Scripting and Reverse Engineering / ff7 world map lag
« on: 2005-05-18 15:32:14 »
I had this problem with a radeon

anyway to fix fix it you have 3 options:

1. Set compatibility to win98 (you're joypad/joystick may not work in ff7 now)

2. or use software mode for world map

3. Up virtual memory

I hope this helps

only if you're to use old drivers e.g.

catalyst 2.5

but they not compatible with mobility range. supports 9700s though

as stated in the great FF7 FAQ and

Hi

I've managed to get 8 bit textures working, the onlt problem is that all other 3d checks fail.

I've managed to do this with catlyst 2.5 & 3.0

The reason this occurs I think is because My 9600 isn't supported, whereas anybody with a 7000, 8500, 9000 and 9500/9700 May have some luck

If so perhaps we could figure out away extracted the 8 bit from earlier drivers.

Releases / Bug?
« on: 2005-04-27 22:49:36 »
I think I may have found a bug?

Its at aries house, the flash back to nibelheim, cloud lying on a bed talking to mum.

Anyway when the flashback ends FF7 crashes, the only way to get past the crash is to replace the modified char.lgp with the original.

This may only occur on my system, but I thought I would let you know reunion.

Archive / dvd install
« on: 2005-04-25 14:37:40 »
Hi sorry for the delay

Ok before we start you will need the following:
ff7
1.02 patch
chocobo patch
Click teams Install creator
http://www.clickteam.com/English/install_creator.htm
Nero 6

Optional Items
Daemon tools http://www.daemon-tools.cc
no cd patch -PM me
Reunion Hires cloud -
and anyother ff7 patches you require

1. copy the install all cds (install, 1, 2 and 3) to the harddrive
2. replace the ff7 exe with the chocobo patch
3. within the folder created when cds were copied to hd create another folder called setup.
4. In the setup folder place the config file from 1.02 patch (not the ff7.exe)
5. move the movies in to this folder
6. If would like to include and extras folder (containing addtional Patches) it can be placed here, or parent directory (depends if you wish them to be copied to the harddrive.)
7. if you would like to inlclude the Hires cloud patch, then either overwrite char.lgp or place in extras folder.
8. If you want play without cds, then you will need a reg key, place this is the setup folder. (PM if not sure how to do this.)
9. launch install creator and follow instructions
10. select the setup folder (folder that contains files) tick subdirectories
11.keep pressing next untill you get to: Installation Directory, this should to be to your ff7 install directory e.g C:\Program Files\Square Soft, Inc\Final Fantasy VII
12. save as setup2.exe in main folder. (this will take about half an hour)
13. You may wish to delete the setup folder. I kept mine for easy access to movie files.
14. create a batch file called run.bat - to run setup.exe and setup2.exe.
15. edit autorun.inf to "open=run.bat."

That should work, but i would reccomend creating a image file via nero and testing with daemon tools before burning.

Also if you wish to use nocds please PM me

(Could You please leave feedback)

General Discussion / *FIX* (I think)
« on: 2005-01-09 16:53:24 »
Well This worked for me on XP.

What you want to is get the 1.02 patch http://www.ff7-universe.com/Downloads/ff7_102.zip

Only extract the FF7 config file, do not replace the FF7.exe file. These random crashes should now be fixed.

PS
You may at some point need Chocobo race fix, I would reccomend installing this when needed then replace original exe after race.

« on: 2004-12-13 19:26:05 »

The bonus of pci, is you don't have to worry about different agp configurations. For an example the pc I'm thinking Of using for this has a 2X/4x, config which may not support some of the older 2X agp configs

« on: 2004-11-18 07:21:16 »
I'm not sure, I haven't got much further than this myself, so its up to you whether you install it again. I chose to, because as long as you regular save if it causes a crash you shouldn't loose much ground

« on: 2004-08-28 19:02:19 »
Ok Just by mistake I've managed to find away of running a radeon with 8bit textures and in opengl. First of all you need:

an old Graphics (nvidia or any which supports 8bit textures, you only need this temp)
a radeon card

1.Put the nvidia card in the machine, run ff7 config enable 8bit textures.
2.Put a radeon card in, intall drivers etc. Do not re-run FFconfig!
3. run regedit
Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Square Soft, Inc.\Final Fantasy VII\1.00\Graphics
And use value 2 for Driver

General Discussion / Winxp win98 compatibily
« on: 2004-08-26 20:34:22 »
Hi
I'm using ff7 with a radeon 9200se, everything works fine except on the world it takes ages to load the screen, the menu, and freezes during battles. I heard this could be fixed by turning compatibily to 98. This fixed the problem but my joypad nolonger works in game. Its USB

Archive / PSX Movies encoded with divx
« on: 2004-07-07 19:02:04 »
I have tried to encode the PSX movies with PC wavs, I have done this with the opening scene. I have attempted this with DIVX, it looks great in windows media player. But when I get in the game the goes all snowy like but green. I have the Same result with Xvid. I Have also tried the movie up compressed and they work great, but I haven't really got enough room for all the movies to be this size.

Is divX known to work, am I doing something wrong? Or can you suggest and other codec to try?

Thanks

Archive / Which codec
« on: 2004-07-05 19:09:15 »
I still wish to compress them anyway, to limit the space taken. I have the tried some but they see to bring up some weird green boxes. I was thinking of divx, would you recommend this.

I also read somewhere that the movies could be improved if directX postprocessing was turned off, I found this
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/wcedshow/html/_cooridirectshowregistrykeys.asp
This didn't work for me, but it may help someone else

Also I haved considered ripping the psx movies, but I wouldn't know where to start.

Thanks for your replys

Hi My movies play fine, no upside down problems no blank screens. But they Look really pixulated. Is anyway of of improving them. I've tried to reencode them with divx, they look fine untill thier streched to full screen in windows media player, so wouldn't the game do the same.

1. Do I need to encode them to improve qualtity or is thier an other way
2. what codec should I use
3. has anyone had any success with this

Thanks in advance
