 games for a while. no profit for sony there, since backwards compatible ps3s were produced below profits. and to play the ps2 game you just have to pop in the disk. it's not like psp, where you need to buy your ps1 games AGAIN to play them on the handheld.

i really don't believe that ps3 cannot handle ps2 emulation in software, especially with that awesome multi-core cpu and fast graphics chip. that is definitely fishy.

looks cool. i hope there are some more mods.

there is also a polish translation ;).

if only this game would have a pc port more modding would be possible. i was thinking about making a model viewer for it, but it's hard to find time and effort nowadays :/

i don't understand the meaning of "hyped" in your sentence.

as for myself i tend to avoid mainstream music. since there are lots of copycats and most mainstream artists are only about the money.

Previously Sony filed a Patent that would allow them to emulate the PS2's Emotion Engine on the PS3.
i must say, i find this strange.

filing a patent for emulating their own hardware (EE) on their own hardware (cell). maybe they are planning to thwart potential homebrew ps2 emulation attempts for ps3?

you're saying the ps2 isn't powerful enough to emulate psp?

it certainly is, only problem is there isn't an emulator.
yes, ps2 is not powerful enough to emulate psp.

psp definitely loses in raw cpu power comparison against ps2. ps2 has monstrous bandwidth between cpu, system ram and gfx ram and can process insane amounts of data on-the-fly. that was the main goal of ps2 design.

but it won't help with psp games, since they do not have such requirements. also ps2 architecture is mostly optimized towards 3d transforms of non-repetitive data, which also does not help with emulation (keep in mind that ps2 snes emulator does not achieve full framerate in most games), which is usually a complex operation of repetitive data, usually requiring a lot of caching.

psp is designed to be less power-hungry and it has totally different design. in that department psp is slower, because it was designed to conserve power, and be a small device (low power, low heat)

that said, keep in mind that psp has a dedicated multimedia chip, that can handle dvd resolution h264 movies. i'm not sure what can it also be used for. and the main psp cpu has higher clock speed than ps2 cpu.

in order to properly emulate totally different cpu you usually need a machine few times faster. the more differences between host and emulated hardware - the more overhead.

also keep in mind that emulator itself takes some ram. after it would start,  you would have less than 32mb of ram left on the ps2. i'm not sure how much ram do psp games actually use, but that would already be a problem.
