General Discussion / Re: Looking for FF8 Yin yang

Oh is it really the SeeD symbol?  I would have thought the white and black represented Squall and Rinoa.

Oh well, that's me proved wrong then :-P
The white symbolises Seed and the Black is the Sorceress's army.
Forever in battle and unseperable.
Thats my take.

Doesnt Vista store programs in a different directory?
C:\Program Files is legacy now, try checking folders like C:\Programs\

Windows Vista may have them in another location, did you check the registry setting?

I haven't played FFVIII in a while, but I do know that on the back of her shirt she has to little drawings of white wings in one of the FMVs.
After she comes back to your team after the ragnarok thing she gets a new limit break where she grows wings and rises into the air and floats back down after the wings vanish.
Now she can do lots of magic with poweful effects.
Thats how I remember it..

I don't get why she got wings tho

Isn't that part of her limit break after she becomes a sorceress?

Lets not forget the nice Rinoa appearing at the end in almost perfect quality (vs the FMVs in FF8)

Thinking about it, these models are pretty decent - are they ingame models?

Yea majority of the models are hacked out of respective games (not sure about FF7:AD Tifa though), but there is still alot of work needed to pull it off.
Only gripes I have is that the hand to hand fighting (or rather kicking) is abit slow and uninventive, and maybe the female voices/sounds are rather similar.
The first Dead Fantasy is now available in HD and downloadable, and seems slightly better due to the more dynamic close camera angles and the closed surrounding feel - you appreciate the detail more because you get more close ups!
But looking forward to the sequals (check his main page on www.gametrailers.com) for info to go with the vids.

Not sure if this has been posted yet

Cant believe someone went to the trouble of creating all those FF and DOA related models to make this a great fight movie.
Watch for Angel Rinoa and her Gunblade ;)

Troubleshooting / Re: hyper jump crash
« on: 2008-03-11 14:23:33 »
Hyper jump during the Ultima Weapon fight in Mideel always 90% crashed out FF7, try playing it in Software Rendering mode or turning down your sound hardware acceleration?

I guess this sounds like a wrapper for FF7 exe, sounds promising.
Any chance of choosing between MP3 or PSF?
Anychance something like this could come out for FF8?

Completely Unrelated / Re: The end of emulation?
« on: 2008-01-18 14:09:43 »
I think theres something people have forgotton to mention here. It simply isn't about emulator now with the next gen consoles. I feel that console programming will get more and more similar to that of programming for games for the PC, xbox 360 and DirectX comes to mind.
The next stage of emulator will not work if they even attempt to recreate the same enviroment as the console (CPU, GPU, IO etc) but possibly its time to look at translating code in realtime rather than emulating the functions of the cpu etc?
Theres no way people are going to be able to emulate the PS3 in their spare time and for free as it would be nigh on impossible to do in my opinion.

Archive / Re: FF7 PSX in a single DVD
« on: 2008-01-15 21:09:56 »
when you see the Japanese games all had the option to install to HDD to speed up loading times, and the fact alot of NTSC games had progressive scan and some had 1080i and 720p support I feel the need to want to play my old games in hi res much like people like to get FF7 and FF8 in hi resolution on the PC :)
Sony released the slim PS2 when they announced they were discontinuing FF11 on the PS2 which was alittle while after HD Loader exploded onto the scene - possibly damage limitation, or rehashing the console (ie like PSOne)?

The fact that Sony never bothered to push the HD here in the EU and just got 1 HD game in the US suggests that they dropped the idea long time ago.
The Japanese got the the BB navi from day 1 almost and they had the external HDD from day 1 with the SLPS 10000 series of the PS2.
But it took FF11 in the US to bring the HDD over on to PS2, and I think maybe some units may have sold here in the UK before they pulled it in the light of PS2 HDloader.
The Dev9 exploit (IE) is probably the best thing that has happened to the aging PS2, but I feel the Memor32 introduction maybe too late.
Where are those PS2 emulators, I can't wait to play most games in full HD on my Core 2 duo PC!

Wow, Yoshi you are upto date with the PS2-Scene ( ), all he said was correct using a way to fake sign the files by using a custom chip similar to how Dat*l was able to produce 32MB PS2 memory cards which claimed to have M*gicG*t* support in them.
Would be mamoth work to write up your own ps1drv though.

hulkun - does that image pallette mean that FF7 JPN only uses that character set? From the looks of it there are Kana sets and maybe 1 or 2 Kanji?

General Discussion / Re: Square translation mistakes

Square doesn't need to directly translate anything from Japanese to English.
They like Nintendo decide to change things to suit the Western Market.

UK and US versions should be out around march.
Would it be better to go for the Japan version or should I wait for the english one

How about you guys right up a document of your findings? Would be an interesting read.

Hi is there anyway to manipulate the music? Like FF7music lets you assign MP3s to replace midi tracks?
